General / Off-Topic Does anyone work in the theme park world?

I worked at Chessington World of Adventures in the UK for the 2014 season as a Voiceover Artiste! My job consisted of talking to guests through an interactive platform (ie: the Pre-Show in Zufari: Ride into Africa! and also Banyan, the talking Elephant tree).

Did I like my job? Hell yes.

That's awesome! Did you get to press the button to wet people?!

That's all I did ;)

There was a fountain in the Dutch amusement park Walibi Holland, that could talk and shoot water at people. It had a camera so that it could see who was walking in front of the fountain. It was hilarious! [haha] (it was operated by someone remotely, I once saw a picture of the control room...)

I don't know if that fountain still exists at Walibi Holland. Haven't been there for some years now.

I really need to go back to that Park, Goliath was fantastic, I think I'm one of the only people to go to Amsterdam for a theme park, if you get me.

Great to know. I know that fountain has Twitter [tongue]
My brother send a tweet to the CEO of Walibi Holland once, because the fountain had not tweeted for a long time. He got a fast reply that said something like: "Oh, one moment...", and only a few minutes later: a new tweet from the fountain appeared. (meaning, that Twitter feed is controlled by the CEO herself) [haha]

As a teen I was one of the Calico Dancers at Knott's Berry Farm a western themed Park about 4 miles from Disneyland. I also worked at Disneyland as well but with a less exciting job as a cashier at Coke Corner on Main Street. BTW Coke Corner doesn't exist anymore [blah]

Haha. You evil man! [squeeeeee][squeeeeee][squeeeeee][squeeeeee]

It's great when you get on shift after lunch and everyone is picknicking under the shade of the tree.. Once there was a bratty kid who had been pestering me earlier, naturally you have to stay in character and he was blocked in by a bunch of adults. I had a mischievously great time. His parents found it hilarious, I hope.

That's awesome! I didn't like Knotts to much but I was 9/10 days into a Theme Park Review trip at the time and was dead on my feet.

Have an interview at Kings island for working the rides! I'll let you know the details Sunday.

All the luck in the world!

My first Job was at a County Fair. Got stuck with the Kiddie Rides (Hamptons). Took Tickets. Stashed a few in the palm of my glove to give to friends. Not given enough time to actually Eat or to to the Bathroom, 15 minutes and food stalls and restrooms where on the other side the park. Got Paid $100 for the week and had to help tare down the rides to get paid.

Worked at Paul Bunyan Amusement Center (a 10acre park) for 10 yrs between 89 and 2002 before they sold it to the New Owners and it went to hell. Started at $4 all the Over time I wanted. Worked my way up to $10 (max pay) my first yr when I helped tare down/Set up for the season. Paycheck Bonuses of Free Movie tickets, Pizza, pair of shoes and other little things. Weekly Employee Parties thrown by the Owners (sshhhh....BYOB). Tickets and Bus Ride to Twins Games. End of the Season Bonus of $100-500 Depending on how many yrs there and after 5yrs instead of a bonus, you could have a Free Trip to Mazatlan, where the owners ran a Fishing Tour and Small Hotel (you had to pay for food and drinks and any extras). Best Job I ever had and the Best Yrs of my Life! The New Owners since 2002.... Nothing good to say and they don't do Jack for their employees.

Worked at Valley Fair for 1 Summer for $10h with a Year End Bonus of $1 per hour (Don't remember exactly). Employee Trip to Cedar Point. I only worked Weekends and from Open to Close= 10am-12am= 14hr days. Nightly Fire Works in my area so we just stood around for the last 2 hrs of the night but had to listen to the Same (Grumble) Music Every Night and I Hate(!!!!!!!!) the Godzilla Song with a Passion!

Made some good friends. Meet Several Nice Females. Several Parents even offered me their Daughters because they were "Sick and Tired of them and they seem to like you". And would Love to do it all over again but with my Disabilities I am Unable to. Or If I had the Finances, I would start my own Little Park but have to settle for the Tycoon Games and now PC.

Tried to get a Job at the one in Panama City, FL when it was still there. I was Told "NO". When I asked why..... "Over Qualified! And we don't pay anyone $10hr." I was Sooo Mad.
