I'm Officially Leaving Elite: Dangerous. (Not Mad or Upset)

Seriously guys?

I'm all for "who cares?" and "can I has your stuff?" posts for rage quits where OP just wants to dump biowaste all over the game one last time.

But here OP simply stated his feelings and shared them because Elite means/meant a lot to him and he realized it doesn't work out for him anymore.

Do the replies really have to be that hostile?
It's sort of easier/a meme to just react to something with a response learned from someone else, rather than to see the thing for what it is and giving a response of your own based on your own feelings. I've accepted that when I posted this, and am not upset.

Also, thank you for understanding. :D

I don't understand. All the "fun stuff" is in the bubble - which takes maybe 4 jumps to cross. So the travel is optional. Even more so if you stay in the same system.

Anyway - bye I guess🤷‍♀️
??? What?

Optional means choice.

The player HAS to Hyperspace Jump and SC in order to travel. Therefore, you are forced to travel. Doesn't matter the distance, what matters is the fact I HAVE to travel ALL distances no matter how big or how small.
You know?

Hyperspace jump : 1 minute. Short SC : 1 minute. Everything else is optional. Even fps games don't allow instantaneous movement. Anyway, bye again.

Funny, the space travel is what I like. Space travel has been what Elite is about since 84. The forced engineering is what drove me away.

Edit : I agree there is plenty of scope to improve the experience though.

Im shocked that you can be so disappointed and decide to upsticks and leave.. Elite is whatever you decide you want it to be. if you want it to be boring it can be.. if you want it to be a challenge it can be.. if you want it to be fun it can be.. I don't believe in the forced gameplay style.. I do believe that the universe is incredibly big and that if you want to get from A-B and A-B is a long way, its going to take a long time.. if you don't like that part then that is your perogative and maybe another type of game would be better for you. good luck o7
I understand what you're coming from. Elite to you, is about Perception. So to you, there's no way the game could be bad as you perceive it to be a good game. I get that, and your perception is not wrong.

Unfortunately, for me, my perception of the game is as this: Elite is everything I like, but has one thing I don't anymore that I'm forced to endure.
And, yes, I'm trying new games, it's kinda how I got to this perception of Elite in the first place. Fallout 76 has fast travel and I love that. Wished more Multiplayer games had it.

I see your point but nothing takes a minute to get to in this game when you have an objective. But if I'm wrong, I'd like to see some proof and I'll retract this statement and say that you're right.

But to elaborate on what I'm saying:
What about planets 100,000ls from the drop in star?
or the Guardian Sites?
or the Thargoid Bases?
or the station that has the Module you're looking for?
or any megaships?
it's going to take time to get there and I wish it didn't as I want to explore those locations. As I said: Forced Travel is not a problem the game has, Forced Travel a problem I have with the game.

Hmm, I think you're onto plumbs with this one mate. ED ain't a whizz around game. I reckon that if you could majic jump everywhere you'd get bored with everything very quickly.

Its the exact same post as ragequitters that get the "who cares?" and "can I haz your stuffs" responses? Its a bitter and "feelzfull" post.

OP should try blogging for this kind of posts...
How do I come off as bitter? I didn't use any negative tones in my post.
Mad? How did I give off the ragequitty vibe when I list my complaint and give reasons for my complaints in a clear manner? I didn't even disrespect FDev or the fanbase, I've seen others do.

I'm confused... I can only conclude you didn't read my post or just read the title then assumed, then reacted...

I say if you didn't read, give it a read.

...Unless my Sarcasm Meter is broken... in that case, disregard everything I said...

Which vets? Those who still enjoy the game or those who claim they didn't enjoy a single hour due to bad game design but still played it for 3000 hours? :D

Well I've way more than 3000hrs and I can honestly say I enjoyed many if not most, of them. The game is badly designed. It could have been so much more than a 1984 rewrite with amazing graphics, but here we are.

In relation to the point, the poster said he'd been playing 2 months, which in my view is scrub level.

This is one of those "Perceptions is more important than Reality" things isn't it?
One of my professors used to say: "When there's fire in the heart, there's smoke in the head."
In order to rationally understand things, beliefs, assumptions and emotions should be "turned off". That's the reason why people count to 10.

@TrailBlazer 143 - glad you had fun, but I do find it strange that your reason for leaving a game based on flying spaceships in the biggest galaxy simulation ever, is that you didn't like having to fly spaceships to get places within that galaxy?
Oh, no, it's not the flying at all, I love the flying.

It's just the fact that I couldn't just do the amazing things the game offered without having the long and uneventful "Jump, Charge, Jump" loop to get there.
I want to fly around the Guardian Bases, but the time it would take to get there would be too great for me. Especially if I have an itch to blow something up right afterward. I would have to do the long and uneventful "Jump Charge Jump" back to my home station just to do it.

That's my issue. Not an issue the game has, mind you, just a problem I have with the game.

I know space is big, I just fell tired of being reminded over and over when I wanted to travel to a fun location or do fun things.

Seems to be getting a lot done instead of just whining about how terrible the game is! If I was going to employ someone in my business would it be:
A. This young go-getter, or
B. Some whiney, burned-out vet?
😀

In your case, you'd pick A. Wrongly.

A would promise sun moon and stars, tell you about all the problems, and deliver little.
B on the other hand, while being a moany old git, would offer real answers and offer feasible solutions based on years of experience.

You were saying?

That guy is always unpleasant and rude to other posters. Not sure why he has not been asked to leave, permanently.......

You employ many people? I do.

Read my signature.

No dramatic goodbye thread from me this time, now that I've literally uninstalled. Just a footnote explaining that I no longer play, and where I can now be found.

With that said, OP, I hope you find a fun game elsewhere. It is possible to move on from ED, as TES has shown me, and I'm now expanding into other fantasy RPGs, and CCGs as something entirely new.
Heck yeah, man! LOVE TES! I'm playing the Fallout games currently, which is where I figured out that Fast Travel is the best thing to happen to adventure games and why I won't be looking back to Elite.

Hope TES fills you up with as much excitement and fun as me. Freaking LOVE TES. You should give Fallout 3/New Vegas a try. or Fallout 4 if you're a little more casual. or even Fallout 76 if you don't want a story and just want an open world to build and survive in. They are all a blast! (76 is bringing a single player story near the end of the year just FYI)

The game has lots of unfulfilled potential. That doesn't make it bad though.

Since his view is shared by lots of vets, going by your standards it doesn't become less valid.
