Jurassic World Evolution: Return to Jurassic Park and Update 1.12 - What we know so far

We have a picture of the newly updated bathrooms for JWE in the JW theme!

More info to be revealed tomorrow! :D
Brilliant, it looks very similar to the Jurassic Traders gift stand from the movie!

In other news, Steggs has recently confirmed on the official subreddit that Compsognathus will be like the other dinosaurs and we'll have to make an enclosure for them! That would probably explain why there’s chain link fencing woven within the classic wire fences.

Unless they have a pack attack, I wonder how the compies will eat. My bet is an insect feeder. They’re actually easier to produce than mammals, and we already have a fish feeder, so why not diversify our meats a little more? PK is already doing that, so how we get some tasty bugs of our own. I also hope we get your beef and pork, Sparx, not to mention a mechanic that allows Homalocephale and other dinos that small to escape.

So I found this video on YouTube. Apparently Frontier has been working on this DLC before the game was even released. This guy says he was invited to the Frontier studio but he was under a NDA so he couldn't talk about it, basically he saw them working on the Ford explorer tour vehicle back then. He says when we were first invited to the studio meaning a little while before the game was released. With the amount of new buildings, skins, remodeled dinosaurs and everything else we are getting there is no way they have been working on this DLC for just a few months.

I mean the Jurassic park tutorial is pretty well known, and a few reworked assets is probable, but waiting 1.5 years to release something basically complete seems unlikely. There's also the fact that a lot of the original models for JWE were replaced by ILM models, though the new T-rex for example has ended up quite different from the original (if you check their earliest video).

Also everyone being really busy around the office for the last couple of months doesn't seem like something Steggs would make up.

The latest confirmation we have is that restrooms function as a new need for guests. Unlike other services, this is a service would not generate an income, so this in turn means that there is a need to keep guests satisfied with the restroom acting as a tax. Would make attaining a decent income a bit harder, but I doubt it will be game breaking and would add to the park building experience.

Likewise, the themes that are the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World assets are separate from each other. When starting a new challenge mode or sandbox mode, players have to choose which of these two theming they would like.

Switching to either theme would grant us access the the appropriately themed buildings, and ai. This does leave some questions:
• Are they based on time periods? They are indeed based on time periods.
• Will the legacy skins be tied to the JP setting alone? Steggs clarified that they are unlockable once the campaign is done.
• Will the division leaders be in the JP theme challenge mode?
• Will exclusive content be locked from one another such as gyrospheres, safari cars, and hybrids?

The only thing I want are the tiger raptors, but I have something more urgent. Knowing Ellie, there’s gotta be a health challenge. Healing sick dinosaurs as well as paleobotany. On the subject of paleobotany, can we please have an ornithopod category instead of hadrosaurs and iguanodonts with a standard 3 positive and negative plants and have Claire’s Sanctuary start with 6 plants and then unlock the other 4.

sigh... so apparently you can't mix and match the various building themes... lame. One of the biggest problems with JWE is the lack of variety, and when they finally get around to adding variety we're told we have to pick one or the other...

I think the split is more than just buildings. If this is the case, that means that the divisions from the jurassic world would be replaced by the divisions in Jurassic Park (whoever they may be). Guests would also be different, and maybe cabot finch would be voiced by someone else in challenge mode (John Hammond Maybe?). I think it is too soon to say what the switch has in store, but I think the bathroom is probably shown off first because it is the least interesting compared to the later feature focus.

So we know that there will be Vehicular destruction, and that may be its own feature focus, which then leaves us with the third week as a mystery of sorts.

Where's the confirmation of this?

Players who have the new DLC Jurassic World Evolution: Return to Jurassic Park, will also gain access to the new Jurassic Park style facilities featuring a design with a thatched roof inspired by the film. These will be available in the new narrative campaign or when selecting the "Jurassic Park" era setting in a new Sandbox or Challenge Mode! Check out the screenshots below:

In today's feature foccus @Dark_Ansem

I'm sad it's not the single restroom that Gennaro got eaten into. However, the article suggests that they WILL be mixable in campaign, but not sandbox or challenge.

The way this game works if you don't meet the requirements it holds your park rating back. I imagine the bathrooms will be tied to park rating. It wouldn't make sense to charge people to use a bathroom at a high tech and expensive vacation resort like JP or JW.

I was perfectly fine without the bathrooms. With all the buildings we have to place around enclosures and so on to meet visitor needs I am sure they all have bathrooms. The building that allows guests to see the Dinosaurs even has a bathroom sign on it indicating the building has bathrooms.

Having to place bathrooms, benches and so on every where just gets really tedious. It might work for some small local amusement park or whatever. But it seems out of place with this games setting.

The recent feature reveal also brings me more questions.

If there will be an divided style of both JW and JP style buildings (and likely other structures), will the aviary be the same? The aviary in the DLC is designed to match the aviary in Jurassic Park III, as well as having a respective 1993 look as a whole. But, assuming it can be used in the normal JW parks, will it have a more respective modernized look for it, which would be that giant glass biodome kind of look? If the design from the DLC pictures were to be added in your Jurassic World parks, it will just stick out like a sore thumb, because it won’t be well themed to those environments.

This also brings me more questions.

Will be the aviary as a whole really be a DLC exclusive from Return to Jurassic Park, or is it really going to be part of the free 1.12 update, and what you’re seeing in the pictures is merely just the Jurassic Park style of it, just like how the restroom was visually revealed to have both a JW and JP style for their respective park styles?

That also begs me these questions: Is the pteranodon really going to be a new DLC species? Whether or not it will, will this mean it will have a JW style of the pterosaur, and that the JPIII variant of the thing in the images is just another “legacy skin” design?

Lastly, since the aviary will be a thing, will this mean the Dimorphodon, the smaller pterosaur from the first Jurassic World / fourth Jurassic Park film will be implemented as well, however the aviary as a whole will be implemented through the charged DLC or free update? The former which I personally don’t think so, since the dimorphodon isn’t a big deal in the JP trilogy as it is in the JW trilogy.

So we won't be able to mix the buildings up, we can't use JW style buildings in a JP park build and we can't mix JW buildings with a JP style build. I don't know if this means in sandbox as well. It may also mean we can't do that in sandbox.

But we can use the JP DLC dinosaurs in the JW part of the game. It honestly doesn't bother me that much cause I probably won't be playing the JW part of the game much after this anyway unless they release a new DLC for it.

I also hope they will provide new stuff for the JP DLC and stuff in the free updates for it. Basically like what they do with the main JWE part of the game.

I was watching a video by BestInSlot and he said we can't mix up the buildings. Meaning JP buildings can't be used in the JW part of the game. I don't know if this extends to the sandbox or not. So the aviary me be a JP only thing. Hopefully not for JW fans sake.

Well, that’s the point of some of my questions regarding the aviary.

If the aviary has a JP style for that setting of aesthetics, and assuming aviaries will be a thing for your Jurassic World parks, I wonder if the aviary will have a more modern JW style for that aesthetic era set as well. Same goes for the pteranodon, if it will have the JPIII style for the DLC, assuming will be available for your JW setting parks, will this mean the pteranodon will obtain it’s JW saga design as well?

These are unanswered questions I want to bring out to consider until further information.
