I'd only picked up on the headline bit - it was playing in the background.

It will be interesting to see how/whether that speeds things up a bit here in the UK. I think it probably will - a school near us closed today and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a lot more events cancelled with more schools/workplace closures later this week - and probably a lot more next week..

Knowing that the test developed in Berlin in December is probably about 70% accurate and can be faulty/misleading, knowing that there are are quite a few countries who have not even begun a thorough testing routine, knowing that for that there would not be enough tests available...the Status of UK and USA is something I am really worried about . All the best. Stay safe .

You've just never tried the right one, I guess. Sorry man, you don't know what your missing. I'm operating under the theory that if I eat enough of it over the next few weeks/months it'll actually help boost my immune system.

Fresh fruit is better for that (thoroughly washed nowadays). It'll also stop you getting scurvy whilst we are all on lockdown watching Netflix till the cloud of germs passes over.

I'm having pasta tonight, its Mrs Stigbobs favourite and since she's my favourite I cook and eat the damned stuff even if I think its a waste of valuable tummy space. Tuna bake with a crunchy breadcrumb and parmesan topping.

It does seem that our figures are lagging behind due to delays in test results and the lack of testing - anecdotally at least - of people displaying coronavirus systems (fever, cough, shortness of breath) if they haven't been in contact with a known case or returned from a know at risk area.

We don't have reliable data to support that it kills "many, many, many more people than influenza." I'd go so far as to say it's slightly more deadly to certain age groups, and seems to be more likely to achieve community spread which means the number will ultimately be a little higher than influenza, but that's about as far as I can go with you there. As far as I'm concerned, that kind of reasoning is actually contributing to the spreading of unhelpful panic and fear-mongering. Even looking at China, as much as they can be trusted to tell the truth, the numbers don't even come remotely close to validating your prognostication.

This is happening, but it's not the end of the world. Limit contact with other people as much as possible, have a staycation instead of that planned holiday, wash your hands regularly, stock up on supplies so that if there are shortages or your region is quarantined you aren't forced to stand in line to get your food off the back of a National Guard flatbed truck...and then go live your life and forget about it.
Yes.

However the problem as President Macron said (in France) "comes from the many unknown characteristics of this virus, because it is not like the seasonal flu that we have known since 100 years"

Regarding food (still in France), the great CEOs of food groups have stated that there is no risk of shortage until the summer.

So in France no need to stock, unless we have to be confined at home later.

:)

Well, sounds like you're a dutiful husband. It's important to not only eat it, but convincingly act as if you really enjoy it too, even if you don't. Especially if you don't. That's what 25 years of marriage has taught me.

I’m totally lost as to what you are talking about now

Not where I was going, but now you mention it...
