What’s so bad about ARX?

I can see that. Just not sure what kind of relationship to expect, other than they make a luxury product and I may or may not be in a position or mind to buy it.

Its the whole 'we are a community' bit that bothers me I guess. The PLAYERS are a community - FDev seems to want to be a company sucking up as much money as they can from that community.

50/50? (They rely on players for income, players rely on devs for there to be any game at all).

I agree it can seem a bit of a touchy feely word but I always got the impression FDev genuinely value the importance of their supporters, call them what you want. Analogy I would use is a band who love their fans ... of course they do! I don't think you can easily manufacture a community as it were without it seeming forced, artificial and ultimately hollow but if you rely on those people, banded together and calling themselves Cmdrs already, you'd be daft not to reach out to it when it's there.

Have to remember in context I think, you don't NEED cosmetics, they don't affect the game. For me it cuts FD a lot of slack in how they go about selling them. I'm with GreyArea on this though, I do think they are sailing quite close to the wind on the 'it's a game buy stuff' versus game immersion front. (Yellow card but not a red one for me).

.

This entire conversation (and the many others going here and on Reddit) indicate it is not the same product as release day. And I like cosmetics. Think they are great. Wish I could buy them honestly and without the current system.

Of course this isn't the same product as it was when released, what an asinine statement.

Hmm lets see, we now have:
  • More ships
  • More weapons
  • More modules
  • Holo-Me
  • Ability to land on planets
  • New mining mechanisms
  • New exploration mechanisms
  • Thargoids
  • Asteroid bases
I could go one for way longer than anyone would want me to, but you can't complain about the current game not being what it was when released for one aspect and ignore everything else that has been included since launch.

My philosophy is a bit more complicated then that. I am a positive person, but if you don't think about the decisions people make, and challenge decisions you disagree with, you deserve everything you get. :)

There's no deciscion to challenge, none of this constitutes actual change.

I think people should know what they are buying.

I can get upset for you for a small fee of 1 ARX per post

I just got a one ARX bonus for scanning a beacon whilst looking for a pirate, you should up your bid.

you'll never manage to please all the people. I personally thing Arx are great. On console we've had frontier points since the year dod so the biggest change is that we can purchase them individually now (aya) and also we can earn them for free. 2 weeks of just playing the game (one and a half really) seems about a good level to get a free paint pack (to me)

OK fair enough, you whiteknighting is your own personal opinion then and not motivated by a loyalty to Frontier. That much I can respect.
As for "dare you to say that to whoever" .... I'll say what I like to who I like (or don't like) when I like. I'd say the same thing to Rootsrat or TJ or Brett or David Braben. The worst Frontier can do is ban me from the forum, and to be honest I would not care. That's been my attitude for many years now.
As for it being uncalled for, this is a text medium and intention can be hard to read. I accept some fault in how I worded it, but if you interpreted it different to how I intended, that's on you, not me. It's no different to people like yourself just trying to calm things down and me accusing you of whiteknighting, that's all down to how I interpreted it.

Yes this whole topic makes me angry, but in your time as a mod you've seen me lose my temper on here, so I'd hope you above most on here would realise how bad I can be compared to how I am at this moment. That does not excuse anything I have done, btw.

I meant no offence, but if that's how it came across, I apologise.

Its not whitekingting. Its giving my own opinion on a topic which is different to your own. It would be really great if you could debate something without getting personal just because someone disagrees with you.

And my point was I wasn't getting personal, you're just taking it that way .... and I did apologise .... and I have no issue with different opinions to mine, for example, I have liked Stigbob's posts in this thread even though he disagrees with me.

Maybe .... just maybe .... it's not how you think it is?

BUT ... this is now off topic to the thread, so by all means I invite you to reply and have the last word.

I appreciate that you may have great impulse control. Not everyone does (and I'm not talking for myself). The bottom line is that Frontier will make more money now based on this new system - which exploits human behavior for profit.. Its an ethnically questionable choice. I thought that they respected their player base more.
What has someones birth, origin or cultural background got to do with it.

I am assuming you mean ethically. If you think it is unethical for companies to try to get you to spend money on their products, then good luck with life as it is there everywhere. Every town centre, nearly every website, email, social media the list goes on.

It's not about ethics, what they are doing is fine, it is ethically fine. But if people have issues with self control, then they need to get some help. That is not FDevs fault if someone can't control themselves.

Freebies from FDEV, I must have been a good boy.
For players like yourself who don't spend money on the store it's a positive, I can see that.

For players like myself who don't didn't mind to spend money on items they wanted, not so much as the price hikes of individual items is way higher than the bone FDev is throwing us in the form of the weekly Arx amount. Which amounts to less than 0.30 Euros per week, or 1.20 Euros per month. It's more than nothing, but it may as well be nothing as far as I'm concerned.

And if you're willing to wait for several months to unlock a single item from the store, again good for you, but others might not even be playing at that stage so they got basically nothing in the end.

The weekly Arx 'gift' is a marketing gimmick, nothing else. I would prefer the old version of the store (on PC at least) where I could just buy what I wanted, at the clearly advertised price.

No worries. Just avoid terms like that in the future and we will be fine.

The 400 ARX a week is green lasers for me toward the end of the year, without any grind or expense required. Then something else a few months later so its nothing drastic.

People who want to buy now will buy now anyway, this changes nothing.

However if they set it too high nobody buys cosmetics which is self defeating.

It's also already 50% of the GNI per capita of Somalia which is an utterly mind boggling example of a first world problem o_O.
