I suspect that if FD had included the FSS at launch, this wouldn't even be a discussion.
Yep. I, for myself, wouldn't have bought a major space game to play a silly chase the blob minigame, everytime I jump into a new system.
The thing is, I played a space game which mechanics suited me perfectly, for years. And , all of a sudden, the FDevs took it off from me, pretending I should, from now on, play it in their stupid way, for me.
No, thank you.

Yeah ! Release, at last, the Enhanced FSS ! Don't have us jumping into a system to be able to FSS it ! Let us do it from anywhere, even docked !
We don't like to have to fly to explore the MW !

I prefer to fly to explore too. I don't consider pressing a button for 5 seconds ADS as proper exploring in the same way I don't consider using the FSS as proper exploring either. They are both just the beginning of exploring. I really have no idea why you keep bringing this fallacy up, but hey.

I think there needs to be an open letter about this.

I notice they are using mockery to shoot down peoples complaints over there in those threads. Im not saying it doesnt invite it but i dont think they should. The speed that this "community" turns on people who dont gush positivity eh? Going after a youtuber who is supporting the game by his existance. Nevermind tho, this issue is different we dont need an open letter. Too many people stick their oar in as it is.

:)

I suggest you figure out why people do it instead of making up assumptions.

Strange, I don't have that issue with my Hotas.

I got it backwards, it's the mouse sensitivity that it's affecting and it's inversely proportional to frame rate. Use the mouse to navigate the FSS then cap the frame rate to a lower level and you'll see the mouse sensitivity increase significantly.

Maybe it used to apply to the non-mouse axes as well, maybe not. Still my stick axes have their own issues with the FSS, namely they are far slower than the mouse at anything below about 250-300 fps and that diagonals are faster than using only one axis.

It's all really obnoxious if you don't have a capped frame rate and I don't want a capped frame rate because most of the rest of the UI animations are directly tied to frame rate...same number of frames for each one, so the higher the fps the sooner it's out of the way.

Don't worry, moderation is surely coming. I'm looking forward to seeing which Python-inspired locks TJ will use.

Thats is strange. There is some od behaviour regarding the movement of the FSS. Mine works perfectly when I use a hat on the back of my throttle. It's fast and precise. But I have read that people are having issues using the mouse.

Oooh semantics - that's even more fun than non sequiturs.

How about we refer to it as a 'topic' or 'subject' instead?
It doesn't alter the fact that FDev are ignoring it in favor of randomly breaking pieces of the game.

What are you, some kind of anti-semantic fanatic?

I'll stake my right thumb that nowhere in any of the internal memos, staff-meetings, design plans, or road maps was "break the game" ever an intended goal.

Yes, there was an update in September. Yes, it had some (see above) unintended consequences (bugs), but if you think this was somehow intentional, planned, or preferred, you're out of your mind.

And ignoring What, exactly? The grovelings of a minority still begging for what they've been told "No" to already who simply cannot accept "No" as an answer because they were raised to whine and yitz to get their ways? That sort of thing should ALWAYS be ignored, or beaten until it stops, whatever it takes. Never capitulate.

Or are they "ignoring" this ambiguous "something" because they haven't dropped everything they're doing to take their directions from you? (Impersonal, collective you, for those who think they know things they don't, or can do everything better than those who actually get paid to do them).

Enlighten me here, because it's pretty dark living under this rock called Reality.

Dude, take a chill pill.

I don't think I've ever used it with non-analog inputs. I'll give that a shot later.

This is how the mouse reacts to frame rate:

Does selecting a target enable you to locate it quickly in the FSS view?

While I'm messing with the FSS, here's a demonstration of that (with a planet I didn't know my position or orientation relative to to until I selected it):

The compass really does make it easier to find stuff on the FSS.

Also, that's the movement speed of an analog thumbstick (one that reaches full deflection). The mouse can be dramatically faster, of course; I just don't like to use it without a frame rate cap as the variable sensitivity messes with accuracy. Still need to test the digital inputs...

Hate to ruin the victory, but my opinion remains unchanged from the 3.3 beta! I was in favor of the FSS+ADS compromise/mixture back then too, as I felt the FSS as Frontier designed it was too limiting and narrow in gameplay choices. The lack of adequate info at the honk is it's largest drawback, and providing some semblance of the system map after honking is still the best solution to that in my opinion.

I'm not an FSS hater, I just feel it could use some rather easy and value added improving.
