Patch / Update? all I see is tumbleweed

Hi Fdev,

It's been a while since the announced big thing in Xmas 2020. As part of that announcement of 'something coming eventually' you mentioned some updates along the way.

Well now we have the issue tracker which really helps identify some of the most wanted fixes for those most annoying bugs affecting your player base, that includes me :)

Thing is though, it's all gone quiet, much like the Thargoid and Guardian 'storyline'. I was wondering if you could just address some of the bugs while we wait for xmas 2020?

If you don't have anything for us then please just say that, really don't think I can stand to hear another 'we will fix something eventually' news story.

How about set a date for a patch? No need to commit to what it will contain, just that we will get something on a particular date. Something to spur us on... not sure about other players but I feel like we have been abandoned for an unknown duration...

Many thanks

Nutter

I honestly believe that what's coming in 2020 is going to be good.

But waiting for news about the replacement for the CGs, about any Powerplay update or even the bug fixes is getting frustrating.

I'll know that we've been put into maintenance mode when they stop doing Paint Jobs and ship kits.

Seems Elite Dangerous is on hold for other projects could be that the majority of the ressources assigned for the new franchise. But we will see what happens until end of 2020. From my perspective ED is final. The exciting announced new Era is marketing placeholder bla bla bingo :)

I too, as usual, just want to know what's going on. But only because I already paid. If I were a Horizons/base game customer I'd have little to be concerned about, for a Horizons customer the game was feature complete at the end of 2017 & anything more that doesn't break what's already there is just a bonus.

At least they could reply to one of these threads...
Will looks up after dunking his biscuit in warm water : "Anything happening on the forums today Paige?"
Paige stops stroking her cat to look : "Nope, just the same set of threads asking are-we-there-yet, even after we told then when the new stuff is out"
Will: "This has happened before..."
Paige: "... and it will happen again"

Damn cylons ;)

Sorry? What new stuff? What date? Source?

There isn't anything to look forward to, yes something is coming in 2020+ so is the weather. Waiting months for a patch isn't the same as new content, it's fixing content you already have. Why add new when what you've got has so many issues.

They are doing work on bug fixing, we have a new tracker that should allow the opportunity to take customer views on priority into account. Only time will tell whether that opportunity will be capitalised upon.

They are really completely ignoring the community for now. No idea what they're up to.
Why should anybody of FDev reply here? What are the consequences of ignoring the forums? None, if you ask me. The more vocal and concerned community in the forums is only a small part of the active players. I watch this forums since I have the game (not very long, around 2 months now). I even participate from time to time, but I am about to give up to think about the game, or thinking of suggestions. All things here are just ignored. And why not? No consequences at all. Many here post angry or disappointed views. But they still play, at least most of them say they play, and they still buy things from the Livery store. All is well, from FDev's point of view.

What would bring a strong and fast response would be refusing to play, and more important, refusing to buy anything. No chance for this to happen. So they string us along with promises from time to time, and that's it.

The posters here (not including me, or only in a very small part) are all very interested in the game. But all I see are always the same people posting, discussing, (constructively) criticizing the game and making suggestions. I estimate there are around 50-100 very active long time members here posting often, and again 200-300 different players posting from time to time. This is less than 10% of the player base (around 7000 according to the last Steam charts, and this does not include people like me playing without Steam). Lets say that probably even less than 5% of all the players post here. Why should they react?

I have thought of posting several suggestions - but I will not take the time to do it. All the things posted are discussed here - by less than 5% of the players, and I am sure they all are completely ignored by FDev. They do not even read the threads, I think. No consequences, remember?

Bug fixes - the idea of 'voting for bugs' is just a clever plan to 'pacify the masses' here. What else should it bring? More attention to a bug? It is and remains FDevs responsibility alone to decide which bugs they fix. And looking at the last few weeks they have decided. So they can live perfectly without communicating, and they earn enough money without the need to fix any bugs. Why should they act differently? The 'professional pride' to have a program (or game) mostly bug free and working as intended is dead long since. Not only here.

The only thing of (rather massive) value these forums have is the help content and the willingness of experienced player to help others. This is the only reason I am reading the forums here. I would have given up weeks before without the hints here...

So - better play as long as it makes fun, and forget FDev. Forget about the bugs - I just avoid them by not doing a lot of so called 'content' which is buggy, not working or just not designed well to spare me the aggravation. And at some point in the future I fully expect to lose interest, and then, without regret I will - maybe - play the game every other week for a few hours. We will see...
(And no, you can't have my things :p)

Why is it that the community have to stand in and suggest that Fdev are fixing bugs? Why is it that the community have to stand in and state that an announcement is coming this month? Where are the community managers? They are employed to communicate with the community, however and all too often, it ends up the community trying to reassure the community.

I've been around since the inception of ED and it really is time something changed, I thank the community for their optimism and insite, however I'd love to hear from the staff.
