General / Off-Topic Is a global recession on the way?

There is significant increase in negative buzz from the usual channels.

India has seen a huge drop in domestic car sales, and ADB forecasts for a dip in growth to 6.5 % were just released. The problem in just car manufacturing will put an estimated 1 million workers out of a job.

There is bad news from China, South America, and Europe too.

In the States, the Federal Reserve is printing money and buying debt to keep investment banks afloat. They are injecting 75 billion daily since last week and plan to continue for weeks. The interest rates are dropping, which we usually see as a corrective measure to stimulate a recovery.
Together this amounts to a de facto ongoing managed devaluation of the USD, the global reserve currency.

Maybe the oil glut on the market isn't just due to increased electric vehicles and renewables, but to global slowdown.

Did i ever mention about the 7 years of prosperity followed by 7 years of shortage(unsure if i ever mentioned it in these forums).. and the connection with the leader of the free world(DJT), and the winner of the triple crown(race horse) and how its all prophetically linked??
i should mention its all bible related.. and will relate to the what you term as a recession... pm me if you are interested

In all cases the health of the planet is much more important than the economy.
I agree, however anyone with a functional brain cell can see the hypocrisy in the debates running like wildfires today.

We (humans) dumb more waste in the oceans than ever before. Still we talk about emission regulation that really is not 100 % understood, and is mostly set in motions to control people. If the politicians actually wanted to do something useful, they should start cleaning up the oceans. Also there are many projects where you see barred land turned into green sustainable land, then again very little funding is going into these projects.

I don’t give a flying horse fart for the current agenda, it’s horse 💩 , as long as “we” don’t deal with the real problems. This 16 old manipulated child knows nothing, and still our politicians elevate her as some kind of messiah, it’s all political manipulation and I really don’t care because it’s just that, manipulation.

Jeremy Clarkson.

Bwahahahaha!

Uh, I mean "Jeremy Clarkson how dare you!"
He has broken a number of myths. Proved that the 1st Toyota Prius, used more fuel than a BMW M3, when raced around the top gear track. Proved that in London, most Porsche's emit cleaner air, than what they take into the engines.

He's a great fellow.

I would not deny that our politicians have been incapable for many, many years.

The results in various areas are under our eyes.

Yeah, this is trolling.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but we taste like chicken.
Proof that the rich are lizard people in disguise! David Icke was right all along :eek: Apparently reports from people that have partaken in cannibalism are that human flesh tastes either like veal or pork. If you do find yourself in exotic places where civilisation barely exists avoid eating 'long pig'

Yes. There is a recession on the way.
And it's going to be a big one.

There will always be recessions as long as the distribution of wealth is unequal.
Now that is interesting, how do you distribute wealth? I would go the other way, why not make people independent and free from the utility companies. If people don’t need utility companies they would not need to pay a huge bill each month just to power and heat their houses. Of course that would need a totally different energy system but still.

If everybody has rainwater and solar, and a kitchen garden, it would significantly reduce financial flows, increase independence, distribute wealth creation and generally make life better.

Public services are the cement of a civilized society.

Ultra-liberalism and the law of the jungle have no future.

I have always, known it as Long Pork, but having read, long pig, twice here. I had to check it out. Both will do, but pig is more common. We learn something every day. :D

However: I think that because of basic human nature. We would burn a lot more wood. The old wood burners are back in vogue and they do do a good job and are very cheap to run; especially, if you have a constant supply of trees, i.e. own your own land.

One issue with my part of the world. I have to declare that I have a rain barrel and it is against the local law, to sink a well or take ground water, in any way. I don't just require permission and then a licence: I have to record my usage and pay accordingly. Just one, of the wonderful things about the U.K. water, being in private hands.
