For those who Deliberately Did Not Sign the Open Letter/Petition - Why Not?

Having read most of the posts, I can't say I care if anyone chooses to represent me or not. If they claimed to represent me when I didn't agree, then I'd speak up and say so.

Going forward, I agree with most of their gripes and believe there is a lot of truth in their claims. Whether a dev/community manager/god almighty spoke to them privately in any circumstance is really irrelevant.

The point of the whole thing was to have more open communication. Speaking privately goes against that, and if they truly were for open communication, rather than have secret talks, they'd have insisted on open transparency. That did not happen, which to me means whomever spoke to them (if they did) did it as an appeasement to quell the uprising as it were, which basically just goes to demonstrate that they had a valid gripe in the first place.

In closing; We all know, nothing will change, it never does at frontier. So going forward I expect nothing but more bugs and shoddy releases.

Pretty condescending stuff. I'm ok with checking in on the game sporadically over the years and playing when I feel like it. Hard to work up the energy for this kind of silliness.

The petition may have been a total failure, but its been the funniest meltdown yet.

Despite my concerns expressed earlier I do think some/many acted in good faith and have some resonable points to make. Sadly their voice gets drowned out by the general silliness of the whole thing and the few screamy rant nutters.

Arguably so, the thing with a group effort is you need to weed out the people who make you all look bad.

Personally I'd have an easier time signing up to a petition that contained a clear single suggestion, had no element of threat or dev bashing and read less like a misguided bid to take control by people with no idea.

Why nit? More like. Because y'all are whining about nitpicks and this whole quiet year was already clearly communicated last year. It's just a slow news days and y'all feel like drumming up some useless prattle to fill up content on your channels. Get a real job.

i really don't give a darn. I play for fun. strictly casually. If there are bugs, oh well. If the developer gets into shady business practices, bummer man. I don't need to play (or not play) a video game to make a political statement

I'm sorry some of you are unhappy with the way the direction the game is being handled, but there are like...dozens of space games out on the market, some are far superior to Elite Dangerous, even if it doesn't come close to the scale and depth.

I for one don't do things that drive me crazy...like play broken video games. or complain about it on forums...

Not sure how having gained a private meeting with a c.mgr can be seen as a failure...
Open letter and petition from community representatives that call for (among other things) open and transparent communication between FDev and the community. And then said representatives engage in a private, invitation only conversation with FDev and are drip feeding the details of that conversation to the community they claim to represent. Something seems off.

Oh I agree, not exactly in the spirt of community communication now is it. But at least they did get answers 9mucho secret) answers but answers non-the-less. And cannot be seen as a 'failure' as claimed by some.

There are things that happen on this forum that get my attention, things I would gladly sign a petition for (or a card) or even donate money. This wasn't one. When the thread starter, though an entertaining gent, is noted for creating an account just to gank noobs during a live stream, that's not someone I will look to for guidance on how to make the game more enjoyable for all. Same for others in the pack who make their lulz in non-community focused ways.

Basically, don't prey on the community then expect them to join your cause when you feel your fun has been dampened. They've been dealing with it since the start.

This is one of the reasons I didn't sign the petition. In addition, I can't get behind a group of players who:
1. Effectively are pushing people away from the game with their playstyle (ganking noobs), which damages the playerbase, and consequently the future of the game. Also, pushing people into solo and private groups (then ganking them there), reducing the fun of open for everyone else.
2. Have been caught cheating (more than once), didn't report the exploits they discovered to FD, then cried like children when they lost their modules and credits
3. Use a brand of language in the game and discord servers that is, let's just say 'distasteful', especially if you're handicapped or disabled in any way
4. Told us themselves not to trust them!

Whilst I agree with many of the complaints these players have, and am in no doubt they understand the game extremely well, I'd prefer it if people who conduct themselves in this way (trolls) were neither representing me, nor the community. Thanks.

Almost as many as there are those that feel FD owes them some attention. Present company excluded, of course.
Not that I had anything to do with the petition, but I'll take pro-action any day of the weak over being used as a doormat. I guess it's the gleeful quality from the anti-petitioners embodied by quite a few on this thread that's catching my attention:)

Well in either case you're being used as a doormat by someone you just have to decide whether it's preferable to be the people you are paying or the people who you're playing.

Most of what I'm seeing can be summed up as "it doesn't say exactly what I want so I won't sign it, even if I agree with most of it!". This is a textbook example of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Overwhelming community solidarity might have actually gotten something done. It's a shame.

I had a think about this question and the OL reminds me a little bit of our old friend.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/bazmeson.430209/

OK, not quite, our old chum was much more to the point.

On a side note, I wonder if good ol' Baz ever knew what a lasting impression he made...legend.

Umm reading his ultimatum/goodbye thread it would see that maybe legendary status is a tad premature since the vast majority of responses couldn't really care and basically took the mickey out on him. And surprise surprise, the game survived his leaving, he must not have been that important after all :D
