For the love of all things Holy, yet doomed to be forgotten.

Please add a WARNING if I have a limpet controller fitted and a cargo hold devoid of limpets.
Just like when you have an SLF but have no crew selected. Or when switching around your
guns to remember and fix your fire groups. I have a mining hardpoint but no refinery? Hmm,
please fill me in on this fact. I have dashes in my plotted route you say? Maybe a fuel scoop
would come in handy.

It's the little things FDev.
Thx X.

So in fact you need someone to take you by the hand to make a pre-flight check?

"before you can launch your ship, you must start the game"

Sorry but that's utterly silly.

Silliness is in the eye of the beholder. However, for the sake of consistency, which
Elite is severely lacking, I don't think it is. There are numerous warnings in game for
the most mundane of things but important, useful ones like these are completely missing.

Fire groups are off? I'll find out soon enough. Crew left behind sipping her Martini? Big woop,
I go it alone. No Limpets, Refinery or Fuel scoop after 18 jumps? Now that can ruin a CMDRs
day real quick. I should know
X.

Sorry that happend to you. Happend to me too. Even once as a fuel rat on rescue. But you learn from it. I'd be one of those who'd remove all warning from everything. I mean, putting warnings on coffee pots that the content may be hot is only producing assisted idiots. Not saying that you are one, but helping people is slowing down their learning process, which is much quicker when confronted to errors and their consequences.

And another one on the plus side of not having warnings: setting up and observing a pre-flight check routine is much, much more immersive.

No they're not. There are warnings in many stations saying "don't forget your limpets".

I think it's on the right tab in the ship itself, under "inventory" am I right? :D

well, happens, like me, getting a help call from the squad, leaving station, 1 jump, entering CZ, deploying weapons and wondering - didnt I replace the frags with railguns? why do I have 4 firegroups all by sudden? and realize I neither have 2 SCBs loaded nor any reinforcement, instead, I have a s***load of 520t of gold still in the cargobay!

damn I am in my hauling cutter ...

Most of the warnings are for "out of game" problems, such as not binding keys and not setting fire groups, or accidentally hitting clear save instead of rebuy. In game actions, such as forgetting to load limpets or install a refinery don't need warning, learn how the rest of us did. You only forget once, then the constant reminders become annoying, such as "press X to exit super cruise."

Hmm....

My current Ship has a Limpet Controller but by design it doesn't fly around with Limpets in the Cargo hold.
(should the Repair Limpet Controller need to be put into action, I'll synthesize some)

My current Ship also has 2 Mining Lasers - but no Refinery.
(should I need to source Elements from Asteroids in Deep Space, I can do so)

Generally, the Pilots License involves the responsibility to outfit the own Ship properly, so it is Mission-ready.
IMHO that's good this way, no HUD confirmations or warnings should be needed. That's not the Ship's job, it's the job of the CMDR.

Exactly that!

What really annoys me is the popping in "Press x for y"-spam.

Exactly what I meant about consistency. Either give us warnings for
things (meaningful things) or don't give us any. The game just feels
half baked this way.

I obsessivecompulsively check everything now before launching but
I still manage to forget something every once in a while. LOL
X.

In a recent mining trip in my 'mining' Python I arrived at my destination short of the following : Mining Laser, PWA, Seismic Charge Launcher, Refinery, Limpet controllers and limpets.
I did have a lot of guns...

I'd also forgotten that the last 'job' done in the Python was a particularly lucrative delivery mission to an outpost...

Here an easy fix for you. make Designer ships. One called a Miner which has the Refinery and Mining lasers and all you have to do is add Limpets. So you only have to think about one thing filling Limpets.

Now your Combat ship with SLF. If it just set up for combat. All you have to remember is the Crew. Problem solved.

The truth is COVAS should be a little brighter
I mean, if i have collector and prospector limpets fitted and limpets too and also mining tools in the hardpoints, it should warn me if i press launch without fitting a Refinery, right?

Here an easy fix. Buy more than one ship. Make them into dedicated ships. In your case Maybe 3 Ships. One a Miner, One a trader and a Combat ships. You would not have to worry about adding a refinery to your mining ship. Because it already has a Refinery.

That is my normal way... Python is always setup (and is now) as a miner - limpets normally carried for collecting mats on main ships...
My case was I didn't want to wait 22 mins for the Krait II....
