Black Friday Sale - Now

As I said above, seems like a reasonable assumption.

Pardon my apparent confusion, but is it really a lack of common sense for me to assume the Black Friday skins would be on offer when the Black Friday sale started?

Arx has been on sale on the Xbox store in the past. Same when it was Frontier points. It doesn’t happen very often, but I usually try and grab some when they are on sale.
No I'm just a tad disgruntled with the ED community and saw an opening for a cheap joke.

How many ARX are the Midnight Black paint jobs gonna cost. Though I've got a couple of thousand ARX since the concept began, I've no ARX on my Fronbtier Store Account. Using an American credit card from Mexico on a purchase from somewhere on the other side of the pond can take awhile to accomplish. And if the sale is only one day, I'll have to buy the ARX now so they will be available Friday.

Well how are we supposed to know? The skins have never been sold with ARX before.

I reckon the Midnight Black paints will be at the top tier level @ 3250 Arx a pop. Wild guess though.

I'll be honest, since the swap over to Arx, ive not bought anything (Prior to that, I usually picked up something most weeks)

There used to be a time I would casually just browse the shop and think, hey, that ship kit/paint job/whatever looks nice, ill buy that and fly around in it later.

But now its more a case of, I cant be bothered with a virtual currency, even though the logic is the same, I cant explain it. Its like the extra step has made me think, hey I would sooner pick up soemthing else for a few £ and get something I can actually use/enjoy.

You're just thinking like someone who understands their finances. Nothing wrong with that. You understand your cash leaving your hands in numbers you've been using your whole life. Braben Bucks are meaningless numbers with an unnecessarily large scale.

I still have that same mind set, of looking through the store every once and a while and buying something I like the look of on impulse.

It has always been a virtual currency on Xbox so fortunately I have never had to think about it any other way. Before Arx it was Frontier Points, and you had to buy the whole pack of paint jobs to get a single color. You also couldn’t earn Frontier points in game at all.

I have never stopped to think about the actual cost, it was never that important to me. I am lucky enough to have disposable income that I can afford to spend.

I justify myself spending money on these items to help support a game I have enjoyed for many many hours.

I get that not everyone can justify giving Frontier money in this fashion, but it is never required to spend any money on the cosmetic stuff. You can still enjoy the game without ever buying a paint job or anything. Each to their own I say.

I thought all the black Friday skins were free. I seem to have one for pretty much all of my ships and don't remember buying them.

You got them with your Horizons pre order... for the ships available at the time.

You'll need to buy the ones for the ships post horizon launch.

Don't. People would complain that they are being tricked into buying lots of Arx now for future purchases, although they don't know if they are going to spend them.
You mean like selling a bobblehead for a single ARX when most players had no ARX? Like that?

Well they were £2 each last year, which would work out at about 3,333 Arx (calculated based on the basic 5,000 Arx pack for £2.99) so you're probably right.

I didn't partake in it but there was an offer for a free Thargoid bobble head a month or two ago and when I checked to see how it looked, Frontier wanted one ARX for it. Though I had a 1,000 plus I failed to see why a FREE bobble head cost even one ARX.

convenient isn’t it? A “sale” where you end up spending the same amount of money. Such a deal!
Well, it depends I guess - I was able to buy a kit on sale by opting for a lower tier Arx pack (5.99€), which left about 1000 Arx leftover balance - as opposed to having to go for the 11.49€ pack and leaving me a 'lot' more Arx leftover.

It's still not ideal obviously and that is exactly the problem I still have with Arx (and the fact there are no paint packs available), but in this particular case it worked out fine as I needed some additional Arx for another single paint I wanted to unlock anyways, and I'll have enough Arx accumulated by the weekend to obtain it without spending any further real money on the store.

What this whole Arx setup does as opposed to before is make me properly plan what I need to spend in € in order to unlock whatever items. The side effect of this is that I will not pile up items willy-nilly by adding them to the store basket anymore and realise that I bought a lot more than I originally planned for.

Not so good for FDev but certainly better for my credit card, as I still only spent €5.99 as opposed to 10 or 15.
