Yes/No Animal Questions for Frontier

I'm sure the Frontier team are working their butts off, reading our feedback and reports, fixing bugs and trying to implement features that are not yet in the game, and I'm so amazed by Planet Zoo and the achievements of the team so far! In the interest of time saving and hopefully getting some quick answers to quell people like me in the community who are going nuts wondering, I would love to get some straight yes/no answers (if possible) on the following questions:

  • Will animals have pattern variation in their coats (e.g. different stripes on a zebra)? [Yes - Apparently I wasn’t looking closely enough and these pattern differences are in game]
  • Will animals have colour variation in their coats (e.g. different tones/shades, different colours for wolves, etc - "albinos" don't count, wonderful as they are)?
  • Will time be adjusted (i.e. will game days last longer in real time)?
  • Will social behaviour (in social animals) be increased to occur as often as once per real life minute?
  • Will animal behaviour differ between individuals within a species?
  • Will young animals stick to and socialise with their mothers?
  • Will young mammals suckle? (Note: this was never claimed to be in game by Frontier, I just would personally expect it)
  • Will pack/herd max numbers be adjusted?
  • Will family trees be integrated into the game?
  • Will animals grow gradually from young to adult?
These questions stem from features that were promised to be in the game, but which do not yet occur, or (in the case of social behaviour) occur so rarely as to almost never happen. I really appreciate that responses may be limited, but I thought I'd give it a go in case this format would allow for some brief answers. Does anyone have some quick yes/no type questions to add?

I think most people are way outside the refund window now, which is a shame because people should have the chance to refund if the features they were sold on are never going to be in the game after all.

I don’t want to refund the game, I want confirmation that the features I was most looking forward to will be there.

I have a tongue-in-cheek yes/no: is the frontier team deliberately avoiding answering questions and concerns the community has?

I'm frustrated. All of these concerns were raised in beta, and the Frontier team still didn't push back the release date or address what the community was bringing to them. It's been a week since launch, so I'm not concerned about them rushing to fix every single thing (even though they should have pushed the release date back in order to do so during beta) but the non-communication is really pushing me into contemplating a refund.

Couldn't agree more with you,Moonfox - again.
Personally, I would include a question about the missing family tree and the missing gradual growth/juvenile stages,to which they dedicated a whole Developer Journal named "scaling".(They are also referring to the family tree in that Developer Journal.)

Oh I forgot about those! Added family tree and growth stages - very good points!

The game has been out for 8 days including 2 weekend days. If people want to refund based on a game that new, they should go ahead and do so and repurchase in a month or two after updates flesh the game out. Planet Coaster was the exact same way, and needed time to shine. There's lots of stuff that was advertised that isn't here yet, and I would rather let them keep working on getting it fixed and added. People that try to scare/threaten developers with refunds don't really help a game or it's community.

Should we start sending letters? Emails? I checked the website and they don't seem to have an email address for support, just directing to forums, facebook, twitter, etc

Not to harass them, but just to insist that we want some straight answers on promised features, if they're going to be implemented or not

I took the liberty of answering your questions based upon what we know and my expectations.

Yes
Yes
No
maybe
maybe
maybe
no
yes (at least the Wolfs)
maybe/yes, but not as extensive as people expect them to be (too much data). Mother/father could be a thing, but more than that would lead to massive amounts of data that needs to travel with the animal. And with the amount of animals that keep being born every minute, that data will only grow larger.
yes

My biggest issue is this. A lot of what they promised in the initial release isn't there,as they said it would be, and there hasn't really been any response from the dev team about the mass majority of it. Like, if you need time to add these things to the game, just say so. By all means, I'm willing to wait and understand the time is takes for these things. But don't promise people something will be there at the beginning and then release it without it, because there will be backlash, and answers will be expected. And when they're not, it makes the company look bad. I would definitely like to see if any of this is being acknowledged and possibly (hopefully incredibly soon) answered. Some of these questions are HUGE dealbreakers for me.

We wouldn't want another no mans sky fiasco. That was an astronomical mess.

And almost everyone threatening to refund their game, don't do it anyway..
Most of them posted screenshots or complaining about other stuff in the last couple of days.

First, there are different patterns on the animals like zebra and tiger, so I don’t even get why this is a question? maybe just look at your animals?

Second, threatening a company with refunds all the time is the equivalent to a kid threatening to “tell their mommy you’re playing with their toy” like if you want to refund, then refund and buy it later, quit using it as a threat 🙄

The game has been out for less than 10 days. Frontier has been listening to feed back and responding, honestly there are hundreds of threads, asking for things and giving feedback, plus there are bugs to fix and I’m sure they are doing what they can. We’ve only had one update so far, so relax and be patient. Not everything can happen right away.

The way some people act is like they’ve never played a game so soon after release, there are going to be issues, there are going to be bugs and there are going to be tweaks and stuff that needs
to be adjusted.

Less than 10 days, it’s been less then 10 days...and people are already up in arms..

Can you describe whats missing?

Im interested in knowing what is "a lot".

Personally i don't want a social interaction between my animals every IRL minute. Way too much..

I think some of them can be answered with no... Not much demand for it or requires an overhaul in AI/graphics..

Family tree, was disappointed about that feature as well.. (was expecting a different feature)

Btw, the first one is already in the game, zebras have a slightly different pattern and African Wild Dogs too...

Lies, no but some features feel somewhat lackluster compared to the earlier stories..

I think most answers they will give on these questions won't sit well with the community..

The point is that most of these features were advertised to be in the FULL game. They didn't say "we will add xy some months after the game released".
That is the problem. They advertised and talked about things that are going to be in the full game (see developer journals, beta answers),but now aren't.And now people are asking what happened with those features?

Where did they announce juveniles would suckle with their parents?

And the family tree part?

Just curious, because i didnt know it would be this extensive.
