The ADS

So how much skill and insight does the ADS require?

Because you keep accusing the FSS of being too simple, or too basic, too boring, things any reasonable person would realize applies more to the ADS and any rational person would think "gosh, I sound like a hypocrite".

So I guess I'm more curious how you avoid that, but I think the answer is that you don't care about comparing the two, you just care about complaining.

The ads didnt require any skilll. But it did its job almost instantly without needing to endure a boring, unskilled, mini-game. The fun came after you saw the system map. Not in the getting of it ‘populated’

ADS was no chore. It was just nothing.

Guys, can I just make an appeal to disregard whatever this particular thread is making you think of people.

If you take a read of what the same people are saying on the FSS suggestions thread, it paints a different picture.

These ADS threads always bring a bad tone to them, let’s not mistake that general tone of the thread for the general tone of the people in the thread.
Difficult really when he is unpleasant.

I have given him olive branch after olive branch and he throws it back in my face.

He is not here to talk, he just wants to demand and screw anyone else.

It's bully boy tactics.

I wonder about the business argument some keeps bringing up as well. That seems to ignore what was originally suggested and discussed that we were to get when the game was going live (trying to avoid using the term "promised"). I think most people thought we would get something to explore with, not a 1-button dopamine drip feed.

So business-wise, we got a lot of fancy show and tell, then a delivery of nothing. 5 years later we get a simplified version of some of the stuff discussed (and a sign that FDEV spend a lot of thought and time generating something that looked recognisable today and without being gamey). Then for some reason some wants the non-delivery back! The mind boggles...

IMHO it's more like someone has walked into an already heated argument part way through. As reasonable as they might be, anything they say appears worse due to the existing argument. They then get what to them is an OTT response, which they then respond to in kind, which then appears worse than it is due to the existing argument, and so on.

(I hasten to add when I say 'they' I'm talking in the abstract about situations of that nature, not about anyone in particular.)

Also, you made a great series of suggestions in the other thread, some of which clearly take into account and try to address the issues that many are expressing in this thread. Maybe, when those have been read, it'll show the real nature of the situation a bit better than the impression which might be taken by someone wading into this thread, which let's face it, is basically a bit of a brawl.

I spent 5 years enjoying the non-delivered gameplay. It's not complicated.

I still can't understand how FD came to the conclusion that t he "FSS pick n' click" and the" ShootThePlanet" minigames were a valid answer to the demands of the Explorers community.. Are we, players, those who actually can't communicate right?
The alternative ("we just don't care about Explo, take this!") is too frightening...

Something went badly wrong with the Beyond development, which is why we got the unnecessary Analysis Mode, the botched Codex and a bunch of minigames.

Not a mini-game. Not a "shoot the planet". Who are these The Explorers Community, and "we" in this case? Why is that the only alternative you can think of?

I wish people would stop these weird generalisations and oversimplifications. They are just polarising the discussions without bringing anything constructive the table.

Yes, minigames. Yes, pew pew the planet.
You wish?
I wish to have my game, back.

What went wrong? Only new mini-games are with the DSS and the new mining tools. Why is the analysis mode unnecessary (rather than under-developed)? What exactly is botched about the Codex except for a few bugs and again a degree of under-development?

Less generalisations, please.

Its not nonsense. I enjoyed it aswell

I enjoyed exploration too, despite the ADS. Anyway, you are cherry-picking what you answer (which I have come to expect from you lot). Making bringing back the ADS into some sort of business case is nonsense, as the actual business case (if that can even be applied) is much older than 3.3.

Aha! That's what you are doing wrong. Trying to scan a planet with pulse lasers will not give you anything back. You could ask FDEV for a SIMS type instrument where the backscatter from your lasers gives you readings about what you are shooting. I think I suggested that back in 2013/2014.

So please learn the game you are trying to argue about, and we can have a constructive discussion.
