There seems to have been an outbreak of don't-confuse-me-with-facts-my-mind-is-made-up disease in this thread. I have yet to see anyone advancing a position which couldn't have been predicted by reading posts they made months ago about other things entirely.

If you want something unpredictable, may I suggest the Price of Silver? 📉📈

Having been to ASDA yesterday I bet it fun in here? :(

You know that bit in the Tom Cruise version for War of the Worlds, where they are all trying to get on the ferry, just before the tripods walk over the horizon? That is what it felt like, but for real in ASDA yesterday. There were no tripods coming but the feeling of doom was there.

I'm more scared of the reaction to the virus than the virus itself. For the most part it seems to be bringing out the worst in people (if it wasn't then people wouldn't be panic buying and people in low risk groups wouldn't be ignoring the advice because they aren't likely affected).

Covid-19 came from Bats that live in what we call China. It isn't 'Chinese' even though it came from that geographical area. Anyway; a massive ing contest isn't going to solve this here or anywhere else.

Unless you don't care about our old or vulnerable people dying (as a species) then cut all the pollical . Covid-19 is ~30x more deadly than the flu, won't die off in the summer, infects 2-3 people per infected person and ends up with 6 - 10% NEEDING hospitalisation.

Quorn is now one of the things being panic bought.

That is going to be a very stable commodity soon. Look up nuclear fission. The west has all the control rods out and we are slowly putting them in. Unfortunately the control rods are 'Freedom' and not so hard for some to SCRAM.

That made me curious, so I went back to my first two posts in this topic, on p2 and p3.

Considering I live next to the international airport and commute by train to the capital of Europe I am perfectly safe already. :)

It's generally smart to have a few weeks supply in stock, pandemic or not. In the kind of densely populated area where I live it would take no-time for stores to run out of stock when supply is interrupted for any number of reasons.

Wouldn't be surprised if I am asked to self-quarantine in March. Canned/frozen vegetables, rice and an excellent selection of scotch it is. :)

Here I am, March 19th and in the middle of my quarantine with panic buyers raiding the stores. It is not often that I say this, but:"Told me so!". :p

140 years is a little OTT, the correct path is probably in the middle.
You're talking to a guy who thinks if you've screwed up in society badly enough to be incarcerated for that long then you really should just be hauled out back and put down like a horse with a broken leg. I don't romanticize the underbelly of society and reserve my sympathy for those who deserve it.

Were you talking about Brexit though? Orignally?

I agree completely, however unless you have an infallible system and no corruption innocents get executed. So its a total no go for now.

I dont think even the biggest pessimist would have expected there to be panic buyers raiding the supermarkets in Belgium because of Brexit. :p Nah, Corona was the topic. I missed a dozen pages or thereabouts, was this topic about brexit at some point? I think we had another one for that.
