Some help, please.

Ok, so I've decided I want to take my Thrusters mod to G5.

To do that, I need to unlock Professor Palin.

To unlock him, I need to unlock Marco Qwent.

To unlock Marco, I need 25 Modular Terminals.

According to Inara and EDDB, there is not one single station in the Galaxy that's selling them.

I went to Qwent Research Base to see if there was any help there. Perhaps he wanted them from a specific location. But, no such luck.

How do I unlock Marco then?

Some help would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

Are there any other data bases that might tell me where I need to go get those Modular Terminals?

I'm currently sitting at Qwent Research Base scratching my head.

You can use Inara to make a crafting list for your desired modifications, if you also import your data it tells you which materials you still need. That way you don't get bored looking for missions offering Modular Terminals because you can also take missions for the other stuff.

its worth mentioning that whilst looking at missions make a note of the items listed as rewards, there was once a time when almost all the mission rewards could be bought with only a few exceptions, now it is the opposite, only a very few can be bought or mined or otherwise gained, most can only be gained by mission reward or very hard work or mined... some you need for unlocking guardian modules, and a couple like the modular terminals and biotech conductors are mission reward only...and as one person mentioned MT's can be found at certain mega ship wrecks, also for many a material trader can help, but not in this case.

How can I find Mega Ship Wrecks then?

I have paid attention to mission rewards since I started and after 814+ completed Missions, I have no recollection of seeing Modular Terminals offered as any mission reward.

I won't shy from a challenge.

Have a look at passenger missions.

Attacked Station evac missions - lots of missions, lots of MT. Many of those systems also have attacked megaships, if you feel you want to do some looting. Though the PAX missions are less RNG.

currently looking at 1 mission to take data somewhere for 38 MT's, and another for passengers for 35 MT's.....they are there you just need to keep looking.
if you visit 2 different stations in 2 different system and do not see any at all I would be very surprised

Filter your missions by commodities. I was one trying to filter by materials and couldn't find any MTs anyhwere lol

Possibly not coincidentally, the big station IN Sirius (I forget what it's called) is usually a good source of missions that hand out MT's like Smarties. ;)

I left Qwent Research Base and I'm currently docked at Patterson Enterprise. I'm still in system, LOL.

They always used to offer heaps of short-haul passenger missions that paid in MTs.

I avoid all the passenger missions, except in the case of Evac. The people make far to many demands and whine to much for my tastes.

It's easier to ignore the evacuated refugees and just fly.

I'm looking through the passenger missions at Patterson right now and I did find one mission offering 20 Modular Terminals. I can't take the mission yet because I need to up my reputation with them first. So, I'm locked out for the moment. Unlocking the missions is the easy part.

Finding them again after unlocking will be the trick.

I can't tell you how many missions I wanted to take vanished on me when I needed to change ships.

only the ones where you take single passengers whine. You'll be fine with any of the bulk passenger missions. They're just like carrying cargo, except you get modular terminals as a reward when you select the right missions.

Engineers can be confusing and frustrating. there are loads of Youtube videos that help you to find all the things you need, otherwise ask here, unless you like solving difficult puzzles.

fwiw if you take the passengers to their destination without any delay, ignoring their demands has no consequences..I do it all the time often with multiple missions and have never yet lost any pay or reward over it. sometimes that is how I decide their delivery order, I deliver the ones asking for stuff first.
If you take too long to deliver them to where they want to go is when the consequences will begin, just because you have 2 hours or 18 hours to complete the mission, it is never a good idea to wait.
And I have done thousands of sightseeing and bulk passenger missions, I tend to do easily 10 a day or more if my BGS needs...there have been days where I have done over 100 passenger missions and still no issues with their petty demands.

This.

As a means of obtaining mat's (or other stuff), I find the simplest solution is to bung a single passenger cabin in something like an AspX and then ferry one group of passengers around 2 or 3 tourist beacons.
They only make demands avery few minutes so you can have completed the tour and be dumping them back at their home port before they've asked for more than 1 or 2 things.
