To be clear this is not about installing the game, but an issue with the installations that exist in the game orbiting various bodies in systems.
As you may know if you visit one of these installations it sometimes triggers a mini conflict, I just had a very weird bug occur when such a conflict was triggered. For reasons of confidentiality I have omitted the identities of the factions involved who ask for privacy at this difficult time.
So Purple Corp (a system faction) own an installation. I visited the installation and the conflict triggered, the game wanted me to either
Work for Purple Corp to attack their own installation
or
Work for Orange Crew (a rival faction in the same system) to defend an installation they don't own.
After a few tries at this jumping in and out of the instance it seems that this was persistent and the following happens.
If I pick Purple Corp, it asks me to attack their station, scan nodes, destroy turrets, hack cargo hatches etc...All of the Purple Corp defending ships remain green/friendly/allied. Then some more Purple Corp ships jump in and they are showing red on my HUD.
If I pick Orange Crew, it asks me to defend the installation from the attackers, the entire instance turns red and all of the defending ship from Purple Corp attack me.
TL;DR In short the wrong factions are on the defensive / attacking teams.
Is this new or am I late to the party and missed the invite?
On another note, I'm playing pretty much every day at the moment and whilst I'm having fun (on the most part) I'm noticing more and more bugs / errors / inconsistencies in just about every facet of ED. Is any of this game breaking?...clearly not but it is deeply frustrating, time wasting and annoying that so much of this game is not working properly. Imagine the confusion this situ would engender in a new player, it confused the hell out of me when I picked to defend the station and all of the supposed allied defenders opened fire on me, only a decent set of shields and a fast ship meant that I escaped unscathed...sigh
