theory on FDev"s "new unnamed property"

Since Tencent is one of the producers of the Top Gun reboot amd FDev already has experience with games that have flying and dogfighting.....

whadaya think?

Assuming this thread isn't meant to be in the off topic section...

Landing my ships on floating stations on water worlds and gas giants would be kind of sweet. :)

Might also be nice to take my Dolphin for a swim, let it stretch its fins as it were.

What did the All-Knowing-Ever-Correct-Don't-You-Dare-Doubt-Or-Say-It-Isn't Roadmap Leak Truth Document have to say?
"Jurassic World Evolution 2"

Meanwhile, the film Jurassic World 3 Extinction coincidentally releases in 2021 - the same year as "new unnamed property" game is slated for.

it said "unnamed future property for 2020" or something to that effect.
Nah - see above.

Hopefully it will be the Expanse
they do have the tech and the know-how

Except park management sims are their bread and butter.

I mean if you look at Frontier's selected release history on their website, Elite Dangerous is very much the odd one out.

Bit strange that they're not highlighting their earlier work, but it's very clear the image Frontier is giving off - "if you want park management games, we're the ones to call".

Indeed, but i dont think JW3 qualifies as a new IP License. So it has to be a different franchise
SInce i read that the authors of The Expanse pretty much started that universe as a game, i dream someone will take over actually making it a game.

Its not Top Gun, at least I think it would not make much business sense - there is DCS to fulfill simulator crowd, and there is Ace Cobat to fulfill flying gamers crowd.

Would love a game set in this universe. Dunno if theres any studio that could do it justice though.

It's a game where Maverick has to set up a new air force base to train new pilots. You have to manage recruitment, training, exercises, tower fly-bys, singing popular love songs in local bars, riding motorcycles .... it'll incorporate base building, which will be used in Elite Dangerous and park management as seen in Jurassic World Evolution

(only joking)

May be, Top Gun 2 has to be one of the easiest hollywood films to turn into a game out there. I have no doubt Frontier could do a brilliant job making that game, it would also be a great game to really build out their terrain and city and atmospheric, generation technology

I suspect it not just JWE 2 because that would be disappointing and I doubt they would have to relicense that ip for a sequel, especially as Jurassic World has had multiple films plan from the beginning and Frontier whole business plan is on going developments of exist games over a long period of time. Frontier would have been better off saying they renew/extended their license with Universal Studio.

My bet was and is still on a Ghostbusters game mainly because we seen it appearance in Planet Coaster, just like we first sure Universal Studios properties appear in that game before Jurassic park evolution was announce. An it a major ip. An not much has been done with the property. The only flaw is that development is said to take two years.

Plus I don't see why they would create a whole new game just for Jurassic World Part 3, instead of just incorporating the new dinos and buildings in to JWE.

Jurassic Park survival game will be a what if story about dinosaurs escaping their various zoos and labs into the world, I expect it will build of the premise that illegal and legal labs all over the world started to produce their own dinosaurs after JW2 and genetically engineered creatures take over a certain area of the globe.

JP have been teasing that story for years but never shown on in on screen and apparently JW3 isn't about that.

Reading the announcement, undermine much of the above.

https://www.sharesmagazine.co.uk/ne...lopments-got-another-monster-hit-on-its-hands

we are delighted to confirm that one of our future releases will benefit from a major global IP licence.
To me this suggests that Frontier was already planning to make the game and the IP just give them an advantage of this new game standing out more. Combine that with info about PC2 in the works, suggest may be it a branded theme park game base on a ip, may be something like Wonder Park or maybe the licensing deal with Disney has been completed.

Frontier Developments to develop and publish the game, together with subsequent associated paid downloadable content, worldwide on both PC and console formats, and that development should begin later in calendar 2019.
This also suggests that development will being once another project is completed. The project that is nearly completed is Planet Zoo and it make sense to keep this team largely intact to work on their next management sim.
cambridge-based Frontier, whose investment attractions Shareshighlighted in our Under The Bonnet section here, expects a two year development cycle for this unnamed future game

The above suggest the game doesn't require frontier to build any new technology or engage in a overhaul of the Cobra engine and will be using their existing stack of technologies.
