Looking to take the VR plunge

The Vive uses lighthouses to transmit specific IR patterns, that the HMD/controller receives. The Rift uses a camera(s) to "see" where the HMD/controller is. Others, such as WMR's use an inside-out method.

As the Pimax 5k becomes more and more available (thru ebay and so), there is actually no reason to use anything else. Believe me, once you seen the Pimax field of view, anything else is just disappointing

I have 2000 hrs in Elite vr and it will blow you away in Elite. What is your computer and video card set up. You may also look at Samsung for video quality and price. Also wait till the new Rift S is out before deciding.

BUT Z390 MoBo and 16GB 3200.
Looking to upgrade GPU and CPU near Xmas.

Nice this setup will run any hmd.
Rift and Vive are plug and play where
Pimax may need some configuration

There is currently no new stuff in the pipeline even remotely close to the Pimax.
However what is true is that you need some modding....Deluxe Audio Strap, 14mm vrcover replacement of you wear glasses.

I picked up a rift from gumtree for a couple hundred quid the other week and I have to say I was blown away by it. Nice entry level piece of kit that was pretty much plug and play, runs ED directly from the desktop you just need to set it up in game via the settings for 3D.
The biggest problem I had was my binding file wouldn’t load but after a little head scratching I worked out it was because I had unplugged EDtracker. Once I deleted any reference to it from my binding file all was good.
