Worried about the lack of Australian animals

Over 50 animals have been announced yet none are endemic to Australia. The game claims to have animals from all over the world, however I'm concerned there won't be any Oceanian representation.

Saltwater croc doesn't count (I know he isn't really an Australian endemit but still)?

I'm sure they're coming in a $20 DLC very soon

I'm betting on Kangaroo (expecting Red, but would prefer different big species) and one of Tasmanian devil/Koala/Emu being in the base game and then they will announce the Australian pack for all of us zoo nerds, with species like Echidna, Platypus, Cassowary, some wallaby species (Yellow-footed, Swamp, Agile, just hopefully not red-necked :D ), some reptiles for terrariums,...

I think it is quite likely that the dingo could appear in the game, since it has the status of vulnerable in the conservation status, due to the hybridization´s problem.

Together with the dingo I suppose they will be: the Red Kangaroo, the Koala, the Tasmanian Devil, and the Platypus?

Sparrows? Those little birds that congregate in town squares?

Yes, those yes. ;)

With all seriousness though, some animals that dwell in countries surrounding the North Sea would be nice as well.

Like Godwits, Spoonbills, Badgers, etc.

What I more meant was there are so many animals, that the chance of them missing is quite high. So yeah, they claim to have animals from all around the world, but you need a lot of salt with that, as it's a statement that is hard to reach at this point in time with this game.

But Kangaroos for instance would be nice to have, as well as several other animals from the Oceania continent would be great additions!

With all due respect, I don't really see the benefit of adding local city slickers to a zoo...

Before anyone gets me wrong, I know animals live in very different regions around the world, and common animals is relative. You may have ravens in your country while I don't, but I occasionally see bats and civets roaming about in my neighborhood, while you only see them in zoos. The way I see it, zoos are places for people to see unique animals from local and international regions. I don't think anyone would wanna go to a zoo only to see critters that pops up every now and then in their place, i.e. feral cats and sparrows.

I hope my post is clear...

I'm not too worried. I think it's important to remember there is still a lot to come and I am quietly confident we will see some Aussie animals sooner or later. Some foliage would be great too, like some eucalypts.

Personally I'd love to see a tree kangaroo, cassowary, emu, black swan, cape barren goose, common wombat, some wallaby species and Tasmanian devil... as well as the obvious kangaroo and koala.

I haven't played the beta as I am about to go away and will wait for the launch in November but one thing I think I saw in game is a metal fence which looks a lot like colorbond steel fencing, something which will be very useful for building authentic looking Australian zoos.

perfectly clear. (y) The sparrow comment was a little joke on the side.

But our local zoo (Blijdorp) also has sections with some more local but still widely common Europa animals. So Godwitts and Spoonbills sound reasonable as well.

I think it's a little strange that we didn't get a kangaroo as one of the "first" animals as they're fairly common in zoos (at least here in the US). But I agree with everyone who has posted already.

I would imagine there's some sort of "Aussie" pack coming down the line. If there is, I really hope they include: Red kangaroos, some variety of wallaby, koalas, platypus, tasmanian devil, a cockatoo or kookaburra, and at least a few reptiles.

Not just that but those 10+ who are leaked to be in the game from beta data files are not from Australia, not single of them if you exclude terrarium which got a couple of ones from that part of the World.

Kangaroos would be amazing! I wonder if it's be hard to program the babies to stay in the pouch for a while.
I highly doubt that. I can imagine it just changes the mother's pouch to be open on the model (or just bulged depending on the position and size of the baby), and anchors the baby to the mother while she moves around. But whether Frontier decides to do that is a different topic.
I think that the beta we have been given is mostly just a skeleton and that Frontier is capable of so much more, which will be revealed on launch. But we'll see though. I don't want to get too hyped up to then be disappointed or left wishing for more.

I seriously doubt the DLC's will be $20 dollars though. I'm thinking more like $10. Frontier seems to have decent dlc prices. I can think of one particular company that have worse prices for dlc's. (Has only two letters to its name)
