This place makes me wonder....

They take us seriously? :)
Well I specifically asked for a supercruise autopilot about a year ago (a thread which quickly filled up with "This will ruin the game!" replies), and here we are now getting a supercruise autopilot!

"They" may be selective, however, since nobody on the PS4 team is listening to me..... :(

I've been thinking the same thing myself. When I complain about legitimate game-wrecking bugs, I'm considered a "hater of Frontier", but I've practically been a "white knight" defending Frontier regarding this new update, which while not perfect, is pretty darn good IMO. I find the "You're giving us new module slots and forcing us to CHOOSE what goes in those slots, that's so unfair!" threads to be particularly irksome...

Oh well, if nothing else this will just train Frontier not to take any of us seriously.... :(

I'm in the same boat.
I've got plenty to complain about, regarding ED and Fdev specifically, but then they come with a cool new feature big or small and I'm all jolly about it.
And in the meantime I take pauses playing the game but always get sucked back in.

Wether I want to admit it or not ED remains to be my number one game.

First there were a wave of threads bemoaning the lack of update from FDev, I even wrote one of them myself, then when we do get an announcement there is a rake of bickering about what was announced, whcih I suppose is typical of an internet forum. But this afternoon, I see someone has started a thread based on what they could drag out of the back of the ice planet closet?

Why so much moaning? We are kind of reaping what we sow here, if we drown every announcement in vitriol, you can understand why they will be reticent about making more announcements. But if they don't make such announcements that just cracks open another jar of vitriol. Why?

It might come as a surprise to find that the forum membership are NOT a monolithic hive-mind.

Different people have different expectations, different priorities and different standards so they'll respond in different ways to different developments.

Whoda thunk it, eh?

AHH so what you REALLY mean is ..... It is ok to be salty when you don't like something or a very minor visual bug which does not get fixed but because it is a feature you want anyone concerned about it is an unreasonable whiner.....

Got it! ;)

(Note am mostly teasing )

Speak for yourself, the rest of us in this hive totally dsagree with that sentiment which is why we haven't assimilated you into our collective consciousness.

It's odd, really. They try things, everyone gets excited at a new level of participation, then they tire of it and drop it.

I can't remember all the chain of FD attempts at better communication, but Sandro's Focused Feedback was a big thing, but it became a one-way commentary on the game and it just fizzled out. It wasn't the first, and it wasn't the last. Periodically, they say "we will communicate more" but that fizzles out also .....

I think what they mean is "we will communicate more when we have something to tell you." They will always say "we value your feedback," it's a required for any customer relations these days, along with "thankyou for reaching out to us," but whether it means anything in the end is debatable. Meanwhile, we just have to learn patience ........

Actually for a game site this one is pretty civil.
I remember being on the Minecraft beta forums, where there were threadnaughts all the time just chock full of angry stupid. One giant one that turned extremely nasty, was about punkins that hadn't even been implemented yet. Just punkins. And threats of violence over peoples' ideas about the future punkins. >__>

i resumed playing 2 days ago after nearly half a year out of the game... Soo many things have changed and some for the better some make me go what but now I am getting a hang of some of the new mechanics (missions requiring you to add the cargo from the mission giver to your hold instead of it going there automatically what!!!) I can see the benefits.

Really enjoying re-learning mining all over again with the new scanner and different modules for that - they finally gave mining some love and made it actually just as lucrative than combat missions yay!!!

People will moan about stuff either its through lack of understanding or boredom or just to moan...

Slay them all. Leave none alive.

FDev are a business, a PLC, and run as such rather than the oft fondly imagined haven of the gamer friendly developer ...I expect communication from them in the same way I expect communication from my bank...when they want money or are advertising something I neither want nor need.

They have focus groups they listen to, us lot?...Not so much. BT (my favourite PLC for dergotatory remarks) employ special folks who answer complaints...nice folks who are all sympathetic to your wailing and gnashing of teeth but have completely no power to action on any of it...a bit like an agony aunt letting you blow off steam whilst absolutely nothing practical is achieved whatsoever. This forum is just like that...somewhere we can talk amongst ourselves whilst the company focus group discuss shareholder's concerns with the suits and beancounters without irritation and interruption from the noisy peasants.

Dealing with FDev PLC is about as engaging as dealing with online insurance comparison sites...you can just guarantee once you click on that button, there's going to be spam email somewhere in your inbox every couple of weeks telling you nothing of interest whatsoever 😉

FD could give us free ships, fill all our mats, fix every bug, well whatever and some here would still find something to complain about - it is as simple as that!
All of that sounds like a NEEDLESS PENALTY!

I'm just kidding, of course. Though as a minimalist, please don't give me every ship because I'll just turn around and sell 90% of them 🙃

What occurred to me over the last days is that it's not necessarily Frontier who fuels negativity but other posters on the forum. When you believe you've written some very constructive criticism and people just disagree without even understanding the argument it often leads to snarky and sarcastic conversations. Luckily I am not stupid enough to call people White Knights for it, although it would be easier. It's not always possible to understand the argument simply because we often have very different perspectives based on the way we play the game or what we feel the future of the game should look like. As I've said earlier, I believe the community often looks more negative than we actually are.
