Advice requested

Does anyone have advice for a new anaconda pilot. Im looking to do some more core mining. So i have money to spend and rebuy if necessary before i fully use my anaconda but id like some tips. Any good combat/exploration build ideas?

Please don't say you are flying your brand new Anaconda without having a rebuy (or four) available? If you are, just park it and use another ship for mining because it is a given you will lose your new acquisition.

Good ships for core mining - well anything that has medium or larger hardpoints and has the necessary internal slots to find all you need (collector and prospector controllers, refinery and then everything else cargo - although a shield is strongly recommended). There are numerous guides around giving different builds for different ships. Personally, I first used my AspE then got smart and use my Krait Mk II - which I think is perfect for my core and surface mining requirements.

I can rebuy my anaconda i just want to have money so i can upgrade and not have to worry about rebuy costs thank you for your advice though

Found https://coriolis.io/outfit/anaconda ? Its kinda fun to take your time and make something for you that works. Maybe have a go and link what you come up with for optimisation, ship builds are kinda obvious usually.

Heres a very generic old build i had to start with for combat exploration. Its a bit embarrasing but something for you to start with. Its just begging to have improvements done to it:

Also today for large multipurpose i prefer the cutter or the type 10 because of the cargo. The fact that the ships are harder to fly becomes a bonus for being interesting not a disadvantage as the hours rack up.

This is my babe (except with a huge multicannon not beam and srv instead docking computer, definitely keep supercruise assist for trucking): https://s.orbis.zone/4yv-

And for mining (nothing else comes close :p): https://s.orbis.zone/3kve

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking but, based purely on seeing the words "Anaconda" and "Deep Core Mining" in the same sentence, my advice would be to buy a Python for DC mining and use the Annie for something else entirely.

I use mine as large multirole ships and they're great for that.

Annie is overkill for DC mining.. well, any mining. But there are people who use a Cutter for that too, so... <shrug>

Make sure you have good shields, and probably a fighter bay. I'd also suggest turreted weapons..

I really like my Anaconda for Core mining, but you really need to engineer the drives for it to be decent. Else she will be a bit sluggish.

Unless you play in Solo or a PG, you won't need weapons. I get scanned upon arrival, the generic 'My kids will go hungry tonight" message and they leave me alone. Only if you log out and log back in, another pirate will show up and scan you again. For that scenario, you better have some guns and a shield.

The first law of Elite: Dangerous. Many tears have been spilled from CMDRs who ignored it : NEVER FLY WITHOUT A REBUY.

Anaconda EXPLORATION/TAXI Build : https://s.orbis.zone/4mme

If you dont have access to Prismatics, or dont have much self-confidence flying open, then use a 7D ENH LOW POWER SHIELD and put fuel scoop on 6. Your ships need to be survivable first and foremost. See so many explorers complaining about losing their data. Absolutely no reason to these days, tiny % off max jump range for huge, quality shields.

Anaconda Combat Build : Dont have one to hand, but ppl have had a lot of success using the conda as a rail boat. It actually will excel no matter what sensible loadout you use, its a great ship in any role.

This is actual build I did on latest exploration : https://s.orbis.zone/4yxs

Thanks to SenseiMatty for pointing that out.

When you return to bubble you can get rid of most of the scanners/repair limpets etc.

Some points :

Always take 2 AFMUs they weigh nothing, take no power when switched off and can repair each other meaning all your modules are at 100%
Take the smallest possible repair limpet controller 1d. Synthesize limpets when you need them, then eject the remainder.
Taking a mining laser is optional. It allows you to get jumponium from asteroids and there was a famous case where it was needed to save a CMDR by fuel rats.

SenseiMatty is correct should have been in build I gave above.

Couple of minor points....

Never leave empty slots on an exploration ship.
Any damage (such as that sustained from heavy landings or getting cooked by a star) is divided between every module you have fitted.
Empty internal slots means more damage is applied to things like your thrusters, FSD and life-support.
If you really don't have stuff to put into slots, fill them up with AFMU's (which weigh nothing) and then disable them.

Also, on the subject of slots, be wary of building a ship and leaving slots vacant so they can be filled later.
When you're running a small, G5 engine-focused PDist it's easy to end up with insufficient power for any internal modules you might choose to fit in future.

Secondly, on the subject of PDist's, if you've fitted an A-rated PDist, chances are that a D-rated PDist' one class larger will also work and be a bit lighter.

Agreed! An Anaconda isn't a good choice for Motherlode mining... A Python is also what I use...

Sure. Park your Anaconda somewhere nice and safe and get yourself a DBX. Room enough for one hour/60 MCr. worth of VOs, and enough jumprange to get to your favourite sales hotspot without refuelling.

That is good advice about the AFMUs filling the empty slots, thank you.

I dont know what this means. How could the PDist influence modules in future? Did you mean to say power plant?

I always run the coolest/lightest plant I can which is why I eschew class D plants and advise others not to.

What I find fun is using a python for the actual core mining, and then i transfer everything into my corvette to go sell it. The Vette is kind of like an armored car that I take to get the best prices for my haul.

I think you could do a similar thing. Just make sure your conda has teeth, a good FSD, and equal or more cargo than the mining ship.
