This is just how games forums go. People start stop and return to a game/forum all the time no drama perfectly normal player turnover.
A tiny minority of edge cases having quit stay around posting resentfully at everything the dev's ever do or say and they can't stand other people who are having fun. In some cases they stay for years endlessly banging on about some trivial nerf/buff/thing that they are a bit obsessive about.
The more time elapses the more of them a forum collects and the toxic it becomes. Some forums deal with it by immediately deleting the accounts of people who ragequit just to keep it down.
We've got loads of them hence Bazmeson being such a legend.

I'm 51, I did play the original games and I'm too old to put up with all the crap on here. I'm also already bored with the term "salt" - it's not a term I use or see used anywhere else that I go online nor is it used by anyone I know in real life. I came back to the game after 4 years away and I'm away again after less than two weeks. I remembered some of the reasons I stopped playing last time but the forum wasn't one then, sadly it is now. Not the sort of community I want to be part of.

I've seen it crop up once or twice elsewhere but it does seem particularly commonly used here. It's not a term I like, it carrries connotations of "there's something wrong with you for being annoyed," and that's an attitude we could do with less of (not to mention that it just sounds silly).
Sadly, you'll find it peppered throughout the forum.
Not intentionally salt mongering, but I can see where you are coming from and perhaps a forum post in the suggestion with the less sarcastic and more insightful bits of this thread might be made later.How is this thread not salt or salt mongering in and of itself? This isn't in the forums suggestion and discussions section even.

Could you source that reaction? A quick google search didn't yield any such reactions although vinegar dissolves salt.

I believe both, the forums and Frontier are nuts. Flimley and that Zarek Null guy are probably the only sane persons here.
Frontier still managed to somehow create my most favourite game though and I am also addicted to the ridiculous amounts of nonsense we create on the forums.
Anyway, I believe everyone at Frontier does a pretty good job, they are just not very talented in making it look good. If that makes any sense (it probably doesn't, I guess I am nuts too and blame T.j. for it).
