Steam Numbers Now

With only small updates, for the next 18 months or so, people are going to think the is stagnating. However, the game is not in maintenance mode, we wouldn't be getting those updates or the Interstellar Initiatives.

Although, I am hoping that they've learnt a few lessons from the first I.I. because that new update feels a long way off at the moment.

Really.... (emphasis mine)

Maybe YOU should eat YOUR socks. I should have started this thread with "Well, it's always time for a steamcharts thread, even though they tend to be silly. Or maybe precisely because they tend to be silly!" in response to your thread :p

PS - there have been other threads like this, but I'm having a terrible time with the forum search. FWIW, there are probably more doom threads than there are "quite an achievement" threads.
No, YOU should eat YOUR socks:

Until someone posts the Steam numbers right after a major update and / or a holiday sale, then Steam numbers are equal to the 10 Commandments blazed in stone by the finger of God...🤨

The thread you linked was specifically created because people used to post steamcharts threads when the numbers are low in between updates and I made fun of that (because they are unable to understand simple logic and data). Some of my comments in that thread:

"Well, it's always time for a steamcharts thread, even though they tend to be silly. Or maybe precisely because they tend to be silly!"

"Now if these numbers are anything to go by (they probably aren't)"

"Ultimately it doesn't matter since steam charts are pretty useless anyway."

"When the steam numbers are low the very same people always tell you that they will go up again with the next major update. You just ignore that."

"That's not true. Actually it's the other way around, some people always claim that the game is dying and doomed because steam numbers are lower than before and I tell them that this always happens between major updates and that the numbers will go up again. They never believe me and say they would eat their socks if the game isn't dying and yet here we are, the game is not dead."

At least one of that posts was a direct response to you. I always like you most when you are not trying to be dishonest in order to win an argument that nobody made.

I currently don't play ED any more, but I am still fond of the game (It's just that I've exhaused my time with it after thousands of hours, which is fine.)

Nevertheless, I tend to re-visit this forum every now and then just to stay in touch.
And oh dear! If there ever was any proof that time travel is possible, it can be found here!

Does anybody know the TV series "Lucifer"? (I guess so; it's quite popular.)
It's just like the show's description of hell ...
Endless repetition of the same thing again ... and again ... and again ... and again ...

My "baseless assumptions" come literally from what you say:

"What specific bugs are you talking about? I have been playing for 2 weeks now with literally not a single issue on PS4. No crashes. No game breaking bugs. Nothing."

Now, maybe you meant to say that you've played for 2 weeks on PS4 while you also played dozens of years on PC. But that's not quite what you communicated above, "champ".

So drop the attitude. You're acting like a child towards everyone here. We're voicing our opinions in a pretty civilized manner while you snap at everyone. Nobody cares.

You baselessly assumed that I have only been playing the game for only two weeks and therefore my opinion didn't matter. And then went even further to say that since I hadn't been on the forum as long as you my opinion didn't matter either. All while I have over 5 weeks worth of gametime in the game and joined the forum less than 6 months after you.

You dismissing my opinions based on nothing but your own crappy assumptions is what is childish. And you are the one with attitude. Go back and read your post dismissing what I had to say and talking about me being in the "honeymoon period" and tell me you are not the one here with an attitude. Grow up.

I'll just put this into perspective for you.... 48W played on my main account with about 30 billion in cash, 3 Cutters, 2 Corvettes, and a multitude of other ships. There's another 4 accounts heavily played with more billions than I care to mention. My most recent account, has 28 hours played, is Elite Explorer, Elite Trader, has a Cutter and a Corvette.

None of that matters.. The game has bugs that have been present for years. My 'Impression' is the game is stagnating.

And yet you still refuse to name any of them to me despite me asking you to do so multiple times now. If there are so many and I am so blind to them then TELL ME WHAT THEY ARE. That way I can keep an eye out for them and report them myself.

You going on and on about bugs and issues while not even trying to explain what you mean is not helping anyone.

Sure kiddo. Look at yourself, maturely shouting at other posters. Blocked.

Dude are you serious right now? lol

- You said my opinion didn't matter because I was in the "honeymoon phase"

- You said I had only been playing for 2 weeks

- You said I needed to be a member of the forum longer in order for my opinion to matter

And then when I point out that

- I have been playing the game for nearly 2 years now

- I have been apart of the forum almost as long as you

And then instead of just admitting you were wrong and that you made some incorrect assumptions you decide that I am "shouting" at people and therefore block me? You need to seriously grow up lol its okay to be wrong. No need to throw people on ignore for correcting you. Jesus.

He is serious. He doesn't actually want to talk about anything, he doesn't want you to keep an eye open. He doesn't want you to report them, he doesn't want a good-faith discussion. He wants to tell everyone he is unhappy and game iz terrible, and if you disagree it is because 'u so noob'. And if you are not than you are rude for pointing it out. Normally when someone claims you will change your mind with experience, and then learns the person he talks to is experienced, he apologizes for the mistake and adjusts his opinion. Some here won't, because they don't care about any of that. As I said earlier, it is pointless. If someone only wants to tell everyone how stupid stuff is and how unhappy he is, let them. There is nothing to gain from interacting with them as they aren't interested in hearing anything beyond "lol I agree diz so stupit!".

All these threads have one thing in common. They are posted by people who don't understand steamcharts. They don't know the difference between peak and average players. They don't know that the graph on steamcharts is completely wrong because the first half of it is always flattened which makes it appear like there was a huge and steady player base while the majority of the line that should represent an entire year (or 5 years) only represents a single day. They don't know that there are other platforms. They don't know about the correlation between playing time and average players. They don't know that less people play in between updates. They don't know that the death of the game is as old as the game. And some of them don't even realise that steamcharts shows concurrent players and not the total playerbase. There is probably no better way to say 'I have no idea what I am doing' than creating a steamcharts thread.

Agreed. I just can't believe he went so far as to block me just because he was wrong. That is just complete overkill. Oh well I guess that saves me from getting baited by him in the future.

It's patently obvious to anyone that wants to read the bug board what the current bugs are and what the old bugs are. I refuse to pamper to what I consider to be juvenile 'name the bugs' type trolls.

I've no problem with you loving the game or whatever, but let's keep it real eh? There are bugs, lots of bugs, and some really old bugs.

Just to whet your appetite;

Killing a ship that has a launched fighter, sometimes leaves the fighter behind.
Sometimes a launched fighter turns into a ghost ship and still manages to do damage to you.

There's just 2 to start you off, but you probably haven't seen these because judging by your 'competent' ranking, you've done very little combat.

Oh no you don't!
I'm not getting your damned EBL on my system!
If it were a Playstation exclusive, there would be no EBL. It's lazy PC programming that has ruined the game. Thankfully I'm enjoying Red Dead Redemption 2 in glorious graphical detail on my humble PS4 - no lazy programming there! 😎

Regarding the actual topic, as of a few minutes ago:

108. Elite Dangerous 3,078
109. Assassin's Creed Origins 3,036
110. Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition 2,983
111. No Man's Sky 2,923

Sure, that's exactly what happened.

So there is a guy who keeps badgering people for them to "show" him bugs. He also says, and I quote "I have been playing for 2 weeks now with literally not a single issue on PS4.".

Seems pretty reasonable to assume that he's a new player and has not noticed bugs. I proceed to tell him, in all honesty and with no foul language, that I was like him once when in the honeymoon period (I remember thinking: "what do these guys have to complain about, this game is amazing!") and only spending time with the game and in the forum (not because spending time here makes you a particularly stand-up person, but because you see how Frontier deals with the community) changed my opinion of the game and how it is developed. I nowhere used the word "noob".

Said guy proceeds to throw a tantrum, calling people "champ", accusing them to be "full of crap", shouting at others ("If there are so many and I am so blind to them then TELL ME WHAT THEY ARE").

Guy acts outraged when I decide to not engage and rather block him. Shocking, I know.

Nobody is supposed to make a nice tidy list of bugs for him, no matter how many CAPS he decides to use. There are forum sections that deal with that, I'm not gonna do the homework for anyone. And anyone who's been around knows the amount of bugs this game has. Besides, bugs are the least of my problems. The topic at hand was how active players are, and how lively the community in this period.

I have no interest in saying that "I am unhappy". I am very happy playing other games. But I have all the rights to say why I think that the game's development comes short of certain standards of quality. It's so sad that to be "open-minded" in this place means to bend over backwards and defend this videogame no matter what, and to gang up (and the same known names magically show up when there's some whiteknighting to do) against whoever has more negative opinions.

Not necessarily, I am not new and have been playing quite regularly in the last few months and to be honest I dont remember any significant bugs at all. Or at least not as doomsday-ish as indicated by some here. The most annoying one some text strings in missions not reading properly and my VR hanging up on ocassion when exiting the game.

I mean I do not doubt there are bugs, most games have their share, but in my case there has not been anything at all game breaking or major in any way. Been doing the Guardian runs, engineering galore, missions, tons of deep core mining and some explo. All in VR btw.

But, hey, maybe just me.
