General / Off-Topic Copyright flags on Youtube using ingame content

I'm not sure.

The game is copyrighted, as is the content as far as it can be copyrighted with the game, so I guess the music is copyrighted and licensed with the game as well.

Frontier however doesn't claim those copyrights so that way it's free to use for others. But it would still not allow for "others" to claim the music as their making.
I don't think this will reach the courthouse at all, but it is still annoying as hell.

This is just one of those "I think I'm smart, but I'm actually not" kids that claims stuff that isn't his.

Gotta say that this has been happening to me as well. So far only from the Flight of the Valkyries song. I have disputed them stating that it is not TunCore's recording. Im glad to see that the Frontier community team is on top of this issue, good work guys ;)

Frontier's legal team is currently working on the case.

In the mean time you can dispute any claims made against you, as these claims are false. Frontier will not file any claims against videos that are recorded in Planet Coaster and feature in-game music.

I am really quite ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ off about this whole situation, claiming copyright for something he clearly doesn't have the rights. Not only that, trying to make money with that is really making me angry. I hope Frontier comes down on him like a ton of bricks.

Edit: Apparently he sells Frontiers Music on Itunes too...

A quick chat with the mods advised me to censor his name. So in the picture it isn't clear that it is not Frontier selling it. Nor is it anybody else affiliated with Frontier.

This is sue worthy.... Such a little Fraud

I totally agree with you. These persons should be punished hard (not physical off course).

Don't worry, knowing the legal system of the country he supposedly lives in he's going to be enjoying his 40hrs of work as punishment! :D

Yikes! I would be scared if I were him.

Well looks like Frontier has put in some work on this issue as two of my videos no longer have copyright flags on them. Hopefully everyone else who was affected gets the bans lifted as well.

Just found the soundtrack as well on itunes ... won't send a picture, but I guess anyone else can find it there.
Unfortunately there's no "report" button on itunes ...
but I guess it will be stopped soon ;-)

Yes, all of those links have been found before. Itunes, Google Music, Spotify, YouTube. It's not just an accident, it's intentional wrongdoing.

I know at what you are hinting, but in this case, i don't think so. There is a significant difference between the punishments for things like just "you downloaded music, movies, games illegal" or the commercial use of media. If you rip media for your own financial benefit, the punishment can, and will be much harder.

Channel5 Gaming : Affected also

Hey everyone.

My most recent upload was affected by this too. I went to my copyright claim section and noticed the same issues discussed here. I have over 1200+ Planet Coaster videos, so I am seeing pages upon pages of these copyright claims... So i started looking into it and it eventually lead me here.

Looks like Frontier is on this thankfully! It would only be a matter of time before my entire last 2 years of work would have been claimed by someone else....

This is super scary, as I know failed disputes and even disputing puts us Youtubers at risk of a Ban... I'm really not sure what to do, as I have dozens upon dozens of these things to dispute. If Frontier sorts it out, will the claims go away? Or am I forced to take things into my own hands and Dispute ALLLL of these claims? It's a lot of work and puts me at risk of losing my channel if something goes wrong.

Thank you Frontier for looking into this and dealing with it. I hope everyone's issues are soon resolved!

Hi Jonny,

I advise you to dispute all claims directly on YouTube, since it will cost a lot of time to resolve this matter due to legal actions which are being taken. Unfortunately there is no alternative at this time. This has also been suggested by Community Manager Bo (source: Twitter).

Good luck with disputing all of the claims, and hopefully this matter will be resolved as soon as possible.

Which of these options is best for a false claim? And is there anything you can give us like a link to help us prove this is a false claim?

I'm still super worried about disputing these claims, as 3 failed disputes results in Youtube channel termination, and my Channel is what keeps the lights on at home. It's a bit risky as the person who i dispute against simply has to deny the dispute. Seeing how this person has gone to great lengths so far, what's to say they won't simply deny the dispute against them? This is why I want to be sure I am selecting the appropriate dispute option, with some proof provided by Frontier to help back my claim. Otherwise it's my word against his, and my lively hood is on the line.

Appreciate the help, thank you.

I went ahead and reported his channel to Youtube and included this forum post link. If they try to terminate my account due to misuse of the reporting tool, well go ahead. I haven't posted anything in years.

You could go for option “I have a license or permission from the proper rights holder to use this material”, as in this case Frontier has stated that everyone is allowed to use the music for Planet Coaster related videos. Note that Frontier is the proper rights holder, not TuneCore or the person who is selling the Planet Coaster music illegally.

You could include a link to this thread.

You shouldn’t worry about failed disputes; you are not the only one who’s having these copyright claims and you are in your right to use the music as per permission from Frontier.

Frontier has already taken action against the copyright infringement parties, so they should be aware of the false claims.
