Okay then, how about making it available to players who pledge to charity for a week? The Cobra IV retains it's exclusivity, players who want to try it can try it, and the kiddies get money. Everyone's a winner.
So why a really, really convoluted way around a simple idea? You pledge to Special Effect to a certain amount on the day, you get the CM4. It could be to keep the exclusivity you make this version blue rather than red for example.
You're really not getting the 'exclusive' concept, are you?
Its been a number of years, and as an exclusive its kind of outlived its usefulness in that role.
But, the forum ultras can have the red version, and the proles the blue one to keep the peace.

If you want to raise money for good causes, ask Frontier to pay $1 for every post on this forum asking for the SCSMS4 (Stupid Cobra Stupid Mk Stupid 4). It’ll raise tons more than selling the exclusive ship that is no longer exclusive.
I think using sick children to coerce you’re own agenda is a little monstrous.
I like the acronym there, almost as good as BDSSE (best damn space sim ever), which gets applied to various things depending on what forum one is in.
And what is my own agenda? I already own one, and thought it would be a great way to raise money for a worthy cause and make a lot of new players happy at the same time. I did not bank on the selfishness and hostility of some here.
BTW, I think there were a reported 26 people at the first ever Sex Pistols gig. I demand they reform so that I too can enjoy the exclusivity of being one of the first to see them.

If I knew it would raise a decent amount of money I'd ask FD to auction my access to it, since my only CM4 sits in a hangar unused under a ton of dust. But, I figured by the amount of posts asking for the CM4 it would raise more if it was opened up for a day or so.
Solve the ship exclusivity problem by making anyone who has a argument against it seem like a heartless monster.

I know about the CM4 and the early backers, the LEP etc. I am also an early backer, a LEP owner and I have 4 or 5 CM4's for module storage.

That's a matter of opinion.
The 'usefulness' of continuing the exclusivity is that it shows FDev don't go back on their word just because a bunch of people whinge about something.
It’s a contentious issue that can’t be solved by tagging on charity.
