I've seen a hot chick or two playing ED, back before it was out on PS4 so all I could do was watch other people play it.

You never know, I might be a hot chick pretending to be an old guy so not to get harassed ;)

not all "influencers" are paid by companies or given special treatment. Some are simply passionate gamers who want to make their voices heard or promote their philosophy. I personally enjoy turning on an ED stream while exploring out in the black or hauling cargo. It gives me something fun to listen to other than the whirring of my FSD.

That being said, as a streamer myself with a strong passion for ED, I'd love to be seen by FDev :) If seeing how a legally blind person plays ED is even remotely interesting, links in the sig :)

Asside from that bit of mindless self promotion, I've found Mr_W4RpATH to be quite enjoyable as well as a few others I can't remember at the moment.

The Gaming Discourse posted his only video on ED a month ago titled "My Love/Hate Relationship With Elite Dangerous (An Informal Review)." It was his summary/review of ED. Despite not having some of the new features that came with the 3.3 update and one or two things explained incorrectly, I found it nicely done overall. As he mentions in the beginning, though, one can't make a short video when giving a summary of what type of game ED is. I'll now be directing anyone asking me about ED to his video. If they're still interested, I'll direct them to other content creators.

I don't know how famous he is, but I like Blind Pew's vids. He is relaxed, unpretentious and quite fun. And the videos have really good production quality.

But that's a different thing entirely. A good youtube video with production value (like Isinona's storytelling within the game) has meaning and can be fun to watch.
But a streamer just playing the game and talking crap, that doesn't interest me.

Oh it's that we are talking about. Right, I don't give 1 penny for twitch. Never understood this. But some people must be watching this stuff. I even found there has appeared an e-sport channel on my tv recently. It's really really a strange thing. o_O

I'm only interested in streams by dev's explaining what they're up to. With all due respect, I don't get watching people playing a game that I can play myself.
Also, no idea what an influencer is - sounds like babestation but with blokes playing games and chatting about stuff I don't care about.

That's a valid opinion that I can't exactly argue with. Truth is though that other streamers share opinions, information, and even have discussions with others who join the chat. This can be a very nice way to not feel alone while out in the black. It's like having your friends and community members join you in your cockpit while you fly.

Actually..... none to be honest.

1) Common Livestreams I find extremely boring. While it does offer a little insight into other Games, I see no point in watching i.e. other ELITE players streaming a Game I can play myself (?)
I sure wouldn't want to bore anyone with what I'm doing at the moment (Exploration) and see no reason why anyone would want to watch something like that.

2) other type of content creators.... yes, occasionally, IF they're funny and original
I've seen some remarkable and very funny Videos about ELITE, most are quite old though.

Overall, ever since "Youtuber" became a profession and "Influencer/Content creator" became an Industry tool, the whole idea quickly got contaminated with business interests.
That's probably why I don't "subscribe" and refuse all that associated (a)social media bells&jingles.

So if you or anyone approaches me with "who's your favorite Influencers" I'll probably say : none. They don't exist - at least not to me.

But since "Content providers" is a nicely broad term, this is what I use on a regular basis :
  • EDSM
  • INARA
  • EDDB
  • EDMC
  • Spansh
  • Discord Channels

Someone posted a guy recently who does like a Go Pro type creative approach, he's a technician on ships in a station and he was adding a HUD color change to a sidewinder. It was a quality production. I'd like to see more from him. He goes by "Mechanicman".

I feel the same but my grandson and his friends love to watch live streams of gamers. So it's a big thing to younger people moreso than older people (not guessing your age, just know mine).

THE Yamiks. ;) He's both fun to watch (unlike many others) and his criticism is factual.
And he CREATES content, unlike many others that just upload their gameplay.
Judging by the number of subscribers, he's quite influential in our small community as well...

Unfortunately his knowledge of the game and factuality of his criticism is highly diminished by his language.
I have no problems with swearing but his level of profanity is so cringe-worthy that I can't watch more than two minutes of hs videos in one sitting.
There is a healthy level of cussing that can give your arguments the right "oomph", and then there's Yamiks. Sorry THE Yamiks.
My local pub is a dump of highest order, but if Yamiks opened his mouth there, he would be leaving wigh a black eye, ten minutes later. :LOL:
