I don't understand that there are already 21 pages about the steam discussion. If I was a PC (maybe thank god I am not[big grin]) moderator this topic would have been closed for now. The decision has been made to release Planet Coaster on steam and the developers have several reasons to do this. There are around 10 to 11 million players simultaneously on steam and therefor the audience Frontier can reach by using Steam is way bigger than the audience they can reach with the Frontier Launcher. Another thing is, if it wasn't for twitch, I would have never heard of this game. So I honestly believe they are making the good decision, more people playing the game brings in more money and gives Frontier the opportunities to invest more time in content, expansions and so on.

Other advantages of steam:
- Friends
- Community system
- You can share printscreens
- You can share videos
- You can share messagesW
- You can join Planet Coaster groups
- ..
- Steam workshop
- They can easily share news with those who are not on this forum/fb
- ...

Another important thing is that Frontier can save costs when they don't have to invest more time in the launcher so they can use these resources to invest in the game.

And honestly, I don't think there is anybody at Frontier stressing out because 10 people say they won't play because it will be on steam. And honestly, what some of you are saying is really the worst way of negotiating about something. It's like saying: "I will leave the company if you don't give me a raise". It doesn't work that way ..

another cool thing to add, you can broadcast to friends/everyone with ease :D. and steam in-home streaming too :)

This is fantastic news. I'm an active Steam user and would prefer to have all games in one client. I don't understand some people's negativity regarding using Steam. It's win-win for both Frontier and the consumer.

The consumer never wins in a lock in monopoly.

Another thing to consider is that it may be that you have the OPTION of accessing PC through Steam AND another option, as well. As I stated earlier, I access the MMORPG Neverwinter through Steam AND Arc. Either way, I can get to it. It isn't exclusively Steam.

Ok. It's time to put this monopoly stuff to bed. PC being on Steam does NOT contribute towards a monopoly. Why? Because you don't have to purchase PC through Steam. You can purchase elsewhere, namely direct from Frontier (and I'm guessing other places after release), and you will get a Steam key. Valve, the owners of Steam will not be getting your sacred dollar dollar if you do that, hence no monopoly. This is true of almost every game that is included in the Steam library.

So, get off your high horse. This moral high-ground you believe you're standing on is nothing more than illusion as the monopoly doesn't exist!
Besides, as I said before, in my experience I can purchase games much cheaper on Steam via their sales that have become infamous so to suggest the consumer doesn't benefit from Steam is outlandish.

Well said me friend.

Personally I like the Steam idea because it means I can play Planet Coaster on my laptop when I'm sitting in bed, or in my living room and stream it from my main PC.

Hey,
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere...
With the Steam integration being announced - If you have pre-ordered, how are we going to download the game once released? Do we input a key to Steam or download through PlanetCoaster and it somehow merges with Steam?

Thanks in advance [noob]

We need to sticky this post so everyone can see this.
Also, if people are not buying the game because of this, well, sucks to be you, here's a hat. (quoted from Screen Junkies) For everyone not buying the game, there will be 10 other people buying PC because it is on Steam.

That is a good suggestion.

People are always in for a good laugh and i support PopeQ suggestion too. Why not double the entertainment. So they don't have to read through 21 sites.

I'm glad I still have time to buy the Alpha, I can't wait to play this game!! It'll be a great stress reliever for when I start back at college in a couple of weeks.

I didn't get any email regarding Steam account. How do I trigger this email so I can combine my Planet Coaster alpha with Steam.
