What do you want from space legs?

You mean controls like keyboard and mouse? No way I'll be using them to control my commander.

Most people can't touch type and find their proper keys, and although I can, it'll be very cumbersome since I have to lean forward to reach my keyboard and mouse.
No, I ment VR specific controllers. Something like this:

switching controllers “blind” is going to be a hassle. NMS tries to incorporate these and it’s one of the few things they got wrong in VR. Fortunately in NMS flying space ships isn’t a huge or important part of the game. Maybe that’ll become true in Elite as well.

What everyone doesn't want, to just go and use the coffee machine.

For frontier not to end up in the too hard bucket and all we get is another option on the station services menu that kicks off an instance into an fps map with thargoids that somehow plays like transporting cargo.

For frontier to give up on the idealistic crusade of zero g / no gravity in ships. In anything but eva this is has the potential to be crap.

The clipper to be changed to medium so i can justify the ship kit.

I personally would be fine with the cockpit and one or more adjoining rooms for cosmetics. Everything else will probably be heavy handedly forced into some image of gameplay and turn out like all the other systems, so i dont have expectations there.

EDIT: Actually, my first stupid want for space legs was basically the camping mods available for skyrim in elites setting. Still want that. Get out of your ship, pitch a tent and log out. Sounds great.

Space legs I want. FPS not so much.

I want to see the rest of the inside of my ship. I want to walk in to the station a look out of those windows overlooking my parked ship. I want to get out of my srv and wander around on the surface.

I also want some interesting gameplay associated with the above. Meeting up with someone in a bar to get a smuggling mission. Going in to an abandoned surface base to recover data. Searching for rare materials in SRV inaccessible places.

If there were no hand held weapons in the game ever I would be quite happy.

I guess that's because Engineers are part of Horizons. That's like saying they are forcing us to buy space legs if we want to run around.

not really. You need legs to run around. You don’t need to land on a planet to engineer (as has now been demonstrated by remote engineering....)

FDev isn’t going to spend over a year’s with of “100 developers“ time to produce an optional feature that can be ignored (or worse, not purchased). No...if they build it they will be cramming it down our throats and there will be nothing optional about it.
Of course it will be optional, just like horizons is still optional. It may well be desireable, but I don't see that as an issue as long as it doesn't introduce any more ridiculous powercreep like engineers did.

And wait for them to turn themselves on every time I need them?

Personally I don't see a problem with HOTAS. I already have 6 degrees of freedom and I can use them to drive my SRV. I can imagine using my HOTAS to control my commander. Dunno. Will have to see how FD will implement it.

I will use my Xbox one controller for any FPS movement when in VR and use the HOTAS for any ship/SRV activities.
