What's your ping/packet loss/country

I just played a session in open, out exploring so no other cmdrs around. I did not attempt a multicrew session during the playtime, ~30 minutes in total.

I exited to the main menu afterwards and got a ping of 595ms and a packet loss of 49.9%. The other stats reported no other direct (player connections) but 20/20 successful server connections. I made ~20 jumps during the session so I assume the game is re-connecting to the server after/during each jump?

Despite the ~50% packet loss I did not get any disconnects or errors.

I do wonder what the network menu is measuring...

You intentionially play with such a high ping and spoil other players fun.
It? Another disrespectful comment.
I set you both on my ignore list as it seems you are unable to handle other peoples opinions and views.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the network stats, I suspect they are still "in beta". For example, just now I got an MTU of 0 and ping time of exactly 1000.0 MS. Perhaps it would be wise to collect an average of our stats over 3 or 4 sessions at different times of day.

Country: UK (VDSL on Plusnet)
Ping: anything from 30 to 300ms (avg. about 50ms). speedtest.net almost always reports 9ms.
Packet Loss: anything from 3 to 13% (avg. about 8%)*
MTU: 1388

*like others this has surprised me, router is reporting no packets in error and I have no connectivity issues in game or otherwise.

I'm happy for each individual to submit multiple times, I've taken all of 762s figures to get an average for him/her and entered it on the first page as a single entry. Though, I'd rather you make it easy on me and just give me a single set/give me your personal average score! :)

Country: US (northern Midwest, i.e., not Hawaii :()
Ping: 145.5ms
Packet Loss: 5.9%

...

If you're up for it, it would be interesting to see the min/max range per country too.

Can do, and good point. I'm adding them all on to a spreadsheet as I go, so min/max is easy enough to add to the OP

Country: USA
Ping: I didn't know where to find this before - so thanks, I'll check when I get home.
Packet Loss: See above.
MTU: See above

120 x 60 MB connection, Spectrum cable.

I cannot possibly conceive how a VPN, a Virtual Private Network would make the slightest difference. In fact, it should lower your connection speed if anything, as you're still routing through your own internet connection, connecting to someone else's network. It may LOOK like you're getting a better ping, because the network you've connected to has a better ping, but this is really an illusion, because you still have the same ping you always had, across your own connection.

Its well worth one Cmdr checking ping rate on different times/days. As last Friday I'm sure my ping was over 400. :O

Flimley

Agreed, something like that will likely help me - I need to track down the times I can get a ping better than 400!

It's got something to do with our ISPs and UDP traffic. There are some games that mates of mine in Aus HAVE to use a VPN to play online - PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is an example - even though they're on a 100/40mb connection. Packet loss can be drastically better

Agree. This is probably why most internet quality tests report good ping and packet loss as I assume they are TCP based?

Ping:- Varies from 195ms to anywhere between 400 and 500ms
MTU:- 1500
Packet Loss:- 0.0%
0 connection failures(I have no idea how as I've got multiple connection errors)
Country:- India

And before you ask, yes, the experience is horrible.
