Shame on you fdev

So far ***ody has been able to convince me my opinion is wrong. Quite the opposite actually.

You are still miserably failing to understand the situation. Nearly everyone has agreed that the ship kits need work. Personally I think anyone who buys one is a blithering idiot, I certainly haven't. It has been reported since the ship kits first appeared that they were shoddy I am surprised anyone buys one. Just for the record, my total cosmetics purchases have been for a paint job and decals for my small fleet - and damn they look great.

What most of those that you are arguing with hasn't got a thing to do with ship kits. It is your attitude, the one where you proclaim YOU ARE RIGHT and ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IS WRONG AND A WHITE KNIGHT. Way to stifle any discussion from the get go, you should have asked the mods to close the thread immediately after your first post so no one could dare have an opinion that might differ from you.

You see, the thread is not about my attitude and yet you divert the attention and light the flames. It is about white knights hindering the game's progress. Anyone who disagrees on the fact that silently accepting sloppy work from the devs harms the game is simply refusing to see reality IMO.

Is my opinion bad attitude? I don't think so. It is my opinion and you should respect it instead of making poems on good forum etiquette.

Why should I or anyone else respect your opinion when you won't even allow anyone else to have an opinion (unless it is in agreeance to your opinion of course)?

That does not seem the case. Not allowing? :D You are free to write in this thread isn't it? If you prove my assertion (not attitude) regarding bad impact of the white knights on the game development wrong, I might change my idea. So far you only scolded me about my attitude.

Can you provide a definition of white knight for us to work with? I gave mine earlier, to defend the indefensible. Your usage seems rather wider than mine.

Again, you are the only respondent to this thread demanding everyone respect your opinion, yet you refuse to even acknowledge any other opinions, dismissing them with the wave of the 'anti-White Knight' magic wand. You want a discussion on this topic, then be respectful and recognise that others might have a different opinion to you.

Jumping in here, going by the OP's comments a White Knight is anyone who disagrees with him, which from this thread alone means there are a lot of White Knights :D

To be pedantic, I'm not sure that defenition is entirely accurate.
I mean, you can "white knight" for stuff even if it isn't indefensible.
To me, it's more about a persistent, arbitrary defence of something and refusal to consider any criticism of a thing.

Just sayin' ;)

Again, you are not discussing the thread topic and easily offended.

I did not specified any of you is a white knight. You seem easily offended by the expression white knight, it might be clouding your judgement.

Offended, oh what a laugh, no not offended, just highly amused at your self entitlement. In fact, since you have purchased ship kits and I haven't, it seems you are doing exactly what you are accusing everyone else of - supporting sub-par efforts from FD by purchasing said ship kits. Hmm does that make you a White Knight?

Yeah that's just what I (historically) understood and used the term for, it seems to broadly line up with how people use it on this forum. Google suggests a definition that doesn't fit very well at all, hence my question to the OP.

For clarity I've never described anyone on this forum as a white knight and I've never (knowingly) been described as one.

No, it makes me a supporter. Someone who is contributing more than you at trying to make this game better.

And proves you are not reading anything and impulse replying.

Hopeless discussion, you look at the finger and not at the moon.

I am not a politician, not here to persuade anyone or move the masses. There is nothing wrong with my attitude and my wording especially given the half baked state of the game. It perfectly conveys how I feel about this and my intent. That you people like it or not.

I play elite dangerous, not forum ego coaster.

Now, back to the point instead of those smokes and mirrors.

I posted it in discussion to give food for thought on an observation I made: the developers handle the game development poorly and the community is also responsible being passive and not voicing their disappointment when FD makes such blatant displays of laziness. That is my reasoning to explain why ED has so many things that leave to be desired. Lousily made kits are only the tip of the iceberg.

Do whatever you want about this, buy whatever you want. I just remind you that silently accepting any piece of stale bread like a beggar will fill the game with stale bread.

Neither am I, but you can't tell me with a straight face that you haven't tried to persuade someone before, besides, isn't that the purpose of the OP? Look dude, I'm trying to help you but if you don't want that help, I won't bother, you choose.

So... we should or shouldn't be buying sub-par ship kits?

I'm confused, someone, please tell me what to think! God forbid anyone calls me a White Knight!

I'm not sure those numbers are as encouraging as you think they are, TBH.

If we deduct the revenue generated by cosmetics, we can see that ED made £18m during 2017/2018, while Beyond was in progress.
We can also see that it's predicted to make £9m during 2018/2019.
Given that 6 months of the 2018/2019 FY also occured while beyond was in progress, those 6 months should have generated £9m in revenue, based on the previous year's results.
The implication being that ED will actually generate ZERO revenue (aside from cosmetics) for the remaining 6 months of this FY.

And then, with that in mind, the predictions for 2020 are, frankly, just batshit crazy.
They seem to predict that ED's revenue will plummet to almost zero in 2019.
We know that there is going to be no new significant content throughout 2019 and into the first half of 2020.
So, what's going to provoke this increase in sales during a year when there's absolutely chuff-all to encourage people to buy the game?
FY2018 had Elite arriving on PS4, bolstering it to £18m of game sales. FY2019 will "only" get £9m in game sales, from new players and existing ones buying Horizons.

Liberum project FDev to earn around £12m in game sales (Elite and/or Horizons) in FY2020 (Jun 2019 to May 2020), not a drop to £zero, so they must know something marketable is coming to Elite Dangerous during that timeframe. FDev have said that New Era will be ready for the 2nd half of 2020, while small updates will come every 3-4 months before then; plus the dev-ran events/CGs that we find more about next month. All we know is that the first two small updates will contain better New Player Experience and QoL improvements, then new features and content are coming in the small updates that follow.

wings are misaligned, ok I get it, that might be personal preference.

There's no such thing as an aircraft that doesn't have 'misaligned' wings. In fact, the very very best aircraft in the world have wings that don't come anywhere near being aligned.

Oh, and if you think this is just a modern trend, go take a look at a Mustang, and an F-86 Sabre, and an F-104 Starfigter, and even the F-15 and Su-27.

'Wings aren't aligned' is your OCD talking. The fact is, everyone knows ship kits are all form, no function, so it doesn't matter anyway, you're only putting them on for the sake of vanity, and if you don't like them, there's literally no functional reason to buy them. If you didn't buy them, then you have absolutely nothing to complain about. Move along.
