Space Force Presents: Operation Drag Queen

Well that's what happen when you antagonize other people just for the fun of it. Consequences, you know?

The typical consequence is the other poor pilot goes to rebuy.

And there are people who play in open and who aren't hopeless seals who like to escape ganks, and now it will be harder for them. Consequences of a poorly thought out engineering buff.

The guides are not what i'm referring to.

You know what's my favorite part about people who opine on politeness? It's always to just your face.

This entire conversation would be elevated if more people spoke plainly and stopped holding back for perceived advantage.

My thoughts exactly. I typically have gankers surround my vette like flies during the FSD spinup phase. Shields up or down. 10 or 12 seconds to jump. Doesnt matter with all that armor and 3 MRP. I'm waving bye bye with or without boost.

Of course. Massive HP ships with adequate internal protection and a competent pilot will continue to be unkillable unless the pilot chooses to fight until the end.

The real losers are t-9s, t-7s, probably pythons too. They are now much easier to grom and torp. They will be module sniped or just flat out destroyed during the FSD reset and bootup phase, especially from wing ganks but I bet even single ships can pull it off if they are good at killing thrusters/FSD/PP or if the victim has neglected their hull (which they usually do).

(The same danger applies to large warship shieldtanks that neglect HRPs and MRPs, but no one should shed any tears for them....)

Thanks for your comment. Here is my answer, I'll just phrase it how some people do : "It's just a game, you shouldn't take it so seriously"

it's been a crapload of posts today in short time, no doubt much got lost under the noise. we're all human and communication does not just happen, it requires effort.

look: at this point i don't even know if there is a problem with drag. the only fact i've read has been form mr. lehman saying, more or less, 'it's annoying but not game breaking' after testing with friends. not much, but that's all for now. and we have already a crusade in the oven where i probably will enlist just for the fun. we all have indeed a communication problem. i would be surprised otherwise, with a few hundred 1st world white males bashing keyboards simultaneously on release day :D

Was wondering the same on my Python. I like to run 240 ton cargo to double up on 120 ton delivery missions, but I'll almost certainly end up with 192 tons cargo now to beef up that hull in case I have to eat a reboot.

My 640 ton cargo T-9 is already built under the assumption it will have to eat a bunch of damage with 1k shields and 7k effective hull across resists + 2x mrp.

This is a net negative for literally everyone except brainless gankers. PvP now has a god-button which you can't be really competitive without (and come on, all you need is one small hardpoint spamming frag shots), people getting ganked are obviously now even more at a disadvantage.
Maybe the PvE crowd gets off okay.

Agreed.

Actually I start to feel that a lot of devs really do play this game... but sadly in the ganking side.

My real one? It's fun to see people getting upset because of a change that MAY make the game unfun to them, while they have no problem making the game unfun for others. Got it?

I do. You're way off base.

The activities of Open Play (a very popular mode) are explicitly condoned by FDEV. You can attack and destroy players for any reason or none.

Second, it's not that the change makes the game un-fun for us but because it is objectively a bad change to the game (go check out AshenFox's research thread; it doesn't even work on NPCs!). It's plainly un-fun for a lot of the player base. The vast majority of people who are knowledgeable and talented in this game are against it. They are also very passionate about the game, so why shouldn't they be upset?

And this change has been decided and went through live, without Beta testing, so is condoned by FDEV. You should be ok with it and not argue it, no?

And regarding this change, so what? A lot of engineering mods are broken.
You can have un-engineered ships facing murderships. It is far from being the most broken thing in the game.
I could make a list as long as couple of A4 pages of things not balanced.

What I find ironic is that you have no problem hiding behind FDEV design choice unless it affects you and how you play the game.
That tells a lot.

Not really going to lower my fun. I'll gank with or without drag, and the PvP pilots I care to dance with for actual combat challenge will abide by loadout rules if we agree on them.

Sure it makes "organic" PvP a bit crappier but it's already crappy.

So to me it just sounds like you're fantasizing we're getting a taste of our own medicine, when in fact it is those are are getting ganked who have a new bitter pill to swallow. This will not ruin the game for us despite your hopes, we simply recognize what a bad change it is.

I'm not fantasizing or being bitter, I'm having as much fun as Distant Gank people were having. You can see it as "Forum ganking" if you want.
I just enjoy karma bitting back at people having fun at the depends of others.

If it doesn't affect you (people doing PVP), why the drama then?

This is against the TOS of the forums. Perhaps it will be moderated.

I doubt you're having as much fun as we were though.

No drama here. I rationally explained the ramifications of the engineering buff, I wasn't engaging in speculation regarding emotional enjoyment of it.

To anyone who is actually worried by this (and still wants to play in Open): Block Lists are still a thing. I don't use them personally, I don't even advocate using them (the networking and instancing code has enough to deal with), but they're there and they're sanctioned by FDev.

Very good suggestion. Just block the griefers. That's what I do, works a treat :)
