Cobra skin

Do you think the 30th Anniversary Cobra skin price is too high for a single item?

I disagree.

The skin is Limited Edition Premium content. It's not important to the game, it offers no benefit, and is intended to serve as a temporary luxury item for the anniversary.

It's no different to a special gold coin minted for a special event, it's not intended to be owned by everyone, just those willing to spend more. That's why premium content exists in the first place.

Frontier can charge what they like for special luxury merchandise, and it doesn't matter how early you Backed either. Everyone knew what they were buying into, and this particular skin wasn't anywhere on that agreement. Just because you got in early, doesn't entitle you to every bit of fluff merchandise they choose to sell later.

The only mistake they made was unveiling the skin before the pricing. It was probably a bit silly to let people get their eyes set on it before they knew if they were willing to pay for it or not. So, yeah, if you're upset because you had your hopes dashed, then I can understand being disappointed.

Hehe, just bought it, Im a sucker for nostalgia. Also, this is one of the only ways to actually support FDEV more at this point, which is something that I want to do.

People that find the price is too high should really not even consider buying an anniversary exclusive limited flair cosmetic item. Just my view on this. ;)

I think it's depressingly cunning a price point. High enough to make people twice, but low enough that you can skip out on a couple of beers or a takeaway if you want one....

Maybe FD will be sneaky and nice and give everyone who got one, the same wireframe skin for every ship but not tell us that until the 1st....

Pull the other one! Its a greedy cash grab.. If they wanted exclusivity it would be something acquired via playing the game after a very tough challenge.

Get out. please. You cannot have a greedy cash grab if you put a price that will result in LESS ACTUAL income from a sale (especially if its for something completely cosmetic, ie a bauble). If the price was half, FDEV would get more money out of it. Its self evident.

Get out? I'm rather too polite to respond to that in full but use your imagination. ;)

They are fully aware its something very desirable and hence the price reflects that.

However, if you don't understand my point of view it might be worth remembering this, which was stated in the Kickstarter FAQ:

Everything in the game will be purchasable with in-game Credits, earned from trading, bounty-hunting, etc

You are right, it was a bad, ouzo fueled reaction. I truly apologize. T_T

Don't you think that if FDEV wanted to make the maximum amount of money out of this, the price would be less?

Wow the negativity in this thread.

I've been subscribing to SC for the last year because I wanted to help support the game but didn't wan't in game stuff.

For that I wanted to earn it in game.

I'll be buying this skin, because I am really loving the way Elite Dangerous is unfolding, and I want to support the game.

If you don't want it, or feel it's too much, don't buy it. No one is making you

Well it's a damn sight cheaper than other internet spaceships and fripperies.

I'm happy to support frontier and get my cash out.

I guess you're fighting for Eranin the coming days? :D
This is how capitalism works. If it would have been a skinpack for any of the other brainless shooters out there I would have never even considered it.

Maybe a touch steep. But I look at it as £10 for a skin + a copy of the original game. Then it doesn't seem so bad.

Besides we don't want every Tom, and Harry having one do we. ;)

It's the same with the alpha. They wanted less people with it. Same kinda thing here, those who do buy it will have something a bit more unique.

It's a bit steep, but I bought it anyway... I had to have it as soon as I saw it :p! But then again, I already have backed this project at a much higher level than any other game... over 50 times my start citizen backing for example.

I can understand the disapointment that it's not free, but as far as I see it, it helps keep the wolves of pay to win from the door :)

It's £10... the price of a McDonalds for 4. It won't exactly break the bank will it?

Well you don't know what people have to live on - £10 might be a week's shopping.

Anyway, having assessed my thoughts about it and taken in some other views - I think what angered me personally is they have set a high price and a limited purchase window. To me, I think "I'd like this but Frontier are withdrawing it from sale before I get my monthly salary" (if I read the newsletter correctly it's available until the 29th, I get paid on the 30th). If it's still available on the 30th....

God dammit

My first reaction was - "Too Expensive".

BUT....its my birthday soon.....so I'll probably wait a couple of days to satisfy my "I'm not paying 10 quid for a paint job in a space game" objections, Then I'll be treating myself :D

It's a bit steep, but as others have said - it is a way to support the development. I actually like that it is limited time available.

My reaction to this is that it is not something that you have to buy or will make any difference to the game. If you want to spend the money on it then do, if you don't then don't, but all of this hatred in this thread towards FD for 1 ship skin?? Really?

It's fair enough if you think it's priced too high, but some of the comments here are very over the top in my opinion.

Same for me.

Voted yes, but after I calm down in a day or two I will crack. It's the only skinjob I have actually wanted so far.

I think for £10 it should cover several ship types.
