The Cobra Mk4 - The Pilot

You could have mine too.
I flew it once, realised that in every way it suffers in comparison to ... well I was going to say my beloved MkIII but almost any other ship works.
I mean, I'm a fan of a good number of the more obscure ships, but the MkIV is positively unfan'able.

As for the vid, possibly your best yet :) gasp
Thank you very much. I was pretty proud of the introduction shot.

When you can't afford a Python and have been playing the game for a year: Cobra Mk IV...
For everyone else...
Profit.

Thanks for reminding me I've got one. I took it to the Engineers yesterday and G5-ed most of it's modules and weapons. The result is... quite mediocre, really. :D But at least it's a half decent ship to fly now and it can deal with NPC pirates too. In fact it's ideal for doing those chain transport missions that accumulate on the mission board over time. But aside from that, the Cobra mk IV's real asset is it's exclusivity of course. Everybody wants a selfie-screenhot with it.

Erm... No. LOL

Mk III can do it just as well.

Absolutely. The cobra MK3 can do everything in the game, most of it with a single set up.

Not mining though, needs a specific set up for that, but it can absolutely do it when set up for it.

Yes it can mine. Trust me. Anything you think you know about the Mk III? I know it better.

Especially in non-combat roles. I have no idea what you think the Mk III is missing for mining. So please enlighten me.

And the Mk IV can't "do it all + mine" either. If you think it can... You don't have as much of an understanding of Cobras as you think you do.

Cobra Mk III can mount one of each mining hardpoint, pulse wave, collector, prospector, refinery, shield, cargo...

It's actually a stupid good mining ship.

And unlike the defenceless Mk IV, it has speed available for defensive flying.
But .... ummm.... how much cargo ? :D

32t. Yes. Less than a Mk IV. But a Mk IV will die if someone looks at it. Mk III has speed.

There's more to choosing a ship than MOAR cargo. That's why so many of you for die in three seconds to gankers.
And if you really wanted to, you could replace the mining laser with a mining lance, and would have a mining AND combat ship. All that's needed then is patience;)

Honestly it makes no sense to outfit for all four mining systems in one build. Specialise instead. Mk III can mount its deep core gear on the starboard side and pack some guns on the port. There. You have combat capabilities on a mining Cobra. Though it's a mining ship. You should really just focus on evade. Mining ships are always at a huge disadvantage in combat.

Yeah it was more a theoretical point. I personally don't think small ships are worthwhile for strip mining due to lack of space for both cargo and enough limpets. It'll just take to long to strip a rock so I tend to stick to core hunting for small ships (given you spend most of your time flying rather than staying stationary) and big ones (like my T10) for strip mining. Although the T10 is fitted for all eventualities.
