Is it possible to make a winter habitat?

With the new arctic animals, I want to make one area of my zoo in to an artic snowy area, but it seems like this is impossible atm without making the entire zoo wintery :(
I did a test in my "test" zoo

This is how I want my arctic habitats to look;
Winter raindeer 1.jpg

Snowy grass and trees, gives a really nice wintery feel to it. I want the entire arctic area to look like this!

But the problem is, after just a few moments when I turn the weather from snow to sunny, it looks like this: :(

And this does not work at all for an arctic area :(

Is there any way at all to get around this?? Because I don't want snow in all of the zoo, just in a specific area and right now, that seems impossible :(

Oh and on a side note, is the only new foliage we are getting with the new patch/dlc a few christmas trees?? Very dissapointed :( :(

Yes, have loads of coolers in the habitat so that they cover the entire area. The only difference it makes is that the "wintery effect" lasts for about one minute longer than without coolers. Then it all melts again :(

You need to make your coolers reach lower temperatures and the snow will be permanent, that's how you do to animals that have a high requirement for snow in the habitat. Also make sure that they are properly powered and keep in mind that the radius of effectiveness of power sources like wind and solar will reduce with time until the next maintenance

If these conditions are being met and you still cant have permanent snow it may be a bug

Change the terrain to snow, with the coolers below 0, it should stay. I think there is nothing wrong here, it's just you. Set the coolers to -1 and add snow with the terrain modification.

I think the point here is that he wants the snow that falls to stay. You can have 100% snow coverage but there's no grass, no snow on foliage or rocks - this is the annoying part. All my coolers are -14 for these animals and the snow doesn't stay.

The snow is not the problem, it's the snow effect on the rocks and foliage that i want to be permanent. I have tried lowering the coolers to at least -15 but it still doesn't work :(

Yes, this is exactly what I'm talking about! The most annoying part is that in the trailers for the new animals they had scenery with snowy grass and trees with a sunny day, wich in the actual game is impossible. Why not just have an option to make the snow fall effect permanent on grass and foliage with coolers, or at least have the option to change the weather effect for a specific area of the zoo and not the entire zoo

That is all very strange. I have the coolers set on -2 and added snow with the terrain tool. It stays there though it's +12 degrees everywhere else in the zoo.

Like I stated above Dr4gon, it's not the snow on the ground that is the issue. It's the snow effect on the foliage like trees, bushes, rocks and long grass that you get after a snowfall that I want to be permanent

Oh, okay. I believe it stays. From your picture it looks like it hasn't been snowing yet, but I may be wrong, like so often.

It is not much, but it's my experience with snow.

Maybe we could use the new snow rocks to make it look like thick snow xD
I think it would be really cool if they recolored the moss/dirt pieces so we have more snow looking snow to put down.

Ye, the new snow rocks help a bit, but it doesn't do anything to the foliage unfortunetly :/
I wrote in the suggestion section about getting a kind of rime frost paint spray to use on rocks and foliage. That would solve the problem, but so would having the snow effect permanent or beeing able to make it snow in just a part of your zoo too.

The first pic I posted was just a few sec after I turned of the snow weather, the second is one min later :)
You're trying this in the sandbox I presume? You're manually picking the weather you want and then reverting it? That may be the issue then
Have you tried it with natural snow weather? How does it behave?

How do you mean? how do I test that? And it doesn't really work having it snowing all the time, cus that means I will get the snow effect all over the zoo and i don't want that, since my arctic area covers less than 15% of my zoo (and I would have to put down thousands of heaters -.-

Sounds like you're trying to do this through using just the weather in the game. What you need to do is use terrain painting, there's a snow selection in there.

And yet again, I'm not talking about the snow on the ground. You can't use terrain painting to get snow on the trees, bushes, rocks etc, thats the problem
