ANNOUNCEMENT April Update - Coming 23 April 2019

Betting I find a way into the new player zone in the first few hours... also its clear frontier has no plans to balance ships given they are just putting extra slots into every ship with no forethought for what impact they will have on an already poorly balanced game.

Least I will be funny to stream though I guess.

  • Commodities relevant to any active missions you're currently undertaking

This is great, but I must admit I would find the flip side more useful: ie. highlight missions to systems you already have set course for, missions to, or cargo for.

When I have a mission, it's quite a hassle to check all the factions if they would happen to have missions to the same system. Or alternatively, missions to system I have set course to, or along the route there (in fact, by setting the course after receiving the mission and the checking would cover the first case with just this one feature). And when I have arrived someplace with a hold full of cargo, it's equally troublesome to check if there would be any source & return missions for something I have.

Well, perhaps expanding this feature to cover these cases could be done with little effort in a future update?

Funny, as all the planes in my flight simulator have autopilots, just like real planes. Having served in the Navy I can tell you that real boats have autopilots, too. Heck, even sailboats, the most "manual" of boats, have autopilots! So stop pretending you want a realistic simulator.

A 'realistic simulator' wouldn't waste time with pilots, it would all be automated.

As for planes, I like flying WW2 fighters which don't have autopilots. For boats, I like WW2 submarines, which don't have autopilots.
ED used to have a 'WW2 planes in space' vibe to it, but aside from combat it's not that way any more. Too much focus on results and not enough on experience.

Automated gameplay as an advertised feature in the Kickstarter would likely have meant that I'd have skipped this game entirely.
If you want this to not happen, you know the drill.

Buy FD. That's your only chance at saving "your"* game.

*It isn't your game.

Welcome to the Noob Zone. On approach to Hutton Orbital set alarm clock for 1 hr while you take a nap.

As a early adopter crashing while docking was a right of passage. How did anyone ever escape it in early days.

It seem most new cmdrs take the easy option of violating Eula and purchasing credits with cash from you know where.

Personally, like some stuff like trading item views etc and the new zone for starters. I agree new starters should have help... but it should be removed once they hit 2 ranks in.

Extra slots always welcome

Why do we need auto pilot ti get out of a station and in supercruise, surely skill is required you learn you get doing it.. easy mode in to many areas for long term players, I want skill based advantages over other players as in real life. One thing I don't like about Starcitizen is it auto quantum drive, boring as hell. No skill or danger.

Why are you making this game so easy and less dangerous all the time. We want more risk and skill based play.

I would have rather they spent time on module storage screen putting transferring items at the top of list, or a filter to find stuff. Amazing.... I am gob smacked

My wife stuck it her very first try and she's never played anything like this before. I've been playing first person space sims, many with more difficult flight models, for decades.
On PS4, less than half the players ever upgrade from a Sidewinder. That suggests they get frustrated and quit before learning how to fly "gud". I'm sure Stephen Curry and his wife and shoot 3-pointers all day, but that doesn't mean everyone is gifted like this. So don't take this wrong (I like you, you're my shadow guy), but I'm guessing Frontier is more interested in helping the 52% of players who really struggle to learn the game than they are you and your gifted wife, especially since these "training wheels" are optional.

Questions - are the beginner systems current systems that have been marked off for beginners, or have you created new planets for beginners? What's the lore / mechanic that prevents Elite pilots from entering these systems?

Seriously. Demand systems that only permit Elite Players. The lore is. Snowflake commanders now require special system specially built for them. Once they become Mostly Harmless they get booted out into the welcoming arms of the rest of the Player Federation community.

  • Training Missions and Challenge Scenarios will now be accessible via the cockpit, allowing you to brush up your skills right from the seat of your ship.

I wish you would add some custom quick action missions, where we could choose or modify one of our ships and pit it against AI or players for combat, without worrying about rebuys.

All my big ships are going to have advanced DCs fitted instantly. It will be more space-ish.

Its the newbie update then , lol.
Sounds nice, but i doubt i will require these as an Elite.
Interstellar Initiatives do sound interesting though. Looking forward to see how these are planned.
Storyline, development, cause \ effect etc. i hope you have some interesting content and not just 'Chain CG's' like chain missions.
Bring on some immersion where we have some effect in the outcomes, whichever way they turn.

why so much anger over autopilot? consider it as a step to the cosmonogues, you have planned the route, gave the order and went through the ship to re-stick the stickers on your srv or inventory the cargo, in the meantime the ship will take you to your destination.

You will find two panels in the Commodities Market, Buy and Sell. Each new panel will provide you with important information:
  • Trade data on nearby local systems per commodity
  • Select markets or goods and view their trade data in the Galaxy Map.
