Fed up after the April update.

I started this game a week ago, since the update I get attacked by a NPC every single jump. I'm playing in solo mode because I didn't want all the dog fighting.
Totally fed up and quitting this nonsense.
Are you talking about supercruise interdictions? Before you quit, please consider providing a detailed description of what's happening to you and what changes you'd like to see.

Go outside and scream as loud as you can, then give it another go.
You'll scare the neighbors but it worked for me.
Seriously though, spend some time reading the help for new player threads, as mentioned by others.

In before the classic "buht itz cawwld Elite : DANGEROuS yu noob!"... Wait for it. It will come from the Elite faithful.
A 7 year old could shoot down a real F16 fighter if the 7 year is in a Anaconda equipped as a fighter taking on a low to mid level cargo, exploration or mining ship. No skill required at all. If that's what you want great, but the game bills itself as more than just a simple shooter yet that's all it is.

hmmm I have not had any shots fired on me tonight, nor have I fired on any ships, I just avoided the interdictions in the first place, running elite (and other) high value missions for reputation gains and stacking multiple missions so I am seeing a reasonable number of interdiction attempts this session but no success in even seeing my paintjob let alone shooting a laser at me from the bad guys yet...

I spent my first couple days doing the training scenarios, until I was comfortable and had figured out how I wanted my controls.

Then I started playing in solo. Took off from my starting location, hit a light post on my way up and never looked back.

Played in solo for a while, until I felt I wouldn’t embarrass myself. Logged in to Open...

Nothing bad happened, but the performance dropped so significantly I was sort of astonished. I wondered if connectivity ran through an asynchronous frame-relay that gave off regular showers of Sparks. Ships skipped across space like stones on a pond. Did some quick analysis, found throughout to be less than 1/100 of my bandwidth, ran a few more tests between myself and some of the peers I was connected with (other players) and... they might as well been on dialup, which was what was making my performance look so bad.

I switched to a private group, performance shot up like an Atlas Rocket. The difference sealed the deal for me.

Got use to NPCs chasing me, got really good at shaking off NPC Interdiction, got decent at fighting NPCs, and have enjoyed this long, strange trip ever since.

Op i think the majority of people that bought this game going in blindly quit with low hours played and this new update really didn't fix that!

Did you take some missions, by any chance?

Anyway, bye!

In solo mode, go to a Nav. Beacon (without carrying any goods and as long as you are not wanted yourself, you be fine) and learn to identify / scan wanted ships (it's easy to identify them - they will send you a message asking if you've got anything) lock them in (but don't shoot yet) and use the radar to track them. Once you operate this fast enough, you may try shooting on a wanted ship and soon enough the Security will join in. Be careful to observe the wanted ship is not flying in a wing (2 or 3 ships together) else a few ships will be firing back at you. Watch your ship's health and you can super cruise away anytime. Soon you be blowing up wanted ships and you will feel really good !

If you watch OAnt's video, he shows the starter system is packed with ships of various kinds (up to Python, I think) and as far as Expert level. That's got to be OT challenging for new starters !

Thats funny because I haven't used my weapons once in the last three months of playing the game. So if it is as you say, a shooter game, that means I must have been sitting there looking at a blank screen. Well I can assure you that I haven't. I have done plenty of trade runs in unamed trade vessels, I have also done Trade runs in an unarmed and unshielded duing a Community Goal in open mode too. That was also fun. But if all you want to do is do some trucking without anything else potentially happening to you, then ED is probably not the game for you. It has NPC's, some are good, some are bad and will want your cargo. Learn how to avoid interdiction and you will be fine, also learn how to high wake after an interdiction, this helps.
