What to do about Griefers

But I was trying to run away!

Don't run. If you don't break the speed limit he likely won't do that much damage to you. If he is in a weak ship, he's likely to blow himself up before he blows you up.

They rely on you panicking and increasing your speed. Don't fall for it.

As for jump range, lol. Just fly any station with a shipyard and call in one of your other ships. Or buy a stock hauler or something. If you can't reach a station with a startport, double LOL. In that case, erm... raise a ticket asking them to move you to a station with a shipyard with FD and don't try that sort of experiment again, at least not in open.

This is exactly the reason I play on solo exclusively. In any online game, if it's unmoderated then it's where the scumbags tend to hang out.
'scumbags' - Nice

I believe piracy and powerplay, anarchy systems, guns and blazing your own trail where any player you encounter could become 'a trusted ally or your deadliest enemy' is intended gameplay.

The best way to deal with station-rammers (if you want to stay in Open) is to use the Block function. don't ARXing speed!!!
FTFY. Don't speed criminal scum.
It works. When I used to play in open I'd take a cheap "disposable" ship out to all the usual haunts (CGs, Shinrata, Deciat and the other engineers) and fly around and let the griefers kill me, adding each one to my block list. This would "clear the road" for me in my bigger, more expensive ships. My block list was huge and my flights relatively safe... though it is not perfect, new griefers will pop up all the time.

Or fly in solo, you really aren't missing much in open, is the occasional "o7" from a passing commander really worth it?
Wow. I'm always amazed by the audacity of people flying in open - with everyone who could harm them blocked. Why oh why do you fly in open at all?
Ah. That'll be the problem then.
Yep. Single most visited system in the game. Just go there in a open fit build or don't go there in open. Simple as that.

There are few reasons to visit Shinrarta anymore unless you're looking for PvP, either organic or arranged.

Meeting other CMDRs? Get on forums and Discords and go find your own fun! Working the BGS? It's locked and not associated with any player groups. Powerplay? Nope.

The only couple things I see going for it is the convenience of having all the ships and modules available. That just makes you a softy! 15% discount? You got Elite rank in something in the age of easy credits.

I mean... maybe if you're really tickled by the idea of being Elite in something, but hey, you see where vanity gets you.

It's not even 15% discount, that was Li yong Rui. Shin is 10% iirc (wasn't there for a long time)

Block the griefer.

Log into the game open up the comms panel and go the tab with the clockface, that's people you met in game in reverse chronological order.

Select the ramming griefer and block him. He no longer exists in your game, problem solved.

There's a link in my sig all about block, and how the devs advise you to use it on griefers as was always intended. Its slightly outdated in that you can now search for and block other players from the social tab at the main menu. Just search their name send a friend request and then you can block them from the drop down menu.

Still, Shinrarta could be the most beautiful peaceful place where humanity could show all the magnificence of the human species we can't seem to figure out irl, was it not for those wonderful hardpoints making most peoples trigger finger itchy. At least that was my hopelessly naive thought when I started playing the game. Still, I like Jameson in open more and more, so perhaps I have just been irreparably corrupted by you and your likeminded ;)

Just a thought: I'd see station ramming where he panicked you into increasing speed as an unintended use of a game mechanic. In other words, an exploit. If OP submits a ticket to FD I expect they will refund his rebuy credits.

You can block anyone, just like with Facebook. Big hint about the suicide squad is, they're roleplaying in the wrong game. Do a first pass and block all those crimelords cosplaying as the Joker. Elite is not a Batman game. Period. Then do the same with Gene Simons fans, glamrock is dead. After that you're pretty much all good. I'll keep on blocking with any guy wanting you in his squadron, spamming suki suki inchat. You dont need Internet generals, you're a free pilot.

Once all of that is done, you pretty much get a space game.
