Devs, can we get a definitive answer on ... future passionate development

Dear Devs and Community Managers,

the OP of this thread was written two (!!!) weeks ago and we never got an answer.[ugh] Even if everybody was on vacation we should have gotten an answer by now.[uhh] In a time were there are complains about negativity in the forums and in which Community Managers ask during a livestream for more positivity and being nice and respectful, I cannot understand this behaviour by Frontier at all anymore.[rolleyes][cry][mad]

This thread was started to bring some positivity back into these forums. We never got an answer on this question although I thought an answer to it should be REALLY easy.[rolleyes] What a bummer!!![weird] Dear Community Managers: when you ask your community to be respectful, please show respect yourselves and give answers, especially to an easy question like this.[shocked][mouth shut]

I guess NOT giving an answer to the OP IS actually an answer!!![ugh]

I cannot understand this behaviour at all. Several Devs said they look into the forums regularly (maybe more into bug reports etc.). We got asked to be nice, we were (the very most of us anyway[big grin]) and nevertheless there was no respect shown to answer this easy question which I considered to be a gift.[sad]

Especially in a time were the anniversary update was announced and in which we didn't get much more info, there should at least be more communication.[rolleyes][weird]

It was possible to answer on negative threads, but it is not possible to answer on positive ones?[weird] Negativity was adressed, positivity and respect was asked for ... well ...[mad]

Maybe I sound quite negative now. Well I am NOW.[mad]

What I LEARN from Frontier's behaviour: I was wrong, the others were probably right.[rolleyes][uhh][sad][shocked][where is it][woah]

Even if the Devs don't have time to answer my bull ... poop question, which I understand, the community managers should have. Maybe I understand the title "community manager" in a wrong way.[rolleyes]

I have to say that I am utterly shocked and disappointed and that I learnt that I never ever will support any game from whatever company before release or even a later state.[shocked] I am fine with PC and how it worked out so far. I WAS confident that development will go on for quite some time and things would get even better. I am not fine AT ALL with communication.[sour][sulk][mad][weird]

Even the thread title was changeb by a mod to show at one glance that this thread is about positivity and an easy question!!!

I was hoping to hear more information about the anniversary update. I have lots of questions about the new scenario editor [yesnod] but we will find out in just a couple more weeks. As for 2018, I know the devs have something in store for us that they are waiting to talk about. They wont let this game just fade away and die within the next year or two. I think they just have a lot going on right now with Jurassic World. I was hoping they were planning on releasing a water park expansion next year, but it seems like it a bad idea to release it around the same time as JW, so maybe it has been pushed back to later towards the end of 2018.

Either way though, I'm sure they will be releasing more updates and maybe even DLCs throughout the next 6 months. Nothing officially confirmed obviously, but the devs have said many times that they are planning on continuing development of this game. Pestering them like this won't help because, what kind of a response do you want from them right now? Obviously, they are literally working on the anniversary right now, they work on things right up to the last minute, and even after the update is released they will probably still be fixing things. It's only a couple more weeks, and even then we shouldn't expect an answer about 2018 right away. Maybe in December they will give us a few more surprises!

Even this is why I can't understand why nobody answered to this thread and help to bring some positivity back. Positivity is what they asked for and now THEY brought negativity into all this. Completely not understandable to me. I am really on your side breezer, that's why I tried to bring positivity to all this back with this thread. But communication seems to be really broken at Frontier. I know that they are all nice persons in real life and are passionate, but this was their chance to actually show it to the community. Instead they did nothing for two weeks, now although they asked us to be nice and friendly.[rolleyes]

A response could habe been really simple, that'S why I am so upset.

"Yes, of course we are, there is much planned for the future, we have things in the pipeline you asked for and of which you might be really surprised. We cannot talk about this more now, but please be patient and you can be sure that we will develop this game in a long term because we love to develop such a game and are keen as you are to have a game we all dreamed of."

Something like that wasn't seen in THIS forum, where I guess most people look into when they want official information. ome answers like that by one or two devs and the community managers. DONE. EASY - not for Frontier.

heres what they post as "official" community content, where they discuss many of the questions they are asked by the community:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzpQvNnyoKgpu0lJdeXbFmQ/videos

Aside from the spooky stuff they discussed all this month, have you seen the most recent 2 videos where they discussed audio? as Bo said in last weeks livestream, they try to do these weekly livestreams for us to answer our questions. They only have so much info they can release, and future add-ons are probably considered part of a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Just wait, there will be more [up]

Yes, but this here is the official Frontier Planet Coaster Forum. I didn't ask for further information about content or the anniversary update (although I would love to see more information), this thread was ONLY about communication, positivity and quite an invitation to Frontier to take part again in positive feedback. This was all I asked about because in the livestreams they asked about positivity in the community. Not more, not less. But then not getting at least ONE answer by a Community manager is really like a slap in the face.

They don't want to talk about future updates? FINE. I am okay about that and understand or at least try to understand their decisions.

Of course they can't address all needs and have to vary what to implement and what not. Fine. If they don't want to talk about it because they might (!!!) add that in future I am fine with it because when they "announce" (it would be understood like it) they have to do it. I am fine with all that.

It is okay that they don't tell us their business plan (which would kinda be odd).

All I wanted to ask for in the official Planet Coaster forum is, if the devs will develop this game as passionate as before (not even more than that). I asked this because we were asked for some positivity and I considered this would be the easiest form and question to bring back some. It should have been REALLY easy to answer that. This forum is full of posts in nearly every thread that Frontier might not develop this game any further because they already made money. I don't think so. That's why I wanted an official statement HERE, not on Youtube or whatever. Not answering this gives people more to shoot at Frontier. Complaining about "Frontier isn't developing PC anymore because of..." could have been ended here once and for all. Instead of that Frontier gives more to shoot at them. This is utterly ... "not thought through well" *cough*.

I want never ever hear from Frontier again that we should consider ourselves to be more positive anymore. I tried, I really did and I utterly regret it NOW.

Sorry for my rant here, but this had to be said. Being friendly is being punished and being impolite is being answered - at least in the last couple of weeks.

Please discuss communication ONLY in this thread!

Don't take this personal, but the question in the OP is a bit weird. I wouldn't have answered it. Because what can the devs say - they can't say no! lol

The only thing they could have said is yes so asking (or answering) this question seems rather pointless when you know beforehand.

Sure, replies are always nice. But if you're disappointed with the communication I don't get how a dev post with absolutely zero information value is what you want most.

In case you didn't know, they will continue PC. What we don't know is how that will look like. (Well, probably similar to the first year. [sad])

Fingers crossed. I would buy another now if something was available (already have Spooky DLC).

Pestering them like this won't help because, what kind of a response do you want from them right now?!

The path system is now 99% less annoying with the anniversary patch! One should always dream.

I don't take this personal (well, maybe a little bit [big grin]). As you mentioned, giving an answer to my OP would be kinda dull because they couldn't probably say no. Yes, but this is exactly why I am so disappointed. It was soooooooooooooo bloody easy to give the community something being positive of here on the forums. Answering the question NOW is dull, I accept. So I guess I let this thread be like it is.

I just can't get over it, that they let such chances pass. They say they do care about their community and I personally really think they do. But please, show it. And showing it here was tooooo easy but they missed this opportunity nevertheless.

I know that Ed and Bo were at TwitchCon, but I wated more than 2 weeks for my little rant. I already said, that I was surprised not to get an answer on this thread last week. Other post were made by them. It is just ... maybe I shouldn't try to understand their way of marketing and communication.

I think the problem with Planet Coaster and communication is, that parts of the community await adult communication (at least I do) as I guess most of the community are grown ups and grew up with RCT. We are not like a shooter-kiddie-community, we want to be taken seriously (at least I want). Frontier cares, but here is the problem I wanted to point out all the time: I know that only from the livestreams, NOT from posts here in the forums.

In the week were the threads were full of rants about that PC isn't developed any further because of JWE (which I don't think) and were people complain that devs are taken from PC to JWE (which is the normal way and must happen from Frontier's point of view which I understand and accept) we see one dev in the livestream (the last one) who worked for PC but is now programming for JWE. I am totally okay with it, but I think (maybe I think too much about it) it was the wrong message to the community at that special time. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to see the dev in the livestream. It is only that I think Frontier keeps shooting into their own knees. That is all what I am disappointed about.

Well, we will see what happens. I am looking forward to the update and I hope that communication gets better. Everybody makes mistakes, maybe it wasn't even a mistake and I am just a strange person who thinks too much [big grin] I guess I adressed here waht I had to say and we look further what develops out of it.[big grin]

Community managers have been to TwitchCon followed by holiday and (jetlag recovery probably) There were no streams this week or last.

Last week we had that Workshop Wonderland which is the stream I talked about a couple of times in this thread.[big grin] But yeah, this week were no streams as they stated there wouldn't which is okay.[big grin] Having holiday is totally okay, that's why I waited 2 weeks as mentioned in a post earlier.[big grin]

Seriously? You act like your talking about giving a piece of bread to a homeless man.... who cares? what would have changed if the devs responded to this post with a YES?? THE REASON THE DEVS STOPPED POSTING ON THE FORUMS IS CUZ OF THREADS LIKE THIS.... if the devs responded to you then what about everybody else? WHAT MAKES YOUR POST better than everybody elses?? This isnt even a nice thread and if I was a dev I would not respond because it serves no purpose... theres many other posts you can find where the devs actually have answered helpful questions

I think the problem with Planet Coaster and communication is,
dude chill out [blah] there is not a communication problem, and even if frontier were to talk more, how would that really help you enjoy the game more?? maybe you should take a break from the game if your so invested in communication

And please, feel free to take that personally [up]

Nothing! Where did I ever say that?[weird]

I don't think that this thread (maybe the thread itself NOW, but not the OP) is the reason the devs don't look into the forums these days but that the same complains are to be found in every thread, repeated dozens of time.[yesnod]

What has answering to my OP to do with answering other threads? This is what it is all about in case you didn't get it. There are nearly no more answers. This was different at alpha, because community was nicer and the threads weren't spammed with the same complains. This is why I tried to be a bit more positive here what - I admit - totally went wrong and went in the wrong direction, which I am really sorry about.[sad] My OP might have been a dull question. Fair enough. Maybe a dev shouldn't answer to something like that, okay. I only tried to bring some positivity in here which I might shouldn't have done as I obviously mininterpreted things and all that is not wanted here, neither by the community nor by Frontier. [blah][mouth shut]

Seriously? You act like your talking about giving a piece of bread to a homeless man.... who cares?[up]

Well, in the last livestream the community was asked to be more friendly. I tried - it went wrong, I was wrong. Won't be positive here anymore. Will complain more and everywhere as wanted. That would be the wrong direction, too, would it not?![big grin]
And by they way, everybody should care about homeless people and should feed them. "Who cares" (about homeless people) is very harsh, although I guess you ment it in a different direction.

dude chill out [blah] there is not a communication problem, and even if frontier were to talk more, how would that really help you enjoy the game more?? maybe you should take a break from the game if your so invested in communication [up]

Well, if Frontier would talk about the game more, we would know in which direction the game may tends. Why should I start a new park now, when we might make our own maps with the scenario editor. It would be rather disappointing to me to start a new park on a standard starter map when I can make my own in a couple of weeks. I would love to know how the staff management building works out so I might add some space in my already existing park, now. If I knew there would be coming an Egypt or Planciano Jones theme, I might consider starting a map on that African desert theme. [big grin]

At the time of my OP the forums here were FULL of complains and fears that Frontier might not develop the game much further due to Jurassic World Evolution. I don't think so and as the forums were full of such posts, I posted my OP. So at that time the OP wasn't a dull question at all. And I don't care if I can find the information in a video which I have to watch for an hour on another place - that information I asked for wasn't here on the forums as far as I know.[big grin]

And please, feel free to take that personally [up]

I am actually not, but why are you getting personal?[rolleyes]

I tried to explain myself several times now which leads to nothing. Lets just rest this thread in piece if nobody cares. I was wrong posting my OP. Thank you![big grin]

It seems like a generic statement they have sent you.

I do chakra healing and white light energy work, however I still (rightly so) get sceptical about various things as I do not wear rose coloured glasses! Positivity is very good and so is negativity they are both needed, however being niaive is dangerous hence the world has many many problems on this lovely blue and green plane T :)

As for them in real life being nice persons, I struggle here as person/s is a legal fiction and real life is quite natural so maybe they are very nice 'human beings' in the non-fictional world :)

You b crazy son

threads like this serve no purpose, the devs do read many if not all the posts around here and on other forums, but they dont have time to respond to all of them. They respond to the ones that have value, threads that discuss game mechanics and issues DO get responses. This thread does not discuss game issues its just complaining that you don't get a response [wacky]

There are nearly no more answers. This was different at alpha, because community was nicer and the threads weren't spammed with the same complains.

Well, I disagree. There are many posts and responses from the devs all over the place. And the community was not nicer last year. During Alpha everybody was excited, but after beta (like in December/January) there was a TON of heated debates hating on the game for various reasons. Many of those threads have died or gone ignored because MANY players have lost interest in the game. Now if you want to discuss WHY that has happened, I would be glad to go into detail about it, but based on your posts thats not what you care about, based on your posts you just want the devs to say "Yes we are here and we are listening" but that serves no purpose because the devs ARE listening and we already know that... thats why threads like this dont go anywhere except to continue the complaints, I mean you could have posted in any of the other threads on this same subject instead of creating another one

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just replying to rectify a few statements in this thread:

- Positivity: this was talked about with regards to Frontier Expo and some forum threads regarding the Anniversary Update (in which people were arguing and being unnecessarily rude to one another). We know and love the Planet Coaster community for its incredible kindness and passion, so we were simply reiterating that, regardless of everyone's opinions, that this kindness stays at the centre of it all.

- Communication regarding the Update: we will have a release date for you soon - the reason why we waited with telling you is because of the feedback we've received from the community after the Expo, which we wanted to take into account and therefore we didn't want to give a date just yet to protect the team and their time. This is also part of how we communicate in general, even though this has been stated multiple times: we do not communicate about things before we are ready to, or before we are happy with the feature or update we want to talk about.

- Communication in general: we absolutely 100% stand by this strategy as Frontier. We talk about things when we are ready to. As for announcements: we always post FIRST on the forum and our videos on YouTube, then we discuss on Steam, social media, and livestreams. Sometimes we like to announce things during the livestreams, as it gives us the initial community reaction straight in the chat, but we will then always post a forum thread straight after (although Reddit is sometimes too fast for us!).

We answer loads of questions during the livestreams every single week. If you cannot watch then there's usually someone picking it up and posting it as a reply on the forums or social media. On social media we reply to feedback and questions daily. Also, if questions cannot be answered, we will say so (especially on the livestreams when we get similar questions each week).
When things go quiet, take it as a good sign that we are working incredibly hard to get a next update out! ;)

- Replies to forum threads: all threads, whether they are bug reports or feedback threads, are being read by and shared within the team. Can we reply to all of them? No, because some threads are merely for discussion and do not need a dev reply. The team is also working hard, and they focus on that rather than replying to every single thing. Some team members mentioned in this thread are however so passionate that they choose to talk about things with you here, because they love the community and love to engage about their passion. I personally think that's amazing - where dev team members really want to talk about their work because they are so proud. As they should be.

Just because your thread does not get a reply doesn't mean it's not been read. We care a lot about your feedback, as long as it remains respectful to other community members and the dev team. Calling us out multiple times is not particularly helpful; we do our best to be as responsive as we can, but sometimes we feel that things have been answered multiple times already. In this specific thread, the amazing moderators had already answered your questions as soon as you posted it - hope that makes sense!

- Future of Planet Coaster: now to again answer your initial question. We are currently focusing on the Anniversary Update, and when we have more to share about future updates, you'll be the first to know.

Thank you Bo!

Everyone always want information at moments notice and sooner than everyone else. I understand Frontier's official stance on communication and respect and agree with it. I think it is the lesser of two (half) evils. You either say too much and then fail to deliver or say too little and risk some of the customers to bash out here and on other social media.

Thank you Bo, for your kind answer.[big grin]
To keep it short here: it would be great if your two post (only your posts, not the whole threads) could be pinned in this forum section. this would help to minimize discussion about this topic in future.[yesnod]
An answer like this was all what I asked for. Thank you very much for taking the time to write this post.[yesnod][big grin]
And sorry for having started such a discussion myself here, that wasn't my intention. Sorry for my impatience.

To be fair to the community/fans we have waited nearly a year and the base game problems (thirsty peps, tools, coaster smoothness, no light panels and so on) have not been resolved. Communication comes in many forms, so if you say in one breath that we do not reply to all messages / threads / posts then that is fair enough as that would be too time consuming however to generically respond with periodic base game fixes such as the flaws listed above would be communication in itself, showing the community that you do listen and take on board the important factors of the core game. By adding more jazz/new rides, etc all well and good however those that have been seeking logical fixes will just see this as an escape goat method.

I am very eager now to see what the anniversary will bring as I have not been playing PC for months now as waiting for more fixes and hopefully more AI and intelligence for the management side!
