Re: Deciat - CMDR Killer on the loose

As others have said, there is no need of hiding in Solo. There are good evasion techniques, which nearly always work. (I nearly always fly in open and I've been attacked, but never killed by gankers) Just gear your ship for the trip as you would do in other situations. (Make sure that you're not flying a paper plane, at least triple your original hull points and get some resistances). When you're confident in your combat experience (and a good way to get your rebuys), head to Deciat, Eravate or Shinrarta and find someone to fight, most people are actually happy to join a friendly sparring match.

I think PvP should influence the BGS and give influence to Anarchy factions. Deciat should be an Anarchy System, to mark the danger, especially to newbies.

Hello fellow CMDR's

just a heads up for anyone visiting the DECIAT system to see felicity farseer - I was trying to get to GARAY terminal after completing the engineers opening which im glad ive now got.. only to find im interdicted and I couldn't stop the interdiction no matter how much I was stable on the escape vector - I was then obliterated in a few seconds.. my insurance is now 3,000,000 - aint gotta problem with that - paid my insurance and got back on board to leave the station only to be pulled out again and killed.. ive only got 10,000,000 left now - while I was seething I noticed that in the chat that someone else had just been killed - I am now going to give this game a break for a couple of days and come back when im feeling better - darn virus

Oh, no! Another player playing how he wants, 'blazing his own path', using his weapons in a game that allows players to use their weapons against each other for whatever reason they want with no obligation to tell you that reason. Oh, the humanity! Better tell everyone all about it!

Deciat last night wasn't a pleasant place to be. Was in a private group but watching the system chatter, there was heavy duty verbal abuse going on which has no place in Elite or any other game.

Various lowlifes were indulging in what I assume was smacktalking of other commanders in a public channel. Luckily, the report button was handy.

Attacking others in a ship 10x more powerful then theirs is chicken crap and the ones who do it are no better then the white spot on top of the chicken crap which is chicken crap.

I'm all for pvp when its at least semi balanced, this game doesnt have that. And who gave all of you the power to tell others how to play their game?
Noone. Thats right you cant tell me or others how to play a video game that we bought with our money.
You might be morally correct, also regarding play style, but an anarchy system is by both game-rules and the lore a dangerous place. You will also be warned when charging FSD for jumping into an anarchy system. While I don't approve ganking, I think anarchy should be dangerous places to make the game more interesting.

Edit: Had been in Deciat yesterday, besides a number of CZs, it was peaceful.

So my responce to you Phisto and others like you.... I will play the game how i want and if that means reporting every last ganker and murder hobo out there everyday for the first 20 minutes of my game play time from the list i have and keep adding to it after 1200 hrs in this game i will
Clogging up the support team with reports of "somebody blew up my ship in open play" is just going to waste their time that they could be spending on looking into actually actionable reports (like long-term persistent harassment and so on) or investigating reports to make sure they are actionable (that person vanished off your screen - was it an actual clog or just a desync?)

This is exactly what happened to second life back in the day - the devs actually had to put out an announcement to use the in-sim tools to block/eject minor annoyances because people were mashing report over such minor things (I tried it out when it first went free to play, tried building some things on my first day, didn't know that owned land was a thing, and came on the next day to some snooty PM telling me I'd been "blocked and reported" for the "abuse" of leaving an object on someone's e-lawn, as an example) that the support team were completely swamped and didn't have the resources to combat actual griefing and abuse - which is something that groups like ED and 4chan took gleeful advantage of.

So, yeah, spending 20 minutes mashing report on everyone you meet every day is actively making the problem worse. Thanks a lot.

Well, if you were shot at, you probably deserved it. There is always 2 sides of the story, you know...
I wouldn't say "deserved". "Existed" is probably more accurate. In the absense of any kind of PvE mode (besides pseudo-modes like PGs), anywhere you see an unknown CMDR you should be ready for combat - even if it's rare that you'll actually encounter a hostile CMDR outside of a hotspot. It happens though, even in usually-safe systems, but if you're not in a hotspot the best way to get a random murderhobo to leave is to just go elsewhere for a while and wait for them to get bored. If there's no fish in the water they'll find somewhere else to go fishing.

For what it's worth we were all fighting in Deciat the last 3 days/nights. I didn't see any cheating or script kiddies (unless you consider premium ammo cheating), but I still managed to get killed by HP's crew twice, those frag mambas with premium ammo hit really hard. Last night we (GARD) were patrolling Shinny, while the rest of SPEAR were in Deciat. It's been a fun two days trying to prevent Harry from ganking on his stream and then last night having an epic 3v3 with some of the G-clan guys in Shinny

Good vs Evil PvP in this game is really active at the moment, if it sounds like something that would interest you (fighting for good), get in touch.
