I wonder if they discuss this in the office

ED is not a good game to watch someone play really. Its why I think CMs should either not do lets plays at all or find other ways to engage the players (like with competitions and tasks, where the players themselves make the content).
Yeah I'm inclined to agree - videos from content creators are only watchable because they're edited heavily, or if they do stream, they tend to have a topic of conversation that's interesting enough to listen to while they play the game (and I still tend to skip forward - because I never really watch streams live, unless they're Frontier's and have something specific to announce/showcase).

So not sure if these streams are that great an idea if there's nothing specific they can cover during that hour or so - if it boils down to purely showing Elite gameplay, the 'professional' Youtubers and various PvPers who merely upload raw clips of their shenanigans do a much better job from an entertainment viewpoint, at least in my opinion.

Now imagine if you had a few competitions running- design a pirate skin for the New Era, more Holo Me ads (creative), most fashionable commander Holo Me (silly fun), and then have pre recorded deep dives on more of ED. FD then can dictate the pace, no one looks silly and you can then branch off short streams to announce winners / livestream that topic.

Yep, sounds good to me. Talking about skins, I don't really understand why they don't do community skins anymore (those came out before I was active on the forums I think so no idea how that worked in particular) as they tend to be better in terms of design compared to FD issued ones, and it's a revenue opportunity for FD. Win win for everyone.

The lack of communication and the lack of information are an important problem for the community.

The excessive cult of secrecy of Frontier, generates frustration, speculation and often misunderstanding and bitterness.

It's only perceived as a problem by some people. If they release early information exactly the same people will not be able to cope with any subsequent (and probably inevitable) changes. Others are fine with the roadmap as already laid out.

There's also marketing to consider releasing information too early means the hype dies down which is bad for the bottom line.

they can make an emblem customizer like call of duty has that's something that's been in games for like 20 years. But why would fdev do something that's popular and wanted by its fan base?

the hype dies down when you push back releases for more than a year also. that seems like that would be pretty bad for business to don't you think?

Its knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and having a bit of imagination. I don't know what restrictions the CMs have, but it can't result in anything worse than having a livestream negged to death (while dealing with yet another on camera problem).

No, not when that was done in direct response to a well publicized and popular (if misguided) demand from a lot of players that they delay new content for bug-fixes which is where we are right now.

For the new DLC the hype hasn't even started yet.

Last time they were even asked by the 'Community' to postpone it.
I still firmly believe FD was just being opportunistic using that open letter in their argument to postpone it. I still firmly believe they weren't ready and would've been pushed back regardless.

I'm kind of over them anyways. Am much more interested in what the New Era will bring. People expect space legs and base building, and while that may be coming we still don't actually know jack.

100% believe this as well

I meant fleet carriers. How long ago were they announced? How many times pushed back? Ive lost track

No idea, I'm OK with delays so I couldn't even guess. Delaying fleet carriers isn't something that would effect business that much since its a free update so its not really a massive generator of unit sales.

It probably made a few people claim they wouldn't buy any more paint/ARX temporarily for whatever that's worth.
