The bugs.

In all fairness, there was plenty of moaning at their forum. I was a member and remember it was like a war going on in there.
But then came the mods, and things calmed down. Some bugs still remain though.
Good to hear it's not just our lot that can be a bit whingy! I've never been on a game forum before and I must say that there is a heckuva lotta negativity. Must be a gaming thing, not enough fresh air and exercise?

I play on PS4 occasionally (both a normal and a Pro) and apart from a couple of hard locks ages ago, it all seems ok to me (as in, it doesn't seem to be worse than the PC).
So the 1X version is bugless, but the ps4 and pc versions are a bit buggy. Or a lot buggy depending on which posts I read. Interesting.....

I think you're missing the point. Little glitches, yes. ED has game breaking and materially gameplay inhibiting issues. I'm happy to allow little things slide but not leaving core gameplay that literally crashes the game to be unfixed for months....and years after this gameplay was introduced.
Not seeing these issues on the 1X. Which is nice for me, sux for the non-1X owners. Sorry guys 🤷‍♂️

The funny thing is that the Elder Scrolls games are also buggy as all hell, but the fans don't give a biowaste. Elder Scrolls fans just accept that bugs are inevitable in a game where you can be pretty much anyone you want to be, and do almost anything you want too. Some ED players however..... 😭
Exactly. A game this big and complex is going to have bugs. I haven't even noticed any big bugs, and small bugs haven't been big enough of a deal to change anything.

Infact this game has only given me a blue screen ONE time :)

So as a PS4 user, is the answer is to buy the next version of the Xbox when it comes out? Crashes and lock ups are definitely a thing on PS4 and much worse in ED than any other game (last one for me was in combat with an NPC Vulture). Based on what the Xbox users are saying, I'm wondering if this just means the Sony machine can't handle it.

Edit-oops no, PS4 is fine. I'd not considered the possibility of a game not being ported in such a way as to make use of the hardware.

I invested over a year of absolutely bliss playing Skyrim on my PS3. I bought it after the framerate bug was fixed, and the only two bugs I remember are mammoths occasionally falling out of the sky and companions standing in doorways (solved by sprinting past them). Most games release with bugs and get better over time. Elite Dangerous released on PS4 as a good-looking, stable game, but it has since become more and more buggy, not less. It definitely is buggier than Skyrim (or any other game I own) on either my PS3 or PS4.

But I'm not trying to convince you lot - you've already drunk the LSD-laced kool-aid. I'm just sticking up for the rest of us (like the OP) who suffer from the bugs you deny and / or make excuses for.
OP is also playing on a PS4. So it looks like you're right about the PS4 port. Also explains why I ain't got no bugs. Mystery solved. Duck and OP: join the dark side!

Nah, Duck says it's the PS4 port, not the hardware, and his reasoning is sound.

And I assume others are also seeing this? (I'm not implying it's not a bug, it's just that this is the first I've heard of it)

Yep. There's a ticket with a number of players complaining of the issue. I didn't raise my own issue, i piggybacked on that one.

Apologies to Old Duck then, after rereading his post I've obviously skimmed through that bit first time round.

Either way though, whether it's the port or the machine that's at fault, it's something to think about. Whether Sony should be bothered about a shoddy port pushing a small number of players towards buying an Xbox is up to them I suppose.

EVERYBODY was suffering BSOD on PS4 from the SRV bug last year, so it ain't the hardware (especially when I'm playing games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn with amazing graphics and zero crashes).
Sorry, I was referring to Windows computers.

I recon i hve had the BSOD 15 times, at least, whilst fighting interceptors, since roughly the middle of May. PS get about as much love as a case of the crabs, imo.

How is a 5 year old game in such a mess? Thargoid stuff is a state now as well. Seriously, why are the devs finding it so hard just to fulfil basic maintenance on a game that's had YEARS to become stable.

I am stumped by the neglect Fdev demonstrates regarding bug fixing.
I've said it before in another thread that in my time as gamer since the late seventies I have rarely seen a game with such poor support on bugs.
The beyond series was meant to upgrade the core gameplay, imho bugfixing is a huge part of that, instead, many new bugs were presented and old ones re-appeared, only a few of them were addressed.
Also the frequency of patches is abysmal, only when there's a content update a bit higher number of bugs are being addressed and one or two small patches afterwards.

Imho to keep the quality of a game high you need to be on top of bug fixing.
I'm not sure but even the landing gear of the Mamba hasn't been fixed yet, right?

The way I see it is that almost everything gets only so much attention, content and features are only partially developed and bugs only get so much fixing.
Then Fdev thinks it's good to introduce something new again and the whole cycle starts all over again.
