General / Off-Topic Nintendo Direct coming tomorrow

Do you think that Planet Coaster for Nintendo Switch and Wii U will be announced in the Nintendo Direct coming tomorrow?

Give it up dude. Also, the Switch is just not powerful enough for Planet Coaster. Wii U even less so. Planet Coaster is just not suitable for Consoles in every aspect. Building Things with a Controller would be a Nightmare.

I'm hoping it will be released on the Atari 2600 soon. Absolutely ridiculous that they haven't ported to this platform yet. [mad]

Maybe if you wait 10 years for their hardware to catch up. :) Then you may be able to play today's version of Planet Coaster 2028 ;) (similar to you maybe able to play RCT3 on consoles now :D)

How many times will you ask this same question?

It won't happen. None of the current (or foreseeable future) consoles are able to even start up this game. They are not powerful enough. Then you have the whole controller issue as well...

The Xbox One X is currently the most powerful console on the market (out of PS4 Pro and Nintendo). It has 12GB GDDR5 @ 326GB/s which is about a mid to high end GPU power. It has an eight core processor but it has a low clock speed of 2.3Ghz. It could run a dumbed down version of Planet Coaster.

Reason why it's on PC is because the majority of the market are on PC. I have a custom desktop and even on large detailed parks with 6k+ population on 1080p ultra settings, I get up to 40fps. Frontier does have several games on Xbox though.

They could put a dumbed down version of the game on a console. But there has to be a good demand for it. The Sims 4 is on consoles because there's a good demand for it. Assassins Creed Origins looks good on Xbox One X. I game on a Sony kd43x8000e 4k hdr tv. My custom desktop (i7-6700k and GTX 1070) can do 4k gaming on maxed settings at 20-40fps. I use Afterburner as a fps counter.

Commodore 64!!! YES! :D No, it wouldn't even be able to run the old RCT1. :D Maybe if you dumb down it really really really much... :D :D (so much that it would essentially be a new much dumber game) Rct4 mobile however, maybe! but worse graphics! Or better graphic if you are a retro-geek :D

Ok... before we are accused of bashing him: I understand the urge to play Planet Coaster on the Go. I really do. And you might be able to do something nifty with its touchscreen and things. But at the end of the Day two major stumbling Blocks present itself: Console Power, and the Controls.

You don't have the same precision with the Controller as you have with Mouse and Keyboard. Just imagine building a complex Object out of Artshapes with the Controller *shudder*

There are currently no plans to release a version of Planet Coaster on any other device than computers running Windows 7 and higher.
Frontier has already discussed this multiple times, both on the forums and during their official livestreams.

I can imagine that you would like to play Planet Coaster "on the go", and I agree that it would be great to play the game on handheld devices, but it is not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

That moment when you are burned out on everything nintendo but still have interest in smash bros...[squeeeeee]

First of all, Atari is releasing a new console soon!

Secondly, they will probably port RCTw to the new console.

Thirdly, Atari already announced a new RCT game is coming to the Nintendo Switch (or maybe it was RCT4/Touch, I forget)

Last, but certainly not least, we should never ever give Atari such credit for porting RCT to older consoles [cool]

Luckily, we already have Theme Park on the DS... that game actually is a decent handheld game! lol

A lot of years ago, people wanted a Super Nintendo port of the original RCT and it still hasn't come, so will it come as part of an update for the SNES Classic?

People wanting something does not mean it's coming. You can wait a long time I presume.

But it's perfectly clear PC isn't coming to consoles and you can already play RCT on whatever handheld device that is capable (Android, IOS). Why is it so important that Nintendo releases this?
I am confused.

Gregor was being sarcastic...

Atari is indeed planning to release a RCT game based on RCT Touch for the Nintendo Switch.

I know so was I [wink] it would be interesting to see RCT Classic on an Snes though, I wonder if it would be possible with some minor tweaks?

I heard the rumor, but it looks like another touch based game similar to RCT4 (though maybe it wont be as bad) only time can tell, but I doubt it will be any good either way. I wish they had just ported RCT Classic to the switch, but nope atari isnt that smart :( If they had announced RCTClassic for Switch Id probably go buy it lol

Atari has stated that they are developing a new game for the Nintento Switch, and have said that it is not going to be a port of RCT Touch. I'm quite sure that it actually is just a port with some additional stuff added to it to make it work on the Switch.

If only Atari actually started to make good games such as RCT 1 (but then a new game); that would give them more profit than the last few cash grab iterations in the RCT franchise. [down]

They could go in the direction of Parkitect, I mean simplicity first, but I doubt they will have mod support like Parkitect... hmmm, watch them try to rely on a very basic UGC editor like they did with RCTW (though it would be tough without a mouse) lol Atari could never do it right.

I agree though, it will probably be very similar to RCT4 but with slightly better coaster editors. The coasters in RCT4/Touch are really bad, its like the original Theme Park game from 94' where every up hill is a chain lift, every down hill gains speed (with no sense of speed) and turns can go 90 degrees without banking... sigh

If they get away with another "pay to unlock" style game... somebody needs to place a flaming bag of dog poo on ataris door step

They should take a lesson from OpenRCT2 and the new OpenGL Lighting those guys are working on, it would be amazing to see an all new version of "RCT Classic" with improved graphics and bigger maps and modernized tools, etc [up]

I also would think a "PlanCo" version of Parkitect could be successful (like with Frontier's artstyle) but Id rather they focus on making PlanCo bigger first [heart] if only Atari could do the right thing... pay Frontier to allow Chris Sawyer the right to make Planet Coaster Lite !!!

Atari doesn't "take lessons", based on their recent history. They are capable of publishing mediocre games while lying to their customers. That's all they seem to be doing these days.
