Only 10s cooldown on the drag effect? Nice job.

Why can't we get rid of weapon special effects? Let;s keep the module specials, but have weapons just do damage. There's a wild thought. No space magic in a universe with no autopilot. While we're at it, can we nerf the FDL just a little, or buff all the other combat ships 'just a tad'?

Can't, because due to hitpool then everyone would fly Cutters etc. You need reverb and fsd interrupt to even achieve kills (real kills, not 3D shielded Asps)

I'm not really serious, but you're right, of course. Some are good, but it would simply take too long to make a list of ones I think should go, and ones that should stay and people wouldn't agree, and meh...get rid of all the specials, rethink defense values.

After a year and a half in "SOLO", I changed to "OPEN". Been 5 months and haven't had one single issue with a human. Recon I'll stay until someone fires off a round of these new weapons in which I can no longer escape from; WHEN not IF it does happen, it will involve a CL, (oops, scratch that) I mean an internet disconnect and a restart back to "SOLO".

That's definitely wrong, CZ special forces at least use phasing, as well as pirate assassination targets and wings.

Never come across a PIrate assassination target using specials, never bother with CZ's these days. What other specials, in 4 years I have never been hit by a single special, how new is all of this?

Have you ever been hit by an NPC with the old drag effect on missiles. Heck I've never even been hit by an NPC firing a standard torp.

I have no idea but my G5'd FdL is hard pressed to to a wing assassination against three engineered vultures and a target engineered FdL. More often then not I have to run.
Phasing is the most obvious effect as I lose hull while shields are still up. Next time I do one I take notes :)

Pirate assassinations don't, wing assassinations do. I 'think' I've been hit by drag in a wing assassination, maybe...I'm not really sure. Engineered NPCs were introduced in 3.0 with the wing assassinations, then later added to with pirate activity zones and CZs in 3.3 (I think that timeline's right)

Yep, sorry, wing assassinations is correct.

Wing missions use them all the time.

You say further down that you're not serious, but I actually agree with you, as a lot of SEs are magical. I'd be happy if SEs were erased, if some of the more "logical" ones would automatically be applied to certain weapons. Forced shell effects on all cannons, for example, because when a boat gets hit by a big shell, you bet grandma's bonnet it gets knocked around! Beam lasers should automatically cause heat on the target to rise, because you are cooking them with a laser, LOL. Perhaps all burst could have a bit of shield 'bleed through' due to their fast speed. All rail guns could be superpen, because I would just assume they would be anyway. Etc.

As for MCs, cannons, and other ammo-based weapons, have it so you buy specific ammo types, like you do for REAL GUNS (corrosive bullets, incendiary, etc). Ditch the OP rounds like emissive. No engineering required, and it offers more flexibility!

Long story short, I think you are on to something, but sadly Frontier will never actually do this.
