Another ARX thread (Complaint)

Simple solution: If mining 400M Cr doesn't make you smile and you get upset at only earning 3 Arx, all FD has to do is nerf the bejesus out of mining. Then you can't complain that 5 hours of mining Painite for 5,000 credits only gives you 3 Arx.

See, everyone will be happy :D

How many FREE Arx did you get for the same load before the update?

I'm not a fan of premium currencies in general (that's a different discussion), but this is indeed spot on.
I don't get this complaint either.
The one thing i would consider problematic were if there had been a stealth price increase for shop items with the introduction of ARX.
Now, i don't buy anything from the shop, so i wouldn't know if there had been such an increase.
But i have not read any complaints about that, so i have to assume prices are the same as they were before ARX.
Someone please correct me if that assumption is wrong.

At best 400 arx works out to be approx. 24p / 32cents / 0.28 euros.
Unless you're really hard up, playing for arx is not worth the effort so just do activities that you enjoy.

It's completely silly.
You'd make more searching trash bins for discarded bottles and take them to the next super market.

I recently watched a YouTube where they got their 400 Arx in 2hrs in a CNB. About 1/3 to 1/2 was combat Arx. The rest was Trade - by trading up all the junk they picked up falling off ships. I recently got a fair chunk of Arx trading up raw mats.

When I was coming back from Beagle Point to Colonia I was getting about 12 Arx per session on average and never got anywhere near the 400 limit per week.

I then started selling my One Billion Credits worth of exploration data and immediately hit the 400 limit.
Hmm, I thought, I could sell a bit each week and get loads of Arx.
I did it for one week and then sold the lot, the exploration data and discoveries are worth more to me than any amount of Arx.
Not complaining.

5 hours of play time. Mined and sold 522 tons of Painite for 400,000,000+. Got a wopping 3 arx. What gives FDEV? Not once have I broken 100 Arx in a week.
Arx are counted towards times of transaction. If you only make 1 Transaction you will be rewared for one. regardless of how much profit this one transaction gives. Next time, try to sell your haul in small packages.

What? You're not getting sex for playing Elite? 😂

All I know is when I strap the VR headset on, sit in my chair with the HOTAS between my legs for hours on end it drives my wife crazy..she just cant keep her hands off this hunk of CMDR. :geek:

well, not really

Buy a sidewinder, attach the station and get blown up. 6 Arx. Then you get insta-teleported to the prison colony (I want that feature the other way too) and when you take off in your sidewinder, attack the station again. 6 more Arx. Repeat until watching paint dry gets more interesting.

Exactly.... I don't get all those complaints about ARX being exploitative and stuff like that.... you get them for nothing now, before that, you got nothing without paying for paintjobs, kits et al. now all you do is play the game and watch them grow.

So what are they complaining about really, that the speed at which they get the FREE Arx disappoints them or that certain tasks are rewarded better than others? Must be something like that.

..... Honestly, I still don't get it though.... LOL

Humans are simply weird. For example, a few studies have shown that people are happier when you give them a large gift compared with the exact same large gift plus a tiny gift. The tiny gift somehow devalues the large gift in many people's mind. There are many variations, but often the conclusion is the same: giving someone a small thing for free often makes them less rather than more happy. For example: Beyond and Horizons would have been received much more favorably had it been released as one major update instead of numerous smaller ones.

This week I've been fighting in CZs with massacre missions, and also taking surface missions from another nearby system. I maxed out in two days. I don't know which was earning me more.
When the war's over I'll take a stack of surface scan and generator kill missions and see what it earns me without any other mess tying things up.

One thing to consider is that I stacked a lot of those surface missions before the thursday tick when my arx were already maxed out since they give you a pretty generous 6 day timer to complete them, so I wasn't at the mercy of the mission board to give me some. If skimmers and turrets still count as "a kill" then that's a pretty swift way to rack up some combat arx if you don't mind a bounty on your bomber :D

you can make more money mining today than you ever could with mission stacking, in fact mining completely obsoletes any activity for money making to a degree that it's simply offensively stupid.
if mining made lots of arx most people would never do anything else again, the free arx is an incentive to vary your playstyle instead of just grinding for it.

I think Arx is great the way it is.

I have earned the 400 I think every week it came out except this last without doing anything in particular to earn that.

I did purchase the 100k arks bundle so I got enough and dont really care about earning but its a nice to have I suppose.

My problem is that I have a sneaking suspicion that Arx are going to start to move towards play-to-win or gameplay-altering mechanics. And I suspect the delay of fleet carriers has a relationship with this. 2 years they have been in development for now, and as a professional programmer, I know its not that difficult a thing to do. All the assets are there from megaships, most of the work to do fleet carriers is for the artists and working out balance issues(price etc). So I suspect fleet carriers are ready-to-go and have been for a while now. Which leads to the question: why have they not been released? There has been talk of a "something else" not just credits that is required to maintain fleet carriers. Any 3 guesses what that "something else" they want it to be? Community right now would just not stand for it. But after 6 months, esp some quality-of-life features are introduced that can be purchased for Arx...

Gavin's paranoia most likely, but food for thought nonetheless.
