ARX generation methods

My take is quite simple; no matter what you partake 'in-game' in, you should be able to earn the same amount of Arx per hour on average.

I'm seeing a 3200% variation over 2 hours play between exploring & selling the data and Mining. This simply cannot be right in any way. I don't believe anyone should 'feel' as if they need to carry out any specific activity in order to earn these in-game credits, which are supposed to be a bonus 'whatever playstyle you have'.
I also saw a 1600% variation between my exploration Arx return and that received on carrying out missions.

FD have chosen to make these part of the game world now and so should balance them accordingly. I don't believe anyone should have to make the choice to explore simply to improve their Arx 'return on effort'. This is a mindset FD have created by introducing Arx, which could drive people away from their preferred activity to the extent they enjoy the game less, or simply not log in and eventually 'walk away' from a dissatisfying experience. The reality of this disparity of the value of various activities has made me not really want to log in since last Thursday's 'tick'.

They gave more info but did not tell the users who were waiting to set up macros what they had to do to exploit it to insure they get the MAX arx in the minimum time...
That was never going to be released... and was clear they were never going to release the "How to grind the 400 in < 1hour" list...
The Hide the earned amount untill at the main menu to update arx total script trigger was a very clear statement that you not see the arx counter go up every minute of play time...
OK I must have missed that announcement. Can you provide a a link to the info / post / announcement please, would love to read it as I'm sure would many others.

He's missing out on in-game items bought with an in-game currency. It's no different than collecting credits, materials, rank or any other game currency required to get game assets. Why is collecting CR to get a different shaped ship OK, but collecting ARX for a different coloured ship not?

I never said it wasn't OK, just not worth the time you guys are spending on it.. As I said earlier, the awards system for ARX is clearly borked. Now, if you want to suggest that a paint job and a ship have the same in game function and utility, I'm just gonna have to comment something about apples and oranges.

I guess I also don't understand the mindset of "I must alter my gameplay style to have all the things!". I play to earn credits to enable ship/equipment upgrades and play for rank. Worked out yesterday that I can grind Fed rank really fast with targeted carto data - gained about 60% yesterday.

I have a purple paint job with purple engine detailing and a couple of decals, also have a couple of flight suits. I bought some ARX to facilitate these purchases - although I did blow my first earnt 50 on a random decal.

The most ARX I earned in one session was over 100 for trade. I didn’t do any normal trade, I did visit a material trader though. They must have put that feature in for the salt.

The most lucrative feature for credits in this game is core mining, makes sense you’d get a low ARX payout for it. You choose the reward you want the most.

It feels like they have arranged it in a way that if you flit about doing different things, a couple of missions, bit of trade, bit of killing, jumping around, you earn a fair bit. Like they’re encouraging you to not get stuck core mining 6 hours a night.

Yeah, I agree with your assessment. The more varied activities I do, the more ARX I seem to acquire. Quick 800ly explore with a bunch of ELWs and HMC's, into some courier missions coupled with some trade followed by some quicky pirate killing. Couple of hours fun, netted about 150 ARX..

Making ARX and varied gameplay. Win win.

Well I can certainly say that running delivery or courier missions does not earn any arx whatsoever unless you happen to pick up an odd one for a discovery along the way, combat on the other hand dishes them out nice and fast.

I'm not sure what earnt the ARX, I was just mentioning what I did while playing, I wasn't hunting ARX. I did learn that following tips from 'Mysterious Strangers' can get your SRV shot up and upset your day.. 300ly for some random crap and a damaged SRV. Running over that site with quad multicannons was kinda fun.

50 arx mixed from exploration / trade / other from completing 40 missions over 6 hours.
20 missions = zero arx
10 missions = 5 arx
200 arx from buying a Hauler and spending 5 million credits (did not leave station)
50 arx from doing 4 low Conflict Zones.
81 arx from 6 "dont remember" Conflict zones.
187 arx droping off 41.8 million exploration data
6 arx droping off 0.5 million exploration data
took a SRV to 8km altitude = 0 arx

Because of the number of hours I play every week, I earn my 400 in the first couple to three days. I'm an member of the AEDC and with the exception of doing work for the Dark Wheel when the AEDC doesn't need my services. I only work for the AEDC. Which for me involves everything and anything but trading via the commodity board and mining. Thus I'd concur, just play the game and let the ARX do what they do.

Same for me. I had my 400 on friday. Well, I did CZs but still...
This week I'm gonna hauliday haul, curious how much ARX that will give.

Yes! do what you feel is fun, which for me is community driven... What i do is either missions which pay zero arx, or hauling the least profitable commodity to station repairs so that others don't have too. Heck if the trade leaderboard was not profit focused then the mining guild wouldn't be in the top 10.

Just crash your sidewinder into a station til capped. Deaths reward ARX, apparently. I haven't tested it yet though. Just a rumour going round.
I got disassembled recently.Got 6 arx for my pains.Wouldn't advise it as a career, though.Turn in two weeks worth of explo data and the cap for the week is reached.(But i spend quite a bit of time in the game so ymmv.)

Ok, 400 ARX are free every week providing one plays the game. I personally never get involved any more than I had to when it comes to using the commodity board or mining. I did what I had to, and never again. How many ARX am I missing out on by not getting involved in commodity trading or mining, I'll never know; Nor do I care. IF the only way I could obtain the free ARX every week, is by doing trading via the commodity board and or mining. Then I would never ever get any. I mean, big deal, it's only 400 a week, what's the big deal.

Don't ask reasonable questions, you get branded a heretic like me.

It's not enough free Arx because people have poor impulse control.. It's not enough Arx because people are crazy competitive about everything and need MOAR! It's a price obfuscating scam.. It's the road to Pay-To-Win.. These are all things I've had said to me about Arx, just because I didn't hate the idea. Apparently it is a big deal for some, who feel they must ensure they get all 400 every week, even if it means they are not playing for fun.. I play, I get free Arx. A few weeks I've maxed it out, a few I haven't. Big deal. Blew it on a paintjob for a ship I owned for about 20 minutes.

Flew from the Bubble to Colonia in a 40ly Clipper, neutron-jumping and honking but not otherwise exploring, cashed in data, got 400 arx.

I utilized both the PS4 and the Xbox but not at the same time for two years playing ED. Both systems utilize an ARX type of payment. And not once during the whole two years did I ever obtain one let alone 400 as Fdev gives per week. But then I was taught never to look a gift horse in the mouth.
