I think the earlier reports of people just getting ganked is less fun (though - it's a CG, people should know how that happens by now )

The tiers seem to have been set bizarrely high on this one - Tier 1 = tiny, to make sure it passes. Tier 2 = record-breaking performance. Tier 8 = the entire active Elite Dangerous player base hands in about 100 scans each. Not quite sure what they were thinking there...

Yep, but I just wanted to dump the data I've been holding for a while so I'll take any bonus.

I sold about 100 systems worth of data to the exploration data trader at The Oracle station but the CG goal didn't update to show that I've made a contribution (I made sure I signed up to participate).

Any idea why this is? Do I need a certain # of system data for it to register?

Did you sign up for the CG before selling...

If you did: did you check status on the Transaction tab or the Mission page - the mission page tends to be up-to-date - transaction tab can lag.

Interesting - I've never had the mission board not update immediately (transaction tab, not so much )

well, since i check the mission board only 2 times, i got used with the laggy transaction time for CG

And when i think that only 6 days ago i stupidly lost a ship and scan data for like 150 systems

So math time.
The quickest ive been able to jump is about 11 jumps per 10 mins or 66 per hour... When focused on task...
so that would be 330 in ~5 hours play time or ~660 systems in 10 hours play time on this CG...

So you're saying we should expect a lot of complaints next Thursday from all those CMDRs reappearing having not realised that CGs end of Wednesday now I can believe that

In addition to the ones that get the local versus game time thing wrong.

Hopefully not going to last minute it myself because if many do that there could be all kinds of heavy traffic issues.

We don’t actually know as the next phase of the II has not been announced yet, but in the absence of that what Factabulous said is probably right and now we’ve hit tier one the next phase will simply be based on “success” rather than “failure” for this CG.

What really creeps me out is the distance between Tier 1 and Tier 2. And i dont have the guts to look upper than that.

Seems the Intern that patched together the numbers for the tiers confused an Exploration CG with a Haulage CG xD
Best of luck getting an additional 10000 Explorers to hand in 2000 Systems each just to reach the next tier.

Looking at the highest Tier, I'm confident there aren't even enough Explorers in the entire Game, making it a physical impossibility to reach even in point-blank theory.

The numbers are always screwy... sometimes i wonder if the person who has to set those numbers has a working knowledge of the game mechanics, or if it gets set by an unrelated area... seems more the latter since this happens all too often.

well they're looking for new barnacles.
maybe that's the real catalyst for the tier system? ie they don't care about your trip to colonia or your DW data?

has anyone been looking? ...would have been nice for some tips from input... one guy said nothing at California ... I checked the Taurus dark region (despite thargoid presence in most to almost all systems) ... which region would the thargoid likely expand into? ..and of course one should expect thargoid presence itself ..?
