Lets talk DLC.

I wouldn't mind seeing them do what RCT3 and they did a while ago for expansions packs. I just don't want to be nickle and dimmed to death all the time for every little item. But again they have not said anything just yet about this information. So I'm not going to really worry about it until they do. And once they do, I may not even care I may just be so happy to have a great Coaster game again I will do whatever to keep it updated and so forth.

I remember you saying "take all my money" when Dev Diary 2 was released [money]

Although a 'content library system' would be great, an important feature should be that it is easy to use.

I agree with DrVagax and Silvarret that I hope that there will only be expansion packs for Planet Coaster, just like RCT3, with a large number of new options, possibilities, attractions, rides, and so on. Small feature updates should be free of charge, in my opinion.
A lot of DLC would make the 'available paid add-ons' more complicated, because there would be more options to choose from (and some people would want all of them, so probably more expensive than a single expansion pack).

Just hoping they stick to expansion packs. Its been a while since i had experienced a good expansion pack.
Me too. During those last years, game industry is really disappointing with micro-dlcs, greedytransac--I mean microtransactions and stuff like this. I also heard (in case of The Sims) that even legit owners of the game pirated the items of the shop, because the price was too high. So this action can backfire.
Oh, I miss the good old days, where games were just a standalone copy with everything in them...

As long as folk keep on buying, then it's here to stay :(

There must be plenty that do spend, just look at the big budget ads for some free IOS games

But it is down to your own choice

I really hope to see expansion packs instead of many DLC that many times cost a lot money. Also, I cross the fingers to see UGC, but with developer responses, it seems that we'll be able to share content created with addition of their created content and not specifically the user content.

I miss those days too. Greedytransac-- oh yes they are microtransactions, are terrible. They are purely designed to get money out of customers. I would be ashamed if I offered those transactions. I am a legit owner of every single game of The Sims 1, 2 and 3 and all expansion packs and stuff packs, and I am not willing to (and have not) pay even more to get the items in the shop. In my opinion, they should be free for everyone that ownes the initial / vanilla game. Thats why I won't buy The Sims 4 (unless the game comes for free [tongue])

As long as people keep buying this, the game company's push this in more and more games i personal hate it and will never ever buy this !
I see this in vanilla Diablo 3 i play this from day one 4000 + hours paragon level 824 [big grin] and the store kill the game after 12 months, the store ( gold en real money) is now close.
And al the items are account bound.
Some items sold for (Echoing Fury for 7,500 €) some players are so stupid its a digital game item brrrrrrrr.
And after a new patch its noting worth and the grinding start again for new items!

In my opinion, the spread of the DLC is the currently biggest issue in the game industry. Right now, most companies release updates and DLC for like a year or two, then they just abandon it. In my opinion it should be more like this: (To add replayability to the game, for a longer period of time)

Year 1: 3 large expansions spread over the year +regular updates with free content

Year 2: 3 large expansions spread over the year +regular updates with free content

Year 3: 2 final expansions +occasional updates with free content

Year 4: Occasional updates with free content

Then you have the Cities Skylines method. You release the core game & with the user mods and then release an official expansion pack (after dark). Look at all the goodwill Paradox have.
RCT3 is similar. The Core Game, User Mods and Multiple expansion packs. I am happy to buy expansion packs in this methods rather than Microtransactions.

I hope they don't go down the route of microtransactions.

I could handle a season pass or expansion(s) that really bring new features to the game besides many new cosmetic things we can use for building and new rides (like a hotel expansion, a parades & shows & fireworks expansion, soaked expansion, etc). Micro transactions and small dlc's are really bad. Luckily it is a trend to burn those games with small dlc's and microtransactions to the ground on Steam, review websites and youtube channels.

Only exceptions are when a game has small DLC's included for free like for example in The Witcher 3, but even in this category some games cheat like GTA5. Sure all the GTA5 dlc is free and a lot of it you can use, but there is also a lot that you need to buy with a lot of in-game credits that you of course can buy for real money.

I am pretty sure Planet Coaster is going to work like ED and will get season passes. ED is a bit confusing, because it started totally different with the many options on Kickstarter and such. They already mentioned this in some ways and said that they hope that Planet Coaster can stay in development after release. I can easily see them releasing 2 bigger expansions (included in that season pass) in a year and every 6 weeks or so new themed building sets and some new rides.

What's frightening though is that they haven't yet talked about the modding capabilities. Without mods, I don't wanna see any DLC at all

I think you have made your point now... In multiple threads...
I do agree with you that it would be nice if Frontier will tell us something about this in the near future. We are all curious about their opinion on mods. But perhaps you should stop giving this reply in every thread.

Agree with you. The game isn't in the near of early and he try to be negative in every kind of way. Mods is something they can tell us in 6 month. <snip>

They makes us to pay to create and upload our guests in that end game of everyone, so I understand it. But let's keep patients and look what Frontier really plans in that direction

So wait, the VIP pass is to make a Peep character that will be in everyone's park, not just your own? If so, I can see how that'd be a decent thing to buy, sort of a thank you token for donating further progress the game's build.
