A year is enough. To be honest I remember when the console wars were happening, new maps for COD a month before the xbox version for ps users. It’s a digital object. Knowing about the release of Horizons before the cut off date is not an achievement or service that justifies refusal to replicate this digital object for those who found out about the game later.
As far as rewards go, for what little was actually done to earn said reward, a few years of exclusivity is more than sufficient as far as I’m concerned. Frontier’s view is a different matter.
I wonder if they're the sort of people who go down to their local military base and demand that medals be made available to them.People always point out how ridiculous it is that those who have access to it want it to stay exclusive. But to play devil's advocate, why do people who don't have access to it absolutely NEED to be able to buy this less than mediocre ship?![]()
But how do I know that? I love the ocra, for example, but I could list a bunch of ships that do particular things betterPeople always point out how ridiculous it is that those who have access to it want it to stay exclusive. If you were of the right age during WW2, you'd have had ample opportunities... I believe the US gives out purple hearts for well, very little... so yes, it is pretty much a case of being there at the right (or perhaps wrong) time.If medals were given out to soldiers who made their beds in the morning, then yes, as that’s pretty much the level of services rendered by the Horizons early adopters to gain their MKIV medal.
Does anyone need to justify the aspects of the game they enjoy, or would enjoy if able to?
Very few people would take issue in comparison to how many players would be pleased with access to a ship they weren’t able to acquire before. That should be enough for any developer to approve a change request from their customers - particularly one that requires virtually no effort to implement.
I promise to pinch the purse of every kindly old lady I come across.
Should I keep my promise or break it?
Vote now. The fate of elderly women is in your hands!
He's a dog, you know.
Until Frontier formally respond, I can't see any reason the Cobra MkIV can't be made available to all commanders apart from the commitment that it was an exclusive pre-order bonus on PC and Xbox for ordering Horizons.
PS4 never had the offer.
see here
Artificially filtering the shipyard lists (you can purchase the Cobra MkIV, you can't purchase one) is introducing an unnecessary level of coding complexity.
As has already been said on this thread, it is also limiting any revenue that Frontier can make as the percentage of the user base with a Cobra MkIV is incredibly small. see here
For a ship that was an exclusive for the rollout of the Horizons update, now that we are at the end of the Beyond update, I think that it should be made available for all.
It would be a lovely gesture by Frontier to make it available to all in the September update.
I wonder if those financial analysts could come onto this thread and explain how potential litigation from a 'couple' of Horizon Pre-order commanders and the cost of unpicking the code constraint would out-weigh the store revenue of ship kits and paint jobs for the Cobra MkIV.I suspect their financial analysts, with actual degrees in financial analysis have long since determined this to fall well within the realm of acceptable losses.
Let's see...
FDev have two options.
a - They keep the Cobra Mk IV as an exclusive... -- Result: A few people on the forum keep making threads about it.
b - They make the Cobra Mk IV available to everyone... -- Result: Nobody ever trusts them again.
Personally I think it's a no brainer. And they can always ban the people whining about it...
Because you, a single person, represent everyone? Even if it's only one person who loses trust in them, then it's a net loss.I wouldn’t trust then any more or less than I already do. Argument b invalid.
