So, we're actually on schedule?

Again we don't know for sure, but thus far the leaked map and the leaked Arx info and the Financial report gave that information. That is what we Do know. All the other stuff you mention that is based on nothing is pure speculation.

If its not space-feet at all will you be bothered ?.

If I'm wrong I get bonus content.

Again we don't know for sure, but thus far:
1. The leaked road map has been correct on many occasions.
2. The leaked Arx info mentions Weapons and Buildings!
3. The Financial report has additional information about the upcoming expansion.

That is what we Do know.

All the other stuff you mention which is based on nothing is pure speculation.
Also, a leak of a 3D rendering of a Thargoid. Which suggests Thargoids actually scurrying around somewhere. There is some corroboration for that image with the Xeno-hunter decal:

It would be disappointing to say the least. Atmospheric planets are cool, but that alone won't bring in a big wider audience to ED.

You are already investing emotionally in the contents of the leak. Wait and see.

So you do care :D

I like the game so atmos, feet, both or even something else entirely is all positive to me. Way back at the kickstarter stage the single most important takehome exam question fact for me was that they said DLC was an if.

So everything after launch has been a bonus.

Just a different perspective.

That's cool, where did you find it?

Close, although the 3D version has grown another leg :D
I see 3 in the decal, four in this image:

Frontier said this isn't the final version. I think the body will be similar, but it should have a more expressive face that can convey emotions.

I've added links to where I found it (above).

There is also a Youtube video in Dec 2018 which shows what appear to be early prototypes of a Thargoid (they are experimenting with how many legs to have, it seems !)

which was referenced by Obsidian Ant in his video:

Yes 4 seconds of in game VR spacelegs.
Vid release 28th of June 2018 so ok not a full 2 years ago reveal but its clearly in game engine VR spacelegs

hm. doesn't look like in-game at all to me but a handcrafted scene. no game today achieves that level of fidelity in real time that i'm aware of, let alone in vr. that's a pre-rendered demo reel.

i agree it could be suggesting cockpit legs (with a bit of faith :))

Thanks.

More seriously, I kind of feel for FD but also want to sit down with them with a flipchart and pen.

The CC video segment in question for me was showing off the bridge detailing, since it was the first ship in a while to really hit the detail button. FD were rightly proud of a really nice model.

However, they did not guide our enthusiasm. Although they can't and don't have to spell everything out they can give us a general direction for that year. Just by saying 'no legs this year' and we can all relax, and people don't get hopes up over something thats not going to happen. Saying "we have no plans at this time" is far to nebulous.

This is a good point. I find they often offer a glimpse through the keyhole with no context. Then people interpret it in 1000 different ways, and eventually get let down.

The 4 second clip mentioned earlier could have a text scroll at the bottom with "new detailed interiors" or something.

In a game with this much potential to have almost anything put into it, I would like it if they took more steps to mitigate expectations with more clear communication

The problem they've got is people latch onto a throwaway line from a few years back and treat it like an engraved stone tablet from the gods.
I agree that this is a significant issue. I think part of the problem is that Dev communication is so sparse. This is further aggravated by the game being so large. If the devs only give us a heads up/ news every 3 months or so, the odds of it being about something that effects how I play the game are low.

Perfect example is Powerplay getting 0 love for years. What little communication there has been in the past year or two has been about mining, exploration, thargoids, etc. You never hear anything about Powerplay or CQC. Which is a shame, as both of these could be core elements of the game with a few changes.
