What is happening?

There definitely needs to be something BIG announced soon to help revitalize Planet Coaster and the community here, not to mention assuage the concerns of folks (like myself) who are worried that Jurassic Park: Evolution might pull away too much priority away from PC for Frontier's personnel...or even nullify the chances we could ever get a prehistoric theme for PC (which is definitely high on my personal Wish List).
Thanks for your comments.

In case you consider a "prehistoric theme" to include dinosaurs:
Unfortunately, the community managers of Frontier have already spoken about this on several occasions during livestreams and it comes down to the fact that they are not planning to release a Jurassic Park theme for Planet Coaster. The reason for this is that Frontier doesn't want their games to crossover with each other; no dinosaurs and space ships in Planet Coaster, no coasters and dinosaurs in Elite: Dangerous and (for example) no coasters and space ships in Jurassic World Evolution.

Mods for me too. It's now time that they add mods so we can get custom scenery pieces and such before it is too late. I would like to see many new objects like more doors, windows and so on.

Next to that maybe a tool to combine a lot of pieces into one piece like the blueprint tool if that would save some fps. We will see what they have probably before end of this month when they also bring out Jurassic World Revolution news.

It's Jurassic World Evolution.

Indeed that is true...but...even non-Jurassic World-themed animatronic dinos would have been cool.... [yesnod]

On the Frontier Expo i was talking to Nick Rogers. And i asked him about animatronic Dinosaurs for Planet Coaster. But sadly he told me the same. Even if they aren't "real" Dinosaurs, they don't want to do it. Which is a shame.

Man, that IS a shame; in fact after all the fun I had building prehistoric-themed rides in RCT3 this news is absolutely devastating. So much that I may even vote with my wallet and not support Jurassic World: Evolution out of principle. It's a plain stupid decision by Frontier to keep an entire theme out of Planet Coaster just because it shares a commonality with another game. Who cares if there are dinosaurs in both; nobody's going to be confused by that and mistake one for the other. The same obviously goes for the aforementioned spaceships and Elite Dangerous posts (which I thought were tongue-in-cheek until I read this one. Seriously, what is Frontier thinking???).

Right now I find myself wishing Frontier had never gotten the JP license; that's how angry I am over this. Guys, get your act together on this; there's absolutely no excuse for omitting a prehistoric theme in PC that I (and I'm sure many other users) have been anxiously hoping for since the game was announced. It's not our fault you're now making a licensed park sim dedicated to dinosaurs, and that shouldn't have to be seen as competing with PC just because you'd give us a prehistoric theme and animatronic creatures to include in the latter (besides, JP:E is on multiple platforms and is being designed for play on consoles; it literally is a totally different beast from PC).

Please Frontier, don't make Gulpee the only "dinosaur" in Planet Coaster. A lot of folks have a prehistoric theme at or near the top of their wish lists for THIS game, regardless of whether you're making a Jurassic Park title. You'd really tick off a bunch of folks who've been loyal supporters of Planet Coaster, including me, if that happens.

You know, they aren't always true to this "we're not going to cross over" because... there are bobbleheads of "lost winds" characters in Elite Dangerous...

Can't we treat the Animatronic Dinosaurs as they did with the Bobbleheads? After all they are just Scenery ;)

It's a crying shame i cannot build a "Time Machine" Themed Coaster. I am missing one of the most exciting Time Periods :(

Of course it would be awesome to have Jurassic World items/dinosaurs in Planet Coaster, but there's also the thing of licensing; Frontier is developing Jurassic World Evolution because they've got a licence from Universal. That licence probably doesn't cover Jurassic World themed items for Planet Coaster.

That is fine and dandy, but we are not asking for JWE Items... Dinosaurs doesn't automatically say: Jurassic Park or Jurassic World Evolution.

Just some Dinosaur Animatronics plus Maybe a generic Tracked All Terrain Vehicle Ride would be nice. Throw in some Ferns and we're good to go.

Just to clarify though Joel, I don't think anyone's asking for Jurassic World items/dinosaurs in Planet Coaster (as if JP somehow owns the "rights" to any and all things prehistoric). We're simply talking about generic dinosaurs, creatures, scenery, etc. here (although I'm sure some creators would fashion their own "licensed" stuff from that). That shouldn't be too much to ask from Frontier.

Agreed, Frontier could develop dinosaurs that are not Jurassic Park/World themed. Sadly, it doesn't look like they will do such a thing. [sad]

I always wanted a dino theme for Planet Coaster so this is very disappointing to hear. Like you say, it didn't have to be based on the films, just the Jurassic period. Much like yourself, building pre-historic themed rides in RCT3 was a guilty pleasure of mine; to me they were always the most enjoyable rides and areas to make. Planet Coaster would have been perfect for the setting with the terrain editor and graphical quality but meh, whatever. I think my interest in Planet Coasters future just dropped a few orders of magnitude.. [ugh]

this is why I am a big supporter of Mods/UGC and CSO editors!! hopefully the devs are planning to announce some type of UGC later this year [up] would be amazing, even if at the very least we could make our own custom wall textures, maybe even basic plants, rocks, trees, etc.!!!

I do not think UGC/CSO would hurt PlanCo or the "artstyle" the devs have created, heck UGC even helped RCTW (not really, but the UGC people made in RCTW was actually pretty decent, before Atari broke it lol)

"A tool to combine a lot of pieces into one piece if that would save some fps". That's not as easy as it sounds you do realise? That and mods aren't coming any time soon just FYI. And as Crowdpleaser says where has this 'before it's too late' comment come from?

You're not going to buy a game because they're not adding a feature/theme you would like in one of their other games out of principle? Interesting... When you say a lot of folks have it near the top of their wish lists what are you basing that on? A few posts on the forums? Don't let your heart overrule your head and make it appear like that is as big of a thing as you make out. Would it be nice to have that in-game? Sure. Would it be the end of the world if it wasn't? Not at all. If they've chosen not to go down this route then I'm sure they've got a very good reason not to. Getting so emotional over this one theme is crazy. "It's not our fault you're now making a licensed park sim dedicated to dinosaurs", no-one is saying it is but remember it's not our game it's theirs. They call the shots .

Rumour has it they could be working on a water dlc like more water rides like bumper boats swimminv pools and water slides. After all everyone was surprised when in one of their youtube videos they announced the log flume rides was coming to planet coaster.

When the game was in alpha, there was like a major update every 3 months. 3 months have passed and nothing much has come out.

Maybe theyre keepimg it a big secret. The best security to that is keeping silent to us [mouth shut]

silence does help add to the suspense!

Too late? [uhh]

Too late for what? [weird]

Too late is maybe a bit dramatic, but hey we are on the internet. What I ment was that less people are playing it and of course that is normal for any game (can be checked on steamcharts and steamspy). If we would get mods it would have a bigger impact. People here on the forums would of course never leave the game, but mod creators like it also when their mod is many times downloaded by others. In time those other people will continue to play other games. I also think that scenario creator came a few months too late. Anyway it is just one opinion. I didn't mean the end of the game or something.

Don't know why I mixed that up. I'm hoping it was the autocorrect.

See above. Hopefully explains a bit. I know that isn't easy, but if there was such tool I would be happy to use it. Realistically I know it wouldn't gain enough advantage and also not fit in their user friendly playstyle.
You also don't know when mods will come or never come. You know just as much as any of us. Just FYI.
They talked about mods in the very beginning. The only biggest issue they mentioned is to make it user friendly and accessible.

Yeah.... Disappointing that we probably won't get Planet Coaster style Dinosaurs... (Heck having dinosaur animatronics that look like they wouldn't be out of place in a Gulpee commercial would be cool.)

Other things they could throw into a Prehistoric DLC would be things like Cavemen, Cave paintings, Dinosaur and Mammoth bones and skulls, a natural stone building set, Roasting meat on a primitive spit, Animatronic Mammoths, more giant bugs like dragon flies... Saber Toothed Tigers doing stuff, perhaps some giant prehistoric rodents, maybe a woolly rhino... And perhaps even a Caveman entertainer who wanders around dragging a club...

We just got adventures recently so I think prehistoric would be delayed a bit, I would like to see some more variety, there's so many scenery they haven't touched on, and many that sorely need expanding.

But on other hand aventure would work fantastic together with prehistoric.
